Now to one of my favourite authors, charlaine harris who wrote the Sookie Stackhouse mysteries.

Do any of you know them?

Do you like them?

I loved the first three volumes, the fourth was ok too and I am still stuck in the middle of the fifth, for one year now. I guess the series went downhill for me after volume three ^^; ...though... no, four was cool too.

I've read the entire series and I'll be the first to admit that I've enjoyed them. Granted she's not my top ten authoress but in a pinch her books are funny amusing and highly enjoyable.

I'm waiting for the new book hoping that something will actually get resolved for Sookie.

I guess i will not buy the new one in hardcover but wait for the softcover. I still haven't finished the last volume, it lays in my bathroom for a year and i do not have the motivation to read it on, because it bore the hell out of me. Maybe it could be because i couldn't stand her new lover... don't know.

I read all the installment of the Sookie Stackhouse mysteries by Charlaine Harris. Another one should be out sometime soon and it's already on my pre-orded list in amazon.

I tried reading her other mystery series too (Aurora Teagarden) and some of them are good too though Sookie is still my favorite. I heard they're HBO is doing a series titled "True Blood" that were based on the Southern Vampire books.

Really? I'll have to keep my eyes open for that. I think it'd be pretty spiffy to see her in a TV show.

I'm only a few pages into book four and I love the series so far. =]
They aren't the most well written books I've ever read, but I've fallen in complete character adoration with Sookie, and Alcide and even Eric for a little while.
I really rather enjoy the story itself and that things keep being revealed as the stories go on.
The conflict between Sam and Sookie also keeps things interesting. =]
Its one of my favorite series now, I think. I'm really glad my sister bought me the box set for christmas.

Oh wow, I haven't read these yet, but I have a lot on my reader in the cue to be read. They look really good. I just have been so busy reading other things I forgot I even had them. Maybe I can find some time next Halloween to read them. This last Halloween I read all but the last in the twilight. I am saving it cuz I am fairly sure I will hate, and I mean HATE what happens to Jacob. I have read some spoilers for it. I just couldn't go into the book know knowing what to expect. If my husband ever sees me throw the ereader he won't let me use it anymore. The Sookie books seem less high schooling and more about real social issues.

I can't decide if I want to read them since I've been so tainted by the tv series. It is one of the only times I've seen the movie or the tv show before reading it and I've become attached to the characters. I heard a couple of spoilers and I don't know if I want those things to happen. Will I still be able to enjoy the show if I read them?

Read the first Sookie novel but her Haper Connelly (wrong spelling i think on surname) series is great with a great first-person dialogue that is hard to best.

I got my hands on a book called Dead and Gone a few months ago because it was about vampires, were-beings and shifters, and I loved how the characters were portrayed and looking forward to what Charlaine Harris comes out with next. Anyone else familiar with her series of books?

I have read them all other than the last one, which I am reading at the moment, which is I believe is called: From Dead to Worse. I'm pretty excited about the newest book out, which I am going to wait until it comes out in paperback.

"True Blood" has been out for awhile n_n; Season 2 just ended and Season 3 is in the works.

I am obsessed with it and have been trying to get my hands on the books for some time now. Admittedly, HBO has a bad habit of making their shows into soft-semi-porn and TB is no exception. From what I recall of the very first episode, I think we're introduced to Jason while he's having a sexual encounter (one of many). So if you're not into seeing nekkid people running around, then I don't suggest it. But if you're of age and don't really give a crap, go ahead! Personally, I don't care either way because the plot line is so dang good. The acting's not bad either, although I'm not a fan of Stephen Longmeyer as Bill in certain episodes. He seems to overdue it at times. Alexander Skarsgard, on the other hand...YUM ;D

Charlaine Harris is actually quite prolific. Not only has she done the Sookie Stackhouse (Southern Vampire Series), but she also has the Harper Connelly series, The Aurora Teagarden Series and the Lily Bard (Shakespear Series) and several other stand alone novels.

While The Southern Vampire series is currently her most popular due to the True Blood series on HBO, her other books were actually much more popular than those until recently. Basically, she just writes mysteries. I think she has gotten a following with the Sookie novels because of the vampire twist on things. Also, she has done something interesting and sort of unique with her world and mythology.

I am quite fond of the Harper Connelly books. I think its a unique take on a mystery novel. And they are pretty fun.

At the moment I am reading a book of hers called "Club Dead" and I think its based on the series of true blood. i like this series as a show and a book and I still think that Eric.N. is sexy but not as much as lestat from the otehr vampire series but Eric is more real. What I want to know is how sookie fell in love with Bill.(totally not my type) Lol.

Actually, once I read where Sookie's telepathy comes from, that's when I decided I loved the books much more than the HBO series. I've got a weakness for books that bring the fairy realm into a modern setting.

I've only read the first book of the Sookie Stackhouse series so far. It was good, but I just haven't gotten around to reading anymore of the series, since Korean class pretty much owns my life. :/

I've got to be honest...I haven't read them yet! I'm getting into them because of the True Blood series on HBO. :] I bought the first couple of books and I've been wondering how different they are from the tv show. I'm not expecting them to be exactly the same because I know that rarely happens on book to tv/movie conversions :P Anywho, I really like fantasy book series so I'm bound to like this :D

the whole reason I read the book was because of my obession with the show. I was surprised at how different they actually are. I think it's a good thing though, it REALLY keeps you guessing and I like that. :)
Eitehrway they never disappoint. I have yet to read the hardcover ones because I'm too cheap to buy them, but I look forward to it. :)

My librarian recommended them to me, and I've read a few chapters into Dead until Dark, but I can say I'm not impressed so far. I'll wait it out and finish the book, but I probably won't finish the series. I'm just not hooked. It IS hard to judge a book from just a few chapters, but...
