Matilda. I got the movie when I was about five, and I read the book for something in 4th grade. Still in my list of top books.

He is one of my favorite authors. He writes some of my favorite books and is one of those authors that in my opinion, makes you think aboput writting your own story.

He's a good author.
But he doesnt only do children's books though.
Skin by him, [Which i am currently reading along with another book] is definitely not for children. It is quite disturbing really. >.>;
But my favorite children's' book by him, hands down, has to be The BFG.

I have his book called Skin and I don't think it's a childs book at all. Some stories were a little to graphic for young kids. He is however a great author and I hope to read more of his books.

I liked all of his books. I love Witches and Danny, the champion of the world. Did he write Stuart Little? It's been a while I read Dahl's books. I used o love reading books about witches. At one point, I thought my mom was one! She used to wear her sunglasses all the time even when there was no sun and in Dahl's book it said that witches had no feet but my mom's feet are weird and scrunched together so it looks like it's messing a toe! So all these little clues added up to me being sacred of my mom when I was 10! ;)

I always read the books when I was a child, I just loved the...
Matilda, and the story about the giant (no clue what the books name is in
English, I have read them all in Dutch XD)
I saw a cartoon about the giant one, and the movie of Mathilda.
It was fun when I was a child, but now I'll just stick to the books XD
I don't realy have a favorite though.

Roald Dahl! I think I have almost all of his chilldren's novels! But I also have a book of poetry by him and some others I've yet to read.
Danny, Champion of the World or The Giraffe, The Pelly and Me are my second and third favorites.
But I just can't get over Lamb to the Slaughter, it's wonderful. Easily one of my favorite short stories.

I absolutely adore Roald Dahl <3
He was one of my favorite authors when I was in elementary school!
His books are so witty, clever, and unlike other authors, he can actually write. I have the Roald Dahl Treasury, a collection of excerpts from his stories, and it rocks! Every single book of his is so unique and original, we sometimes wonder where he gets it from.
I have no idea how many times I read The Witches, Matilda, the BFG, and even his autobiographies. I think I'm the only person who found those interesting XDD

My Second Grade english teacher read George's Marvelous Medicine to us a chapter at a time after lunch every day until she finished it. That was the first "Chapter Book" in school that I ever fell in love with. I don't remember being overly excited about english class, but that book made it fun (while it lasted).
I actually don't think I ever heard or read that story again after the teacher read it to us, but I've always remembered it vividly and fondly. I should buy and read that book the next time I'm at the bookstore. *nods*
The only of his other works that I know anything about is Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, and I never really cared for that growing up. I wonder if I would appreciate it more if I read it again, now?

I love Roald Dhal, he's one of those authors that writes adult stories disguised as kids books. To this day I'll pick up BFG or The Witches. He was one of those authors who's movies based on the books were actually pretty frickin' good :O I used to looooooove the movie of The Witches. Matilda wasn't bad either.
I'd really like to see them make BFG... but with the state hollywood is in these days, something tells me I'd be hugely disappointed. That was one of the first books I really latched on to as a little girl, outside of Alice's adventures in Wonderland. My momwould read those two to me over and over again for bedtime... I bet she loathed it after a certain period of time. xD

I think the best thing I have read by him would have to be "The Land Lady."
Nothing twisted about it at ALLLL..
But, when you think about it, it's preeeeetty twisted. I read it in English class a.k.a. Language Arts.

I don't think I ever actually read any Roald Dahl book, aside from the BFG, and James and the Giant Peach. ^^;. I don't remember anything about the BFG, though- but I remember loving James and the Giant Peach. :). I also liked the movie versions of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory(both of them), and the movie adaption of Matilda, so I imagine that I would have liked the books that they're based off of, too. I'll have to remember to read them someday. :).

Charlie and the chocolate factory was one of my favorite books by him. I also loved James and the giant peach. I could read those books over and over again. I was not too crazy of Johnny Depps movie version of Charlie and the chocolate factory. But the one with Gene Wilder was ok.

I read 'Lamb to the Slaughter' in school so I would interested in reading more of his stories for young adults, and adults.
James and the Giant Peach was the first film I ever saw in a cinema as well. I still love it, Miss Spider is my favourite. I love the cartoon of BFG as well as the book. I think overall my favourite story would be The Witches even though I think it's quite twisted in the end the way the boy is happy to stay as a mouse because it means he won't outlive his grandmother.
I have the Roald Dahl Treasury as well, it was a present from my mum when she was a member of a book club. It's so heavy, I used to get my parents to read the stories from it and I would always want to try the recipes, but I never did.
Overall I prefer the adaptation of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory with Gene Wilder, but the Tim Burton/Johnny Depp adaptation is actually closer to the book in places.

one of my favorites has to be Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. I liked that book and my fave character in that is, well, guess by my name. Why did I like Violet Beauregarde (she's gumchewing girl who turned into a blueberry)? Because I just thought she was really cool. I don't have to have a reason, do i? I'm a somewhat random person. I saw both movies as well, in fact I saw the Gene Wilder version of the film before I read the book. I like the Gene Wilder movie best, I like the book, but I don't care for the remake. I didn't like Violet in the remake, either. My other favorite was Matilda, that was an awesome and funny book! I also liked the movie. My favorite character in that was, well, Matilda.
