Hoo, I do it all the time. I do recall the worst case, though.
At the time I was reading The Oath by Frank E. Peretti. I got so entranced that 11:00pm, the time I usually retire for the night, arrived and passed. I looked up to see it was 1:00am. I thought "Whoops, I had better finish this chapter..." but I kept going even after. I finished the book at 8:00am, and didn't have a wink of sleep the entire time. Not one of my better mornings, let me tell you. |
It always happened to me when I read the next "Harry Potter" book for the first time. "Eragon" is this kind of book, too ("Eldest", not so much, with constant switching from Eragon to his brother and back to Eragon). Also, when I was reading Brandon Sanderson's "Elantris" I couldn't focus on anything else. I simply HAD to know what's gonna happen next.

That happens to me when I'm reading a lot of books. When I started reading a book called The City of Ember by Jeanne DuPrau, I couldn't put it down until I finished! I just kept reading, and reading - all through dinner, all through the time I was supposed to be doing my homework, etc. etc.
Another example would be Alt Ed by Catherine Atkins, which I finished in 3 hours straight. > w > |
Yes.
A Great and Terrible Beauty was one book. Wicked was another. |
flowers in the attic by v.c. andrews, the harry potter series, but i've read soooo many books and i know there were more but i can't think of them off the top of my head
|
A couple of Mary Higgins Clark books and I whipped through Musui a story about a Tokugaway Samurai. I got over 3/4 done with the book in about 4 1/2hrs and finished it up the next day. It was a good book.

I, Lucifer (Glen Duncan)- My favourite book ever. Got it on a whime because the premise sounded funny, couldn't put it down and spent the whole day reading it all on the sofa.
The Princess Bride was another favourite, along with Flint & Silver (John Drake), the Lucifer comic series (Mike Carey). Basically, if it's funny and has a bit of a weird edge to it then I'll read it with haste. |
I've had so many books like that. But very recently, like two days ago, I read the Hunger Games. It was so good! I loved it. I can't wait for the second one.
|
All the time! For real! I hate having to stop reading a book, even if it's looooong. When I get a book to read, I get so excited, I just want to know what happens and sometimes I even forget to sleep! Lol!
|
That would be 'Indiscretion'!!!! I just got in random...i was a bit pput off by the time I realised its a love story but...in the end...it turned out to be one of the greatest books EVER!!!!!!!!!!
The same thing happened with "the Historian". I couldnt study well since reading the book consumed all my time! |
I hate to admit it but the first three twilight books did that to me X_X
then the hunger games, that book is amazing. The book thief, which is my all time favorite book ever. The very first night world story. <3 |
That's happen to me several times but not recently, and unfortunately I don't quite remember what books did that to me :/ I wish I did because maybe then I could reread them :)
|
The only one that ever got me like that was the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. RIP, Douglas Adams.
|
Happens ALL the time -_-
I hate how you dont mean to read all of it in such a short time but it happens!
That experiance has happened to me MANY times. Here are just SOME lol :insane: The Host Evermore Tithe Valiant Ironside Daughters Of the Mon Series Sisters Of Isis Series And probably more im forgetting~ :sarcasm: |
Yeah I did it was called "my cousin rachel" it is awesome.
|
Yes I've had this problem where I cant put a book down. The last one that was like that was vampire kisses*fist one* read it when i should be studying for my finals but didn't, thank god i had a good memory. And it took me one moth to finish the entire Twilight series (creeped the hell out of my parents because i was reading all the time and not doing my usual stuff)
|
Wolf Moon - One of my favorites. ^^ I don't usually like things with that much romance, but it was actually done really well. It was near the center of the plot, but it wasn't sleazy, and it didn't take over.
Walking in Circles Before Lying Down - Um... a guilty pleasure. Had its sleazy moments, but mostly in mention, not really detail. The dogs were hilarious. It's the first time I've ever looked at anything actually labeled as a "novel," and it may be the last, but it was entertaining. |
:o oh my goodness this happens to me all the time, even books that are assigned for schoolwork!! <3
|
Lol, all the time, sadly. It has gotten me in trouble quite a few times. D:
|
I remember the day I got Harry Potter and The Goblet of Fire, I got the book at 10:00 am and was finished at 4 pm.
|
When I first got Darren Shan's Cirque du Freak (or The Saga of Darren Shan outside of the US) I wasn't too interested. then I read it. in one sitting. A book that should have taken me three hours to read only took me one and a half.
|
Maybe perhaps the meredith gentry series starting with the last kiss, well i put it down for a second to blush when i found out that it was a mature book, but thats about it
|
Well, most of the book I don't put down (and essentially read in a day) tend to be books that are short. So it's not really because they are so good, but because they're simple reads.
However, I did read Mark Z. Danielwiski's (spell?) House of Leaves recently. I read it all in a day, translationed one of the crazy mom's letters at the back of the book, and rushed around the house showing it off to my parents. I think that qualifies as my most recent 'couldn't put down'. Haha! Edit:: I forgot about Brave New World by Adolus Huxley. I read that in a day too. Brilliant book if you're into political 'Utopia' type books. |
I've had that happen several times before- especially when it comes to Meg Cabot's books. At least, the ones that have some fantasy/supernatural themes to them. XD. I also had a hard time putting down Twilight when I read it- but couldn't even make it through chapter 4 of New Moon. o-o;. The same also applies for the Vampire Kisses series, the Slayers novels, the Scrapped Princess novels, One Good Knight by Mercedes Lackey, and Blood and Chocolate by Annette Curtis Klause. And there's a bunch more that I've had the same problem with that I can't remember off the top of my head. ^^;.
