Oh, I adore this book. This book is my Twilight, if you get the reference, haha. When everyone else was obsessing over the vampires, I was happily reading about my beloved werewolves in my nice quiet corner.
A few months ago, I grabbed the movie from Blockbuster.
Ew.
I screamed in frustration at some point, because that was NOT even remotely close to the book. WTF? What did they do to Gabriel?!
D:
I was so excited when I heard about the movie, too, but it just pissed me off. I love the book so much, though. I've always wished their was a sequel.
Know the funny part?
My school does this thing called the Reading Olympics. It's basically where they give us a list of books to read over the summer and school year, and then come April, we get the team together and go to another school to answer questions based on the books. We get ribbons of different colors depending on how well we do.
We only got the red ribbon this year, since we had, like, seven books out of thirty that nobody wanted to read because they sucked that bad.
>>
Anyway, last year, one of our books was Twilight. EVERYONE on the team read it, but our team captain refused to let anyone else answer the questions, since she believed that she was the biggest fan. B-...rat. Anyway, this year's list has Blood and Chocolate on it, and I shrieked in glee. And so help me, if she tries that "But I'm a bigger fan", I'm going to shove the book down her throat.
D:
I can't wait for this year's competition, just because of this book being on the list.

I loved the book but the movie didn't give the book justice. The book is way better and I loved the ending.

I love the book but the movie..... is rubbish - to use the polite term - the ONLY cool things about movie was when the wolf eyes appeared while they were human and the way they went from man to wolf.
Other than that... there was no similaity except for the people's ages and names. The rest from the setting to the relationships between characters was just... just wrong!
If Anyone doesn't know Astrid is supposed to be a murdering upstart that battles Vivian to become Alpha Female (she loses). Not the loving auntie and warm body and beating bag for Gabrial.

Books that are turned into movies are hardly ever as good. I haven't read the book or seen the movie. But I find that is you do both it is always best to see the movie first. you're less disappointed and then the book becomes more interesting, at least that's the way it was for me.

I read the book when I was a sophomore. I HATED it. With a passion.
I mean, I'm all up for supernatural creatures. I'm a HUGE Twilight saga and Uglies saga fan. But even back before the time that I really focused on my choice of literature being demanding, I found Blood and Chocolate a total waste of time. Not only was it horribly written (beyond even Twilight), but I never felt any connection towards the characters. It seemed like a badly written fanfiction of some unknown werewolf movie.
Not only do I remember myself hating the book, but I have also forgotten
what the plot was really about. I only remember vague notions. And for a book not to make an impression in my mind is a scary thought, seeing as my imagination runs on the books I have read.

I stayed up past one finishing it last night. It was SO GOOD. I was expecting a fun read, but what I got was another book added to my favorites list. <3
I really enjoyed Vivian's character. She was so interesting! The pack dynamics were fun to read about as well. And I LOVED the ending! I totally didn't expect it, but once I thought back on it, there were plenty of hints, and it wove into the story very well. So, it was suprising, without being out of the blue- my favorite type of book ending.
I don't know if I should watch the movie or not. :X I've heard nothing but bad things about it from people in real life, except from one girl I don't like that much- I don't really trust her taste in books and movies either, soooo... Plus, since I've read the book and enjoyed it so much, I'd probably just be sad that they butchered it.

I think that they completely ruined the movie. It would have been a great film if it wasn't supposed to be based off of the book. Sorry to say but Harry Potter fans who hate the movie have nothing to complain about compared to Blood & Chocolate fans. At least with books like Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings they stuck mostly to the story. Blood and Chocolate was nothing, I repeat, NOTHING like the book. I regret reading the book first before watching the movie (Yes, I have not read either the Harry Potter books nor the Lord of the Rings books). I just hope that the Twilight movie isn't as disappointing as Blood & Chocolate, but it looks to me (from the trailors I've seen) that it will be along the lines of how the book was. Anyways, I hate the fact that, that stupid movie came out on my birthday.:-x

I absolutely loved the book. :'3 I think I got it several years ago on a trip to the beach or something..? Best spur-of-the-moment purchase yet. >w>
I really loved the interactions between Vivian and the pack; how the human characters were written with wolf-like mentality and such..
But the movie? Oh gawd, I wanted to rip my eyes out! The ending pissed me off so badly. Well, the whole movie rather did. D: What was with the chocolate shop? Why in the blazes was Vivian flaunting her werewolf side by jumping off walls? Where did that warehouse come form?
I was so mad when they changed the ending of the book to make a sappy cliche ~luv~ story for Hollywood. >3> If I hadn't read the book and watched that movie, I doubt I'd have read the book at all, ya know..?

That almost always happens with movie adaptations. It makes me kind of sad watching a movie they've done this to, even when the film is good. I remember finding this book in an empty classroom my first year of high school and loving it. I also just read it a few months ago and enjoying it just as much as I did ten years ago. I think the best thing about it is how it makes the main character vulnerable without seeming naive. She's intelligent and sexually awakened which is something that characters of that age don't get portrayed as in media even though its something that happens in real life.

Blood and Chocolate in one of my favourite books too. I could probably rant for hours about how much I despise that movie for raping my favourite book up the butt with no lube. It was terrible. I left the movie theater with a horrified look on my face.
