Currently I'm reading Rangers Apprentice. My sister just gave me book 6 yesterday, and I couldn't wait to start it. It's a fantasy book I found in the kids section, but I think parts of it are awfully mature for a kids book. I think It's more teen. But I really loved the first 5 books, so I'm sure I'll love book 6. ^^

I just finished reading Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice. Loved it.
And now I'm reading Charles Dickens' Oliver Twist. I never saw the film or anything so didn't know what to expect. But its pretty good.

Its ravishing once you get passed the puss filled boils on TB infected cow flesh exploding all over butchers, and blood poisoning.

I am currently reading 'Darkfever' by Karen Marie Moning. So far, I must say, I'd love to kick the main character off a cliff. (: Let's just say you're better off getting it at the library than wasting money on it. It's not terrible, really, but not worth keeping around. There are more sexual situations that I care to read, for example. That's just not my thing; I was hoping for a fantasy-mystery-romance sort of thing.

So I figured I would just start typing about some of the books I am reading at the moment. If you know of them or want to talk about them I would be glad to discuss them with you. Perhaps you would even have a suggestion for me:)

One of the books I just finished reading was "Three Cups of Tea." It is about this mountaineer who tried to climb K2 in his dead sister's memory. He didn't make it, like so many others before him. However after his failed climb he was coming back down and got lost. A village found and took him in to nourish and care for him till he was well again. While he was there, he saw a group of kids sitting on the cold ground writing in the dirt. That was their only form of school. He asked the village chief if there was any way he could repay them for their kindness and the chief said that he wanted a school for the children. The mountaineer, Greg Mortenson, agreed. But when he came back to the States he ran into trouble trying to raise money. When he finally had the money he did his best to get back to the village and after many obstacle built the school. Though he was broke and poor, he gave all his time and energy and life to continuing to build schools for those who had no means of education. I finished readying this book and sat thinking how blessed I am and yet I have done nothing in comparison.

Another book I am reading, beside textbooks :( , is called Karina ???. Sorry I don't remember the entire title. But it is a thick book and I am only a quarter of the way through. It seems to be about high society of Russia back a long time ago. One of the ladies is about to have an affair I think. Very complex book. I'm trying to stay with it.

Does anyone have any ideas of what I could read? I like historical fiction, westerns, kosher romance, novels, etc. No horrors though. Would love to hear your comments.

I'm doing double duty on The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe and The Women of Brewster Place. I actually bought the chronicles in the boxed set form the used bookstore. I'm a big fan of originals. I used to watch The Women of Brewster Place , starring Oprah, when I was a kid. Now I'm seeking better meaning and understanding from the book.

I'm sorry, but I find it hilarious you were the last one to post on my Fresh Meat thread, and then I see this when I venture into the book forum.

I'm reading Sojourn at the moment, also by R.A. Salvatore, and is about Drizzt.

I just finished The Bluest Eye by Toni Morrison. It was required for school, but it was ok none the less. Don't get me wrong, the story line was sad and horrible, but very well written. I think I'll keep it and put it on my bookshelf as "the book I can't believe I got through reading".
