I know it's not the same thing at all, but your description somewhat reminds me of the intro to Mercedes Lackey's Arrows of the Queen, when Talia is reading one three books, marking her as an outsider since Holderkin generally don't know how to read.

It's got a whole lot more to the story! But I really hope you like it! I love it! It's a great read and it's got so many original ideas to it! I won't tell you so you can read it on your own, but it really rocks!

I'm in the middle of it right now. Mosca and Clent are in Mandelion and the Lockmakers just stole Clent's report. I think.
I really like this book. it teaches me new words too! Haha, I'm much like Mosca, well, not really. I mean, my uncle doesn't lock me in the mill or anything. but I LOVE words. Mellifluous is my favorite out of that book so far.
Say, does anyone know if Mosca really does mean housefly?
