I know he's a kid's author, but he's the best darn kids author ever!! D=<

Rawwr.

So, discuss... Roald Dahl. <3 My favourite book has to be Danny, the Champion of the World.

He isn't completely a children's author. He wrote a lot of short stories directed at adults. I know he had a few published in Harper's, Playboy and The New Yorker, and got a few of his plays filmed in Alfred Hitchcock Presents.

"Lamb to the Slaughter" is one of my favorites. Most high school English classes read it now, but I first saw it as the television show. Very dark and eerie.

"Lamb the the Slaughter" is my favorite short story of his too. I wanna make a comic out of it. n__n <3

And yeah, he's not JUST a children's author. I was a big fan of his childrens books when I was a little kid, but I grew up and started reading more of his books that weren't found in the children's section. My Uncle Oswald is awesome. It's one of my favorite books.

It is! Have you ever read the sequel? "Charlie and The Great Glass Elevator"? It is really weird. I also enjoyed his book "James and The Giant Peach." It was WAY better than the movie, as is usually the case when books are turned into movies.

I was a big fan of Matilda until they came out with the movie. X-P I still like the book, but I don't read it anymore.

I'm trying to think... I remember reading some of his short stories, but they were all in this big anthology, so the titles are a bit blurry. ^_^; They were children's stories, and it was a pretty long time ago. I could look it up, but I'm lazy, 'cause it's late. X-D

I remember when The Witches movie scared the hell out of me as a kid. I think I watched it in the first grade XD I think what freaked me out was that the ending wasn't the normal happily ever after.

I read his short story "A Piece of Cake" at age 12 or so. It wasn't quite as mean as some of his other ones and it made me look at candle flames differently then. XD
He had a lot of personal problems, I think...amazing how the dark jumbled bits of your past can help you come up with entertaining fiction. Or maybe not so amazing.

I've never been a big fan of his. I just dont like his writing style. There was though a rather funny, 'train saftey' guide thing that he wrote, i liked that. Also 'The Big Pig Book' amused me when i was young.

I love Roald Dahl. My favorite book back then was The BFG. One of my favorite movies is Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. I haven't read the book though.

Oh, and I didn't know Matilda was created by Dahl. But I like Matilda too.

my first taste of Dahl was at primary school i think, in the juniors, i loaned out two books from the school library called Dirty Beasts and Revolting Rhymes...

i cant really remember much of them now, but i sort of remember one about little red ridinghood keeping a revolver in her knickers....

O.o

I've read a couple of his books, and find them to be a bit weird - like he spent quite a bit of time... ummm... "experimenting" or something while writing. Not that his work is bad, just ... odd.
