Yes, I love Roald Dahl, I used to always read his books x3
And Quentin Blake always drew the pictures in the versions I read, so I always associated them together.
I love how the BFG has all those dreams, and I want to taste that drink.. or was it that cucumber type thing that was yummy? ^^; I don't remember...
Oh.. and didn't something make him fart? o_o;;

I know BFG stands for Big Friendly Giant (I want to read that someday), my dad jokes that it stands for Big Freakin' Gun. For example, when he plays video games he pulls out this heavy weapon and says "Time to pull out the BFG." Why I mentioned this is because that title reminded me.

I love Roald Dahl! I've read Matilda, The Witches Of Eastwick, Charlie & The Chocolate Factory, Charlie & The Great Glass Elevator & Royal Jelly. That was just disturbing especially if you're already terrified of bees like me.

:D

I'm a big fan of Roald Dahl. I have read Boy, which is stories about him when he was a boy. I was also able to read The Magic Finger as well. I loved it. I had to read James and The Giant peach in Grade 2 , and I am glad I did, I like it alot. I thought that Esio Trot was a good read.I haven't read Danny, The Champion Of The World but my sister has. She adored it. I loved The BFG so much, it is one of my favorite childhood books. Unfournately, I didn't get to read Charlie and The Chocolate Factory either, I have watched the movie though. :sweat:
I watched the movie Matilda too.
I wish he hadn't died...

One of the greats of children's literature. I adored Charlie and the chocolate factory, to the point I had the first chapter nearly memorized and could recite it word for word, not even reading it as I flipped the pages.

The awesomest thing? I share his Birthday! Woohoo!

Roald Dahl's works are such classics. I really wish I saw more kids reading them. (Instead they're reading Hannah Montana books and Gossip Girl. *cringe*)

The first book of his I read was James and the Giant Peach. I think this was the guy who made me able to suspend my belief while reading because things could just get soooo silly, but I truly loved that book. :3 Then I kinda cheated and read the Great Glass Elevator after seeing the Chocolate Factory movie... and was pretty lost. Still read it, kinda enjoyed it, but I probably should have read the original Chocolate Factory before trying to read that. I'll get around to it one of these days. >.>

But my two favorites are actually his "autobiography" and... The Twits! One of my favorite short stories EVER. I think part of might've been that I got picked on a lot at school, so seeing such nasty people come to such a funny but complete end was just so satisfying to me. XD One of these days I'll snag a copy for myself from work, for memory's sake. *laughs*

@Violet:September 13th

Though several years before mine, not sure what the exact year is actually!

@Ebony: It's a shame they aren't reading anything. I really don't care what they read as long as they are reading. Sure quality is good, but in this day and age I'd settle for quantity.

Ah! I loved the sequel to Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. It is so out-there and insane. @[email protected] I once tried to explain the plot to a friend and it just ended up sounding totally weird and he didn't believe me.. so we looked it up. Turns out my re-telling was totally accurate. hehe.

I'm reading the novels that was directed at adults. I'm reading the Ratcatcher. I really liked his first story ever written [A piece of cake], when he was in the burning Gladiator, it was hilarious.

I agree that he also makes amazing children stories. Roald Dahl FTW!

He also has the gift of bringing readers to new genres. Most of the times when I've branched out into newer genres, the origin comes back to Roald Dahl. The short story? "Vicar of Nibbleswicke and Other Stories", read by Stephen Fry. My now increasing love of biographies? "Boy: Tales of Childhood".

Omg he will be forever and always one of the best childrens authors that has ever lived, I mean all his concepts were jsut inchanting. He knew exactly what kids love to read about, not example Charlie and the chocolate factory, what would a child want more than owning their own chocolate factory, also matilda - what more could you want that revenge on a teacher, thew same with georges mavelous medicine, revenge on an horrible family member!

He's such a brilliant author and I loved all of his children's books, but personally my favorite was one of his short stories he wrote called "Poison". We had to read it in our Literature class last year, and I think the moral is just so... meaningful.

I'm jealous of his writing skills and one day I hope to be just as good.
