If a book doesn't do that to me, I find it very hard to read.
To be honest.
Particularly, the Twilight series (Twilight, New Moon, and Eclipse) was truly addictive for me. 500+ page books, and I finished all of them in less than five days. (Not consecutively, but each one was completed in under five) I read Eclipse for at least six hours at a time -- until I had to eat, that is. ><;;
Most of the Harry Potter books were incredibly addictive, but I don't find Deathly Hallows to be that way. :|

that has happened to me with every book i have read, except the oddessy, it was very hard to understand, but i am 3 years older, and i am thinking of giving t another shot!!!

only_me 08-18-2007 06:55 PM

it was like that for me with Uglies by scott westerfeld. and also pretty much any book i've ever read by piers anthony. there always seems like there is something wrong in my life when i'm not reading one of his books...

--love.x.hate-- 08-19-2007 10:28 PM

Oh yea that happens to me a lot, but that means I really love the book.

Liz 08-19-2007 11:47 PM

Yeah!!! Only with mangas!! When they are romantic or it's about tragedy, I cainda forgot that I am in a store!! LOL!! <<3333

LadyKikyo 08-22-2007 04:33 PM

I do that a lot. especially Robert Jordan, Terry Goodkind, and RA Salvatore. I used to with VC Andrews too, but I kinda grew out of the books.... just werent as good to me after so many different series of them.

Oh many times!
It seems when I was a kid it happened more often, considering I was reading Goosebumps and Junie B. Jones. :3
But now-a-days, the 'Can't Put Down' books I've read are:
Kira-Kira
Battle Royale the Novel
Green Angel
So B It
and A Walk To Remember.
(:

Terry Pratchett's discworld books.

I have read all of the several times.
They are wonderful pascinades <3

Yeah, with most books I read I do this. If it's a short one I will almost always finish it in one day. If it's longer usually I read it from when I wake up until I go to sleep only getting up to eat or use the bathroom. I can usually finish a very long book in two-three days like this. I can only recall one book that I was able to put down. It was some adult literature, it was all about older-aged [maybe in their 40's] characters and their boring mid-life lives and boring romances. It was a terrible book, and it took me over a year to finally finish it :S

This is definitely one reason why I don't read all that much. If I took my time to go to the library more often my whole life would be CONSUMED with reading, and I already spend most of my time on the computer! ^-^;

I've had that happen to me many times. Which leads me to staying up until 2 or 3 am finishing the book. That happened with Jim Butcher's Furies of Calderon. It was really hard to put the last book down as well, and I'm eagerly awaiting the next in the Codex Alera series.
There are three books in the series so far;
Furies of Calderon
Academ's Fury
Cursor's Fury

YESSS TAMORA PEIRCE, HARYY POTTER, ERAGON!!!! All of them did it to me, plus, wind in the willows(very old book which i thought was boring)

That sometimes happens to me when I read books..haha I remember when I was reading Harry Potter I didn't want to put the book down so by the time I was finished it I was pretty hungry and tired..good thing it was the weekend and the first book or else I wouldn't have gotten my school work done and I'd be tired in the morning!

amethyst_66au 10-03-2007 10:30 AM

I find that happens a lot with me. The set of books that I find the hardest to put down is the Sword of Truth series by Terry Goodkind.

teddycrazy 10-03-2007 11:08 AM

I absolutely adored Ella Enchanted, Fariest, and the rewritten version of certain fairy tales. You should also try out "Two Princesses of Bamarre".
That's also by Gail Carson Levine. It's about two princesses that are sisters. One shy, and one fierce. It has romance and fantasy in it.

Jimminie Krickit 10-07-2007 04:15 AM

I get that way when I read Stephen King. I could read and re-read all of his works.

Oh, and with Edgar Allen Poe.

I_AM_THE_TV 10-07-2007 04:20 AM

I couldn't put down Isaac Asimov's The Ugly Little boy. If you enjoy speculative and plausible science fiction, I have to recommend it. Oh, and The Once and Future King by T.H. White and Jurassic Park by Micheal Crichton. Those are some great books.

Shanti 10-07-2007 07:07 PM

yes.... YESYESYES!!! I haven't read ella enchanted actually, I've just seen the film... And it's my favourtie!! I love it. It's so warm and cozy!!=) Not being able to put a book down happens to me all the time... Everyone I know thinks I'm hopless when I've start reading a book... Because when I'm reading something, there's nothing more to me than that book. I completely zone out. It almost goes to the extent that I don't eat, lol! I just lie in my bed in my pyjamas the whole day and read... Well I'm a bit extreme=) But I just love reading so much...<3

Kisa 10-07-2007 10:26 PM

Yeah, that's happened to me before. I was bringing a book to school to read, and I was only going to read the first chapter at home but ended up reading the whole thing. But I can't remember the name of it.

ary 10-08-2007 05:44 PM

ohmygod. What an awesome thread xD

Terry pratchett, Tamora Pierce, ella enchanted and the like.
Twilight, New moon.
Searching for Alaska.. And another random good books :D

But yes, I love reading books that make you keep reading. ^_^

Admonish Misconstruction 10-09-2007 04:46 PM

Yes I have. Many, many books. All start reading it at a friends, steal it and put it on my own bookshelf, go buy the book and sneak it onto their book shelves XD.

littleaes 10-09-2007 06:19 PM

I love books. I adore them. I read Chibi-Vampire the Novel recently, both one and two in 2 days. I'm a fast reader, which helps. I absolutely loved them. I still wish I could find a third in the series...

Other books that have done this to me are books from Elizabeth Haydon, specifically the Rhapsody Trilogy, and Wizards Ward. Books are wonderful things, aren't they? ^^

Equivalent Exchange 10-10-2007 03:56 AM

For One More Day and The Five People You Meet in Heaven by Mitch Albom. I almost cried reading those, and I'm a self-proclaimed manly man. I highly suggest it. But back to your question, not really. I can pick up where I left off because most books aren't that exciting. I've tried to read Dracula and Door to December at the same time as a school project- to see if contemporary still holds the formula that old writing does, and I can't seem to pick them up.
