I LOVE this Triad and i am very surprised that no one has really mentioned it, the Triad consists of three books (obviously):

The Bone Doll's Twin
Hidden Warrior
Oracle Queen

And the summary of the triad is that a girl turned boy turned back to a girl -princess- has been prophesised to take back the throne from mass-murdering uncle and later cousin whom she/he partly grew up with.

I'm sorry, I'll always prefer her Nightrunner series (Alec and Seregil) to the Bone Doll books. I especially hold a place in my heart for her rant at the beginning of the third book, about trilogies.

I'm more of a Nightrunner fan too but I do like the Tamir books. Lynn Flewelling is an awesome writer. I also like that her stories are more than just high fantasy, there's always this light touch of the macabre right under the surface.

Set years later, Seregil, a thief and a bit of a cad meets Alec, a young lad, and (wow, that's starting to sound like a limerick) takes him in, trains him. Arkoniel's student, Nysander (or maybe his student's student, I'm not sure) is a close friend of Seregil. It's more fast-paced fantasy drama. And Seregil and Alec are a cute couple.
