I tried reading it... (got all parts from the local library)
It was really tricky to read, and I was only twelve at the time. It was a version with notes at the end of every chapter, and that helped a lot, but the problem was after every two lines or so I would have to flip back to the explanation to try and muddle through the verses. I was so bad at trying to understand the text XD
I kinda failed after a few pages and left the book to collect dust until I returned it back to the library. Dunno, maybe I'll try again sometime soon XD;

I read it in high school, and some of it was interesting, but it's not something I'd choose to read again, nor something I'd take to heart as being anything near true (some of its ideas even made me mad.)
Cliff Notes probably help, yeah.

I had to read all of the Divine Comedy in collage. Excellent stuff, if you take the time.
...the Inferno is definitely the best part.

So, I'd love to read it but Haven't yet <3

- I read it in my senior English AP course.
Once I got a hand of how to read it...it was fascinating. I absolutely can't agree with who goes where though. But that's how people thought back then...and in a way, still today. :/
Has anyone taken this quiz? It tells you which level you'd go to. XDD

The thing to understand about the Inferno though, is that there is a whole lot more than just the overall story going on. Everything that's going on in there reflects the political and social views of the author... he was pointing fingers at a lot of folks inthere... so some of what doesn't make sense to us today...DID make sense then...if the reader knew what symbols and whatnot to look for.
...and it's just a plain cool story. :D

I've gotten through about half of the Inferno. I had a hard time lugging around my copy because it was so heavy, and I had one with translator notes at the very end. Which is so much helpful. I had a hard time reading the verus's no matter ho many times I went over the story. I need to try and go back and read it again.
My copy has all 3, Inferno, Purgaturio and Heaven. Told the heaven book is the least interesting.

then the book that you have is the 'Divine Comedy' which covers the entire journey through all three areas of the afterlife. Kudos!

Purgatory
You have escaped damnation and made it to Purgatory, a place where the dew of repentance washes off the stain of sin and girds the spirit with humility. Through contrition, confession, and satisfaction by works of righteousness, you must make your way up the mountain. As the sins are cleansed from your soul, you will be illuminated by the Sun of Divine Grace, and you will join other souls, smiling and happy, upon the summit of this mountain. Before long you will know the joys of Paradise as you ascend to the ethereal realm of Heaven.
well...I don't rate HEaven, but I'm gettin' there!

I read the Inferno in high school, but I'm not all that interested in reading about the other parts...
I enjoyed the Inferno, though. The concept was interesting... as well as the reasons why it was written in the first place.
Sometimes I find that "Where in Dante's Hell would YOU go?" quiz and check it out, because it amuses me. >.> Heh.

I got Inferno, and I was enjoying it quite a bit. I got distracted, though, because I had to read a book for school. x_x I still haven't gotten back to it, but it was absolutely fascinating.
