I just got the Complete Grimm's Fairytales. I've noticed several things about the stories contained within.
1. They all contain common themes. Marrying princesses, magical items, et cetera. A lot of stories even use the exact same themes in a row. For instance, one story will be about a girl with extremely long hair who can't speak, and a King rides up, finds her beautiful, asks her if she wants to marry him, and she nods. And the very next story I read will have the same thing in it.
2. Our ancestors seemed to be severely lacking in logic. In fact, they seemed downright insane.
3. However, some stories seem to have more logic, common sense, and empathy than others, which suggests they may be more recent.
Aren't these stories fascinating?
