I liked Angels & Demons a lot more, but The Da Vinci Code was pretty good too. I wasn't expecting it to be a real page turner, but I could hardly put the book down. I haven't seen the movie yet, but I want to see it. x3

I get kind of annoyed with the people who complain about this book and the stuff it has to say. After I read the book, I was telling my family about it and my cousin went on a crazy tirade about how she didn't want to hear about what other people had to say about the church and all this other nonsense. It's just a book, and most of the things in there are just theories.

i was the same way, to the point that i got my mom to read it and she loved it and passed both books around her office to the people that hadn't read it yet. but i agree with you about the bad publicity that the book gets, just like any book that his a sore note with any group of people. these two books just happen to really attack religion and so lots of people take offense. but i believe that if you are strong in your faith then a work of fiction should make you question your faith. but thats just me and i love these books. the movie wasn't very good. i mean it kept up with all the action but it did very little in the way of really representing the book.

I actually didn't like the book much. ^^;; Not because I objected to what it had to say, but because to me it just wasn't a good book. As in the writing was functional and it had me turning the pages, but there was nothing about it that stuck out to me. The characters didn't interest me, the writing wasn't memorable, and when I finished the book I didn't feel like I would ever be picking it up again.

That, and I'm annoyed at people who automatically think it's the greatest thing ever just because it was omgsoshocking! and went against the Bible. It annoys me just as much as the crazies who call it the Devil's work. >.> Seriously, it's just a book.

I've heared that book was a complete copoff of another book published years ago.... But than again it could just be the catholics all pissed off about it trying to tell lies about the book. I don't know. I saw the movie... It was okay.

I heard the same thing as Yumi Mei Flower. Mr. Brown did get sued for it, but what the heck, he's still profiting off that book. A couple million shouldn't hurt too much. XP

As a novel...well, it was OK. I wasn't surprised at the end (Was I supposed to be?)

I didn't really like his characters, either.

The movie was a stinker.
Tom Hanks is a great actor but they never should have gotten him to play the professor. He's too damn serious he doesn't have that adventurous spark like Harrison Ford. (Not that I think they should have gotten Ford, he's getting up there. But somebody else would have been better.)

The book was good, it was really fun to read.
I don't take it seriously but it did spark my interest enough that I've read Holy Blood, Holy Grail and a slew of other books on the subject.

The book was a decent read. The story/plot were pretty interesting and I was never at a point where I was bored. At the same time, I have to be honest and say that I didn't think it was particularly well written, mainly because Dan Brown's writing style reads more like a text book than a novel. Sometimes, the little technicalities added up and got annoying. But, all in all, the novel was a positive experience.

I agree, but I think that's because I was obsessed with the drawings. I keep trying to do one with my name and anything else I can think of. It's like an artistic puzzle. xD

Although I really liked "The DiVinci Code', I LOVED "Angels and Demons"! :D Dan Brown is an excellent author who knows how to stir the readers imaginations! :D

I personally abide by the moral philosophy that if any book has the word "code" in the title, it's full of B.S. It was an interesting read, but the writing was absolutely horrible for a published author. Not to mention, he stole his idea from some other guy's thesis (even tho it's a really dumb one) and made it into a novel. Also, the kiss at the end of the book was completely unnessecary.
Buuut I suppose that if you just want some random fluff to fill up your afternoon, it's enjoyable enough, but don't take it as doctrine, you are just decieving yourself.

  • I had a DVC craving for the past couple of days (DVC = DaVinci Code of course) so I borrowed the movie from Donna and I started reading my copy of the novel again. It makes me feel good, even though I'm Catholic.

My overly-religious aunt and uncle still freak out that I read it.

I really liked that book. I could hardly put
it down when I was reading it. :] I like all
those complicated plot-twisting books.

Can anything really be taken as doctrine.
History, philosophy, language?
I like to think of most things as hypothetical. Even in first person, memory can distort fact.

I thought it was predictable and the characters were dense actually. I only read it because of all the hype it was getting in the media and was severely disappointed. Its not even that I knew a lot about the Da Vinci or Mary Magdalen, its just that the clues seemed pretty obvious and it took the characters forever to connect things together.

Do you know, I have never read the Da Vinci Code.

Actually, the cover with Mona Lisa's eyes scared me. And you know what? I never noticed it was Mona Lisa until later on! :X

I should read it, huh?

This is an amazing book! I didn't finish it though and I've never seen the movie. I was at my cousins house so I was reading the first couple of pages, it got me hooked right away!

It was AMAZINGLY well written, I just couldn't figure anything out until he told me.
Fantastic book, very unapologetic about the religious side as well.

The "Da Vinci Code" was a very good book, the same went with "Angles and Demons". They are wonderful pieces of fiction. I loved the characters and want Dan Brown to come up with more books. I like how all his books have conspiracy themes through out the book. Though I would not have read his books if it wasn't for the church and other Christian leaders saying "don't read this book". They only helped sell his book. If they really didn't want people to read the book then they should of kept quiet. And if anyone liked the book "The Da Vinci Code" they should read "Digital Fortress" and "Deception Point". Now there are some good books.

I thought it was a wonderful book, but I like just about every book I ever read, so it doesn't really matter I liked it or not.

Though one of my friends thought the characters really like personality. I didn't agree, I thought that his characters were very well equipped with personality.
