I bought a book on Saturday :P it's called Death's Shadow by Darren Shan, book seven of a current 8, and a book 9 is coming out in May.
I have to say, its quite disturbing, but at the same time thrilling. I dont know who the characters are or what had happened in the previous books, but its still good to read. Lots of fantasy; magic, werewolves, demons and zombies. Just what I like, something different you can sink your mind into and let you imagination run wild :D

Anyone here read his books yet? :3

I'm reading Stephen King's It. I really should have started reading his books a long time ago, but I never picked any up. Recently, my mom found Dreamcatcher and gave it to me. I liked it, so I went to buy more of his books. It hasn't quite drawn me in as much as Dreamcatcher, but it's not a bad book.

I just finished today The Cat Who Saw Stars by Lilian Jackson Braun.
It was really good and I think I'm going to pick up more books by her. She's so amazing I can't believe she's 95 and still writing novels!
I haven't decided what to read next yet.

Yes! I've read A Thousand Splendid Suns and loved it, although the ending is quite a lot to swallow. There was a part when reading that book when I had to put it down, screech, and explain the entirety of the plot to my aunt so that she could commiserate with how upset I was.
 It's quite well written enough to have an effect.
I haven't read Kite Runner yet, although I'm going to be reading it very soon. Would you recommend it?
As an interesting aside, Khaled Hosseini recently wrote an editorial about the United States election.
As for me, I'm currently reading Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice.

I finally decided on a book and I'm reading A Company of Swans by Eva Ibbotson.
It's pretty good. I'm about 32 pages in so far. I'm interested because I've always loved ballet. And I hope to see a ballet later this year (nutcracker around Christmas time).

I just started Sacred Games by Vikram Chandra. It's way good so far!
And I am about to crack into Identical by Ellen Hopkins as well. Sacred games, I've decided, is going to be my book for times of peace and quiet, and peace and quiet times alone! I need to be able to concentrate when I read it, especially with all the Hindi slang thrown in. Ellen Hopkins isn't hard to read when you're half distraced by other stuff, or otherwise unable to devote your full attention to what you are reading. :D

Iltu - I know what you mean. The book I'm reading now A Company of Swans I thought I could read at work but it's hard because I have to think about what's being said because a lot of the language/and words are in french. And I don't know french! So I have to think harder and that's not good when I'm watching for costumers. XD

I'm actually reading Heidi again. >w> I found it on the bottom of my bookshelf, so I grabbed it and started going through the thing.
I can see why I liked it so long ago, but there's definitely things that would keep me from reading it now.

Oooh, I haven't read that in.... 8 years? 8 years! I'd love to reread it again.
I've recently finished Pride and Prejudice. Between now and my next class book I am reading Patricia Brigg's Moon Called, which so far is shaping up to be a wonderful, urban-set fantasy. I like Mercy a fair deal.
About half-way through Running Loose, which I am rereading for a freshman class that I am tutoring. It's by Chris Crutcher, whose other work I have been interested in reading since Banned Books week.
I'm fairly chipper, or will be by the end of tomorrow-- at which point I shall be at perfect liberty to spend rash amounts of time curled up with a book.

I just finished Abarat by Clive Barker. It was fairly entertaining; the illustrations definitely helped me stay in. Now I'm in the mood to reread the Bartimeus trilogy...
I'm currently slogging through An American Tragedy by Theodore Dreiser. The writing's a little bit archaic and it practically smashes you over the head with its ideas but it's been intriguing so far. It reads a little like a James Clavell novel set in America instead of Japan.

I'm currently reading two books. One, being "Twilight" by Stephanie Meyer which some of my friends are making me read >_________>;;
And the other book is "A Northern Light" by Jennifer Donnelly, and the reason why i'm reading two, is because I left "Twilight" in my locker at school, so I began the other book ;P

Collapse!
I am stressed, and I read at a quick pace when I'm stressed. So I've read, yay!
I finished off a short book assigned to the class which I am tutoring, and which I'd read once before: Chris Crutcher's Running Loose. Despite its simplicity, I loved it. The characters are realistic and easy to empathize with. The novel includes running, cross-country style, and the descriptions and related metaphors work really well for me... Deceptively straight-forward characters give extraordinarily wise advice throughout the course of the text. In reading it, I felt as though I was being taken care of whilst also being entertained.
A reassuring book and a quick read.
I also read the first two books in the Mercy Thompson series, and was highly entertained by them (though I confess myself irritated at the excess of preternatural would-be-beaus at the end of book 2). The only downside to all of this is that, because I am feeling punchy lately, I end up quoting a lot of not-so-kosher lines entirely out of context. My friends are starting to look at me strangely.
I am currently reading the third Mercy Thompson novel, whilst also dabbling in Kite Runner and a book about Margaret Sanger. Nearing the end of them all... hopefully, s'all good. :)

I recently finished reading Fairest by Gail Carson Levine. I thought it was a very good retelling of Snow White; only the barest similarities made it recognisable as that fairytale, the author totally made it her own.
I've just started reading Finnikin of the Rock, the latest book by Melina Marchetta. I'm really interested to see how this will turn out as I've already read Looking For Alibrandi by the same author, which was not based in a fantasy setting.
