Catcher in the Rye was very boring. Too, there was way to much foul language to my liking. Another reason that turned me off about that, was that my dad made me read it when I was in 2nd-3rd grade.
Great Expectations by Charles Dickens is so dull. To Kill a Mockingbird is that bad. I actually know one of her childhood friends. Not that it matters much. |
I found Grendel by John Gardner
absolutely boring, I washappy when I finished it. |
Christ the Lord out of Egypt by Anne Rice.
I know it's a good book and that I musn't say that I hate it, but it really is just boring. Sometimes I use it whenever I can't sleep. Sorry, but that's how I could describe it. I started reading it about six months ago, and I still haven't read half of the book. The most number of pages I could read is about 3. It's a really nice book, but I just think it's boring. |
The single most boring book, aside from textbooks, was the Yearling. I tried reading it once in fifth grade, and stopped after page 20 or so. It was so slow paced that for years afterwards, I refused to read anything that wasn't written in first person. And it was hell finding books. The only book I read that's written using third person was Harry Potter, and that was because it was recommended to me. That was the only series I would read that used that form of narration for a LONG time. That stupid book made me miss so many other good books. :(
I also hated A Wrinkle in Time. I tried reading that as a kid, and I think I got bored by page 10. |
@ Aluant
I also did not like the Catcher in the Rye, it couldn't capture my interest. However, I was one of the unlucky ones in my class, I didn't know about the summer reading list till after the summer was over, so I had to read four books as fast as possible. Catcher in the Rye Beowulf 1984 Brave New World. I loved all but the Catcher. |
I didn't care for any of George Orwell's books now that I think of it. Animal Farm was horrid and 1984 just didn't catch me.
Another book I can't stand is Prince and the Pauper by Mark Twain. |
I am sorry to say to all the fans of Harry Potter, that Harry Potter are the most boring books I've read. I just find the movies a little better, the books aren't as fun.

Island of the Aunts i thought it is one of the worst books i've read
|
I can't even remember the name, but there was a book I chose to read for school that was so boring that I fell asleep within the first 10 pages. I could NOT keep reading it, it was just so boring. I had to literally beg the teacher to let me change which book I was reading, since she had a policy where you couldn't change the book you were reading. I was young, though, so I started crying and she finally let me change the book.

I can't think of anything to add to the list at the moment. But reading through some of the thread was kind of funny, most of the books I like are in here xDD
Sometimes I've tried to read a book and then I have to come back to it later, it's not really boring it's just sort of the wrong thing for me to read at the time. |
^^
Well the most boring book I ever had read was about King Arthur. I checked the book out,but I never even took a look about what is it about! XP
|
The Dullest book I have ever read is "The Crucible".
has no content that lets you on to the plot. made me go close the book after the first chapter. |
The Grapes of Wrath by Steinbeck... ugh. I was supposed to read it one summer but I just couldn't get through more than half of it.
I also gave 1984 a chance and read it through, but it wasn't enjoyable. |
Personally, I believe that recently the most boring book I read was The Last of the Mohicans. It just didn't catch my attention very much. Most books older than I tend to do that. :'(
I don't know, maybe I just have an odd taste. |

The single most boring book, out of the hundreds of books I've read, would have to be the original frankenstein! Really, it's frankenstein. Who doesnt love that story? You would think that the original would be something special but it's not. She uses the most complicated words imaginable, but unlike poe, the usage of her vocabulary doesn't make the book more interesting. Also, for it's small size, there's alot of unnecessary and boring detail. Edgar Allan Poe, on the other hand, uses alot of detail, but his is interesting and pulls his stories together. For anyone who is a fan of Frankenstein, if you ever pick up the original version, put it down before it's to late. It's worse than bram stokers dracula...

the MOST boring book for me is Robert Asprin's The Little Myth Marker. I bought that book in a booksale, thought it was interesting but it bored me. i want to get rid of it but noone seems to be interested to have it too.

Holy Crap! The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn hands DOWN! We had to read that in school and I about fell asleep every chapter. ><; I like Mark Twains story ideas and concepts but I couldn't stay awake to save my life! That and the fact that I never knew Tom Sawyer could go on and oooooooooooon about one idea and make a simple plan more elaborate than it needed to be. ><;;; Anyways that bored me to death. I tried to read War of the Worlds on my own but ,I too, got bored.

A book called think big. I don't even
recall the authors name. Ah, my gosh..that book was so very very very boring .____. My mother made me read it when I was in the 6th grade. |
The most horrid book I've read was this book I read in middle school. I don't even remember the title but it was about some native american girl and her time in a fort. It was BORING lol. Watt was pretty bad - I like Watt now - but at the time of reading Watt I was like 'WTF!!!!'
Brave New World was pretty bad as well - I had to read it in 10th grade and the whole book is pretty much a warped world revolving around sex and drugs. Some of my class liked it - most of my class hated it. I suppose if I went and reread it now for fun it won't be as bad - but at the time it was horrible. I love Gulliver's Travels but it's such a slow read - it takes me a while to read because it's just such a dry book, noting every tiny little thing Gulliver does and then some. I do love satire though and that's why I pushed through with the book :D |
Most boring book is one of the bunch i had to read for the end of high school exams. They usually pick a theme for us and the books that are best to express that. So we had this book from a local writer about this young lady getting merry to an old guy having like 5 of his kids and then while working on the fields falling for a local boy that just loved her fat ankles. Dont ask a weird book smelling of field soil and to much sweat to be even readable in my humble opinion.

Without a doubt, the most boring book I've read is '1984'. It was that boring I can't even remember who wrote it. Animal Farm comes a close second.
|
I don't remember what the title of the book was, but I know it was by Tolstoy. It was really really long.
Wasn't exactly boring, but it was daunting. xD |
Perfume by Patrick Suskind. I was curious about the book after reading lots of good reviews and hearing so much about how unique this book is, but I was really disappointed. Unique, yes, but I discovered that's not necessarily a good thing... A fascinating masterpiece people said, extremely boring is my opinion. Maybe the movie is better? :P
|
Boring book? I think I know one. Ordinary People is one. The title says all. It's too related to real life to be interested in it. I'm not the type to like normal real life.
