I absolutely love reading historical fiction.
Sometimes I'll read a bit of fantasy, but if it's completely AU, I get a bit bored and/or confused.

I like the fantasy genre the best, but I'll occasionally read science fiction, romantic comedies, vampire novels, or even historical fiction.

i get you, and i like the fae too, have you read the Ironside series by Holly Black or Wicked Lovely by Melissa ....something anyway. My favourite genre are fantasy, dash of Sci-fi, with some comedy, and sometimes a bit of romance (depending on how dark the stories are) and if you think that just sounded like a recipe.... you'd be right  a recipe for good reading! *giggle*
If you want a dark adventurous fantasy book i recommend Sarah Ash's trilogy starting with Lord of Snow and Shadows it's quite dark but very enjoyable.

historical romance (Julie Garwood, Jude Deveraux, Nelle McFather  ), suspense/mystery/detective (Sydney Sheldon), comedy + any other genre... exceptions: I don't like horror or murder stories. They scare me and give me creeps... I'm such a paranoid sometimes.

I like a lot of different genres. Fantasy is an all time favorite. I read everything from the mediocre to the fantastic in that genre. Certain sci-fi authors are absolutely amazing. Of course, I can't think of any off the top of my head. Horror and supernatural are great also. I especially like anything by Stephen King. Even his bad books were good enough for me to finish within a couple days. =) When I was younger I read historical fiction, and considering my newest writing project I may return to that genre again. About the only genre that I don't like are "westerns" if you consider that a genre!

I'm a sucker for steampunk in movies, but I love reading about sci-fi and fantasy. It's even better when they're together.

There really isn't just one genre that appeals to me. I've read just about every genre out there, and I enjoy them all. Except, I have a hard time getting into sci-fi books, they go too slow for me, and I have nothing to relate to really.
If I were to choose something off a shelf though, I just go for the back cover, see what the book is about. If it sounds interesting enough, I read a page, and if the page is good, I'll get the book. I've discovered a few good books that way^^

- AU Fantasy, with specific interest in Urban Fantasy/Horror.
Stuff like Simon Green's Nightside series, and Jim Butcher's Dresden Files.
Fantasy/Satire is awesome is well. Terry Pratchett's Discworld, and other such things.
Urban Horror, is that a genre? It's how I'd classify Caitlin R. Kiernan's Silk, and Threshold. Hm.

Gore And Horror Are My Favorite Two, Though If They're Bad Stories I Tend To Go Around Insulting The Author And Telling People Never To Read It Because It Isn't Scary, Violent Or Gory. Though I Have Yet To Insult Stephen King...
I Like Real Life Ones. Ones Which Are Written As Real Life But Aren't Though You Could Believe That They Were And Real Life Though Only If They're Interesting. By Interesting I Mean Believable Problem Like With Drugs, Drinking, Rape Etc. I Like Problemed Stories ^_^'
Fantasy And Sci-fi Are Good In My Mind As Well Mainly Because I Was Bought Up With My Parents Watching Sci-fi And A little Fantasy.
I Can't Get Over Good Satires -.-' I Think The Ones That Are Well Written Are Just So Cool, Especially When The Meaning Behind Them Is Important, Interesting Historical Event Or Something I'm Interested In Or Believe In.
I Also Have This Terrible Liking For A Good Romance...Of Course It Has To Be A Problemed Romance Like 'Eye Of The Storm' Which I Made THe Mistake Of Reading At The Age Of Ten. Oh And Romeo And Juilet Is One That Grabs Me As Well. Guiltly Pleasure...To Read Romance xD

I love all books by stephen king and my recently read book by holly black's Tithe a fairy tale.
It isnt your average fairy tale either it has a tiny bit like the books by stephen king.
Yet i do read more mangas than either other type of books. So its more on like what basically appeals to me at the time. I do like reading cookbooks. I will be living on my own soon. I need to know how to feed myself instead of buying store already made foods.
