YES! Neil Gaiman for the win! He's really really great and one of my favorite writers. I just love his writing style. It's the kind I like, with extra humor added in :D
Coraline was pretty good. Kind of creepy, though, for a children's story. The Graveyard Book was great. I loved the perspective and all that he put into it. STARDUST is by far the best out of the ones I've read. I watched the movie too. I prefer the movie's ending (but not the "ending", as in the last 2 minutes) to the book's, as it has much more drama and romance, but it was awesome. In my top 10 for sure. I started reading Good Omens a while back but I couldn't finish it since I hadn't brought my library card with me that time :( oh well. |
I read Coraline the book. I think it's good. I love it and the movie too. :)
|
Neil Gaimain is, by far, my favorite author. His works are so twisted and dark! I have read Neverwhere, The Graveyard Book, and Coraline, all of which were amazing. x3
|
I love his Sandman series. <3
|
I've read some of the Sandman books, Coraline, M is for Magic, The Interworld and i'm currently reading The Graveyard Book. :D
His writing style is just amazing, I love how he details things. :) |
American gods  the most epic book ever written! I also read neverwhere and good omens (though he was a co-writer on that one). He is a genius because you can't guess what's gonna happen even one page ahead. I hate reading books where you know what the entire book is going to be about after only reading 1 or 2 chapters..
|
Ive just started my very first by him, The Graveyard Book I really like it so far. A little boy called Nobody Owens raised by ghosts in a graveyard. I honestly haven't read enough to even get to the very exciting part yet though. I can't wait ^_^
|
I've read a few of his books, and I adore them! :)
My favorite was Neverwhere, it's just so eerie and bizarre, like two worlds colliding. :) I also liked Wolves in The Walls. I hear the Sandman books are good, too, I've never read them, though. :) |
I love Neil Gaiman, he's really talented!
He kind of reminds me of a more contemporary/dark Douglas Adams! =3 I really want to read Neverwhere! I want to read Coraline eventually too, the movie was so spiffy! |
The only thing I've read by him is American Gods. It was good, but now I have to wait a while to work on this story idea I had before I read it that is similar enough I would blend American Gods in it too much right now. I want to also read his Sandman stuff.
|
Feral Fantom, you are my hero.
I adore American Gods far too much. Shadow and his 'fuck it.' attitude. I wanna BE that guy. |
Oh, lovely Neil Gaiman... I have followed him for years. I used to read his blog quite often, but managed to quite the habit.
He really is a fantastic writer and he has variety in his work which many writers can't/don't do. American Gods is an incrediable book. It really made a huge impression on me the first time I read it. Quite a bit of the imagery in that book still lingers about in my head. And Stardust is such a sweet story. Very innocent and gentle. I love that book. The thing about Sandman, though, is that I can't read that anymore. I gets under my skin in a way that's not good for me. I LOVE Death. She's my ideal me, which is sorta twisted probably. I even have a little figurine of her that used to ride with me in my car, but now sits beside my bed. |
Ahhhh, I LOVE Neil Gaiman!
My favourites from him are American Gods and the Graveyard Book, and my favourite book ever is probably Good Omens :> |
Love his movies. XD I've read most of Neverwhere but my copy was missing pages toward the end. My sister mailed me an intact copy the other day though, so I should be able to finish it as soon as I finish the current book I'm reading. Man's a genius.

Neil Gaiman is one of my favourite authors! My favourite books from him are neverwhere and the graveyard book
|
I'm a big fan of his writing. I find it fascinating and I love his stories. Ever since the first one I found in the library I have continued to search for his others and until it became difficult for me to be able to get to the library to take new ones out I continuously searched for as many of his books as I could find so I could read them.

Let's Talk about Neil Gaiman!
I am a big fan of Gaiman though I admit I have not read too many of his books. Just thought I'd make a thread about his books and related books to see what people had to say.
This is also my fffirst thread outside of the Fresh Meat Forum. Go me. |
I'm a fan as well - although I've never touched his Sandman books.
I've just recently started reading him - I've been able to read Anansi Boys, American Gods, Stardust, Good Omens, and Neverwhere. I actually follow him on Twitter, it's pretty interesting to see what he's up to. |
I don't do the whole Twitter thing. I hear though that he is an interesting father figure.
American Gods has been my favorite so far. It has effected the way I see the world. IE: Earlier today the phone wasn't working for my boss so I told him the god of the phones was displeased. It made me laugh and I guess if someone had read American Gods, they would have thought it funny, too. Anansi Boys has been a trip, man. As a side note having nothing to do with this topic: I have noticed the Mods floating about in Chat. This is the stuff that myths are made of. |
Oh we participate on the site as well as moderate - it would be no fun if we couldn't chat and actually be part of the community.
Actually- I'm going to merge your double post for you while I'm in here - we don't allow double posting on Mene unless a couple of hours has passed between posts. American Gods is probably my favorite - and I'm glad I read that before Anansi Boys because it helped me know more of what was going on in the book. Stardust was really good too - but I actually think I like the movie better. >.> |
I really like all of his books, I think one of my favorites would have to be Interworld. I also liked Coraline and Neverwhere, and that one book with a bunch of his short stories. The movie for Coraline was good but i felt like it was in a different world from the book... Neverwhere was also awesome, I loved the characters and the ending made me smile. :D
|
I dig Neil Gaiman too. The first book of his I read was actually one of his children's books, The Wolves in the Walls. I highly recommend that one for folks of all ages. I try to give it as a gift to anyone I know with kids, so I can be "that creepy lady that scared the baby" - haha.

I found Neil Gaiman from Good Omens, his collaboration with Terry Pratchett. If you are a Neil fan, and you haven't read Terry yet, go remedy that. Now! I've got friends, a guy and a girl, who are currently working on Neil Gaiman and Amanda Palmer costumes; the girl's going as Neil and the guy as Amanda; it's going to be gold. |

I really like Neil Gaiman, too. :3 I have read a couple of his novels, my favorite one's Neverwhere, and some short stories. I think the only book of his I was disappointed with was Stardust. It was one of the few cases when I liked the movie better.
