I know this is a stretch, but I can't think of a better first-topic for me to create than one about the one-beloved, esteemed Lisa Jane Smith!
Her Night World series was wildly popular... and just getting to the climax when she dropped off of the face of the earth!
So, discuss... do you have any L.J. Smith nostalgia? Talk about your favourite books, favourite characters, or how angry you are that Strange Fate is still listed as "To Be Published... (if we feel like it)"
And... do you believe that L.J. Smith might be... dead!? D:
Its a little murder-mystery/conspiracy within itself!
I'll start... my favourite book, my far, was "Witchlight". I wanted to BE Keller, for a while. x3
But... I thought The Secret Circle was the best trilogy. It was refreshing to see witchcraft shown in a realistic way, using the actual tools and rituals of the trade.
Anyhow, I won't be too disappointed if no one knows of this wonderful writer, or her captivating books. It HAS been almost a decade since her last book was released... (what a shame.)

I wouldn't mind piking them up, by the way you rave about them. They sound good. XD
Thought I don't think I could handle being left hanging. I be dramatic "OMG NOOOO~" for about a week, like I am with some other dramatic cliffhangers.
Sad to hear that the fans have been hanging for almost 10 years.
XDD

Oh wow, has it really been that long?! I feel so old now. And kind of scared; She's far from the only one of my favorite childhood writers to vanish like that. Most of them disappeared on me, actually..
Anyway! My favorite of her books were The Forbidden Game trilogy, and I will admit to being dorky enough to still read it. The Secret Circle and Dark Visions were good too.

If I could find my copy of it, I'd tell you. D: This thread made me go on a mad hunt for those books, and I was able to find the other two I mentioned, but not The Secret Circle. (Why yes I do horde books, why do you ask?)

lol, the only books that I've been able to find of hers lately is The Vampire Diaries. A friend of mine picked the set up for me at a bookstore a couple years back..... well the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th that is. They didn't have the first one so I need to get that one someday.
I remember loving those books though. Makes me want to reread all of them again.

I love lJ Smith books my favorites would have to be "the night world series" "the vampire diaries" and "the secret circle" out of the night world series I would have to say "Huntress" and "Witch light" are my 2 favorites..I am a bit disappointed that the last book has not come out yet,but from what I have heard LJ Smith has had to deal with some health issues so I can understand I just hope that it does come out :)

Omg, how random. I was only just thinking about her. ;___;
I love L. J. Smith. I had a dream the other night that I went to a private booksigning of hers and she was signing all of my copies of the Night World books. (Which isn't very many, I got them all out of the library and I'm struggling to find anywhere that actually sells them. ;3;)
I want Strange Fate [volume 10 of Night World, as I'm sure you're all aware], and I want it now. -mega pout-
Didn't she have a family member that became direly ill? Or was it her? I think the facts were a bit scrambled.
(I maintain that Hunter Redfern kidnapped her and attempted to make her his torture victim/love slave before realising she was his soulmate. ;o Conspiracy--!)
I love Morgy and Quinn. <33
-mega huggles-
And The Vampire Diaries? Well, that's one of her series that I do own completely.

Dude, she has a website now, and she totally replied to my fangirl email. I was thrilled.

LOL still waiting for her to finish Night World
have all the books. read them at least 3 times each.
she said someone in her family died.
and thats why she went on hiatus
not trying to be rude,
you would expect her to be up and creating more books by now

I'm with you on that.
I have all the books...
Well the newer ones, where they have two put in one.
But anyways, I've been trying to get a hold of her other books; like The Secret Circle.
But none of the libraries have it.
What about her disappearing?

Oh my.. I hadn't thought of her in along time. I read the Vampire Dairies all the way back in middle school when they first came out, which would have been early 1990's I think. I adored them in middle school and then I tried to re-read them in high school and was disgusted with the main female character. I think my train of thought was , way did it have to be the pretty popular girl...why not the mousy girl...so I had a few issues with it. Other than that I enjoyed the setting and the plot. :)
