<3<3<3 HOMG I love NIX!<3<3<3
I love the abhorsen trilogy- specifically Lireal. Lireal is my favorite, but I think half of why I love her is that she is contrasted with Sabriel, adn has so much more dimension to her.

X3
I also read Shade's Children- which I like, but not as much as I see it as an overdone style story. It had a few unique twists to it that I liked.

I also read Ragwitch- and i like it less than Shade's Children. It was interesting, but I knew he'd done better.

Then we have the days of the week books- I read up to Tuesday. I want to finnish it. I don't know how far into it he is.

I tried to read one of the Abhorsen books, but I just couldn't get through it.

Last summer, I read about half of Mister Monday from the Keys to the Kingdom (...I believe that's what it's called). I really liked it, but I didn't have enough time to read it. I have the first two of the series on loan from the library currently, so I'll end up reading them... sometime soon.

I love Garth Nix's Abhorsen Trilogy. The world that he creates is absolutely amazing beyond my mind.
I have never read any of his other works. I'm really not all that interested in them.

Nix is a very good writer. I have read a couple of his books and have been meaning to buy more. XD Right now I am booked out though.

The Abhorsen trilology is pretty much amazing.

I too have read the series about a ba-gillion times and I still love every line.

The characters are all so different and are so well creatived that they are intimately captivating.

If you enjoyed the trilology, then I advise you to read Across the Wall, it's got a small bit to do with the finale of the series and then it has some of his other work in there. All short stories, but they are all very well done. There is even a choose you own adventure in there that makes me giggle everytime.

I really like the trilogy C: My favorite out of those three is Lirael, and I can read it over and over again and its still fascinating.

I read the trilogy, and I have to say I was not impressed by the first one for several reasons. First, I hate "she's the female lead, he's the male lead, and they are true loves!" in almost any situation. It's just... frustrating to me. Second, Sabriel seemed too linear in the quest development, it was very basic in that regard, and I expected more, especially since I thought it started out so strong. There really weren't any twists and turns, it was a straight line.

In contrast, I loved books two and three. There was a much better richness and depth to the plot and characters, it was far more interesting than Sabriel. I actually cared about the characters in Lirael and Abhorsen, which for me as a reader is the most important thing.

It was a good thing that my copy of the trilogy was a three-in-one, because if I had bought the first book as an individual novel, I wouldn't have read the second and third and I would have missed out on some awesome books! I also got Across the Wall and I loved it.

Now I guess I have to check out his other books! I'm new to Nix as I only started reading him last summer at the suggestion of a friend. Since Sabriel was his first and he improved so much in Lirael and Abhorsen, I expect I'll like the rest of his books as much if not more. (:

I totally agree with you. I found it very hard to keep up with sometimes. But the joy I got out of the first book was all the traveling Sabriel did... I very much felt like I was on some sort of epic adventure with her. And the scene with the bunny, at the beginning, really want amazing to me.

Lirael has to be my favorite of that series. I enjoy Nix's work. There was another book by him... that I can't remember the name of... about a boy and robots and using humans for parts... or maybe that's a different author... Gold, or something was his name. Gah! I can't remember!

I confess that the series did ensnare my attention for a while and I read his 'Over the Wall' anthology, but I agree with the above comment that the relationships were too frustrating. They were good books, but it bothered me.

I love the Abhorsen series, and I'm currently reading the Keys to the Kingdom series. I love it, I feel really bad for poor Arthur, who just wants to go home and live a normal life for a few years but the Morrow Days just don't want to leave him alone.

I adore the Abhorsen trilogy. I read Sabriel at summer camp one year at a friend's recommendation, and just loved it. I read them before I started to get irritated with love cliques like "female lead + male lead = everlasting love" so that didn't bother me. On the other hand, part of the reason characters are leads or not, in my opinion, is at least partially because they become a love interest.

I recently acquired and read Over The Wall and enjoyed it immensely. I hadn't realized at first that there was only one Abhorsen story in it, and was little put off, but I read the rest of the stories and really liked them. It was the first time I'd read any Nix other than the Abhorsen books, so that was nice. Also, in reading the introduction to each story, I found the he and I have a similar approach to writing and inspiration; We're both rather contrary, and like to write old stories and conventions in new ways, just because, just to show that it can be done.

I really like the Abhorsen series. The unfortunate thing is, I read the three books over a long period of time, so I never remember what the previous book was about. :(

last time I checked he was up to Friday and he is working on Saturday but those books are phenominal given that I though the seconnd one was a little lacking in the flare of the first one but still he is a really good author

I love his books i was hooked and got the second and third the fist day it came out. I wan't him to write a fourth. His other series i don't like at all but i love this series. Has anybody read the short story book what it called something while i don't know. But one involves this series and takes place over the wall. I didn't like it but it could be a good story is just depends on your taste.

  • Yes. Garth Nix is awesome. ~ :o

I've read the Abhorsen trilogy three times so far and still find it awesome. Kinda should go and finish up the keys to the kingdom series also. Stopped at Wednsday so far. His books are nicely rooted in that slightly dark part of fantasy novels, or at least that's what i've found so far. It's nice to sit back and read those since you pretty much know things are going to die, but you just never know who, what, and when. Keeps me reading addictively until i'm done with the book two or three days later. :3

I love both titles and have read them all three times each!
Its pretty cool how the author describes the scene and setting
Its so original and an unusual style as well. Definetly an original story that is great for the young adult to read.

Oh, I love Nix. The Abhorsen books are good, but personally I liked the Seventh Tower series better. I also like how you can really see his style develop as he continues to write... The Ragwitch is terrible, cliched and rips off tons of stuff from other authors but you can see his unusual style developing even then.

The one thing he does not write well is relationships. One of the things I liked about the last two Abhorsen books was that he stayed mostly clear of romance. I only wish he had done the same thing for Shade's Children (if you've ever read that one, you'll know what I mean)

Currently devouring the Keys to the Kingdom. So far liking the series very much.

I've only read the Seventh Tower series by him but I loved it. <3 I should really read his other things, Abhorsen has been taunting me at the book store lately. Maybe I'll finally buy it...

I lovelovelovelovelove garth nix.

I periodically reread his books, they are always awesome. ^_^

All his other books are okay, but nothing, to me, is as great as his abhorsen trilogy. <3 ^^
