I completely agree with Vanila. I read the book before the movie came out, and it's hands down of my favorite books of all time. I recommend it to everyone that asks, and some that don't. I'm even thinking about reading it again soon.

The movie, on the other hand, was one of the wretched experiences I've ever gone through. I watched it at my house, and watching it was like watching a train wreck.. you want to look away, but you want to see how bad it'll get. The movie was horrible. There's absolutely no connection between the book and the movie.. none of the characters were portrayed as they were described in the book, they fxcked with the plot, and they weren't even in the right country!

In the book, Vivian goes after Aiden, not the other way around. In the book, Aiden accidently shoot Rafe and accidentally shoots Vivian; Aiden doesn't have some li'l brawl with Rafe in some monastery thing. In the book, there's a few mysterious murders that the pack is paranoid about. In the book, Gabriel is this muscular biker guy >< Not some skinny ass dude.

The book is much, much better.

I loved this book. It took me forever to read it since I never though that something with a title like that would be something that would interest me.

As far as the movie goes I thought that though they did change somethings, it didn't come out all that badly. When you think about it it could have been oh so much worse. At least they didn't leave out massive gaps from teh book like so many other movies that are made from books I've seen.

I read the book twice and I still want to read that book again. But sadly I saw the movie and it was a COMPLETE DISAPPOINTMENT! My friends wonder why I despise the movie so much. They read the book as well, but they don't remember much of what they read. So now they have the dvd for the movie and all I want to do is BURN IT! xD

i absolutly love this book!! i have read it at least 20 times.
the movie would have been ok, if it wasnt based on a book (if you can really say it was based), but the movie totaly recked the book. when i saw it i was reanting about it for an hour.
but the book its self was amazing.

Gah. I hated this book. The characters were so... self-indulgent. I liked that it wasn't just another Romeo Juliet boy meets girl thing. But the whole thing just seemed like an excuse to write really seductive scenes and fulfill a fantasy. Like the millions of half demons falling for vampires in pre-teen novels.
Granted. Some are well written. And anything that gets people writing is good with me.

All and all, this book was a generic pop song in the ipod of novels.

One bright and shining moment. Aiden wore tie-die.

  • My friend told me about this book last...Thursday, I believe. It seems like it'd be a good book to read, but I wouldn't let myself buy it. I'd have to go to a library and rent it.

I really liked the movie, but I've never read the book. I keep meaning to look for it, but I always get distracted when I enter a library. xD

I gather it's rather different from the movie?

yup the movie was absolutly awful, it wasn't like the book at all except for the characters names and the fact they were a differnet species.
The book was really good though and was a short enjoyable rollarcoaster of a book, with highs and lows spread through the book, my favourite parts are the fight between Astrid and Vivan (another black mark for the movie since it portrays a very different relationship between the two and i wanted a fight! ), the finale between them again at the end of the book, where Astrid dies and Viv can't change back, and when Gabrial talks Viv out of bemoaning her woes and gives a light hearted feel to the ending.

I read the book, and I really liked it.
I've read it 3-4 times, and I could still
pick it up and read it again.

When I heard there was going to be a movie
based on it, I knew it would altered from the
book in some way, but I wanted to see it anyway.

When I finally watched it, I hated it! They
completly destroyed the book's story. I hated
that movie so much.

Why do movie makers have to ruin a perfectly
good story when converting a book into a movie?

Because they makers can't be bothered to ask the author his opinion, and considering many movie goers will see the movie before reading the book they want the money from our pockets before the kids read the book and see how bad the movie was compared to the book.
It's the way of most things. The closest i've seen to a good book-made-movie was Holes thought there were some scenes i wanted to see and didn't but it was better than many a book that were sacrifieced for movie profit

I own the book, I brought it last year. Normally when I go shopping I try to hit up a book store and see if there is anything new..
I would say try to read Twilight and New Moon.. There two books from a series..

Anyways.. Blood and Chocolate was a great good. I loved it very much I've read it a few times now.
When I heard the movie was coming out I was surprised and scared because I knew it wouldn't be like the book.
The movie was pretty good, so don't get me wrong. It just wasn't like the book and that makes me slightly sad.

Personally If they were gonna make a movie I think it should be at lest 90% base on the book. It was more like 25%... they never met in a church it was in school and because of her drawing and his poem.
She didn't run away with him.. she end up staying with the alpha male of the pack and the Human boy tried to kill her.

Still it was a pretty good movie if you haven't read the book, but if you are one of the folks who have read it.. you will be slightly disappointed.

This has to be one of my favorite books. I have read it many time. I couldn't believe it was so great. It has to be one of the best Werewolf books I have ever read. I liked how the character I loved (Adrian) turned out to be the character I hated in the end and how the character I pretty much hated because he had such a big ego (Gabe) turned out to be the one I loved. That does not happen too often when I read books. I tend to stick with one character good or bad, I just couldn't stay with Adrian, I had to come to love Gabe.

The only reason I have not come to despise the Movie is because I just blanked the book out of my mind while I was watching the movie, and just liked the movie on it's own merits. It wasn't bad as long as you do not associate it with the book, but if you do associate it with the book, that movie would be absolutly horrid.

Yeah the movie pissed me off like you have no idea. Seriously..if the names weren't the same and it wasn't called Blood and Chocolate..I would have never had known it was based off the book.

What really made me mad, was that the guy who wrote the movie..his excuse for it being different was because "You can't put a 800 page book into an hour and a half. It just makes me wonder if he actually even read the book. It was like only 200 pages or something. Plus, even if it was 800 pages, that still doesn't excuse so many changes.

This was a decent book. I read it after some of my Twilight buddies begged me to and I didn't see what they thought was so amazing about it. The book was definitely better than the movie though.

  • Amazing book. This thread is kinda old and the movie did ruin it. I had started the movie out of mere interest, and got frustrated then fast-forwarded to end, the part that makes me cry and when they had totally changed it I got really really really really really really really really really super super mad.

I didn't manage to read this book until after high school. I feel in love with it though. It was the first werewolf book I had ever read. After I saw that there was a movie, I wanted to see it. I was lucky to be smart enough not to buy it though. I watched it on gaiaonline in the VJs. I was so disappointed in it. It was the first time I was disappointed in a movie make of a book that I had read. I wished they had stuck to the book more. The movie alone is alright but compared to the book its horrible.
