If you like historical fiction AND fantasy, you should read Henry Hudson's "Green Mansions." It takes place in the jungles of Central/South America, where a man is visiting and living among the Indian tribes there. He follows a strange-sounding bird into the jungle, and she happens to be a magical creature that can turn into a human woman. Of course he falls in love with her, but she's not really quite human, so... Can't tell you any more! Just read it. ^^

I'm on a Historical Fiction binge too! Right now I'm reading The Other Boleyn Girl. May I suggest The Twentieth Wife and Feast of Roses by Indu Sundaresan? Wonderful wonderful books about the twentieth wife to the emperor of India in the 1500s. Well written, in depth, and just overall very good.

Great suggestions, I am making quite a list on top of the list already had!
So far Mademoiselle Boleyn is a great read. Quiet a different look at the famous Boleyn as a young girl.
Wishcat, I loved that book. I can't wait to see what they did with the movie.
I really need to branch out from England and Europe. I would like to read some historical fiction in other countries.

I love historical fiction! o: Generally, my tastes lead towards more trashy things, since it's what I read when I'm stressed. I love Through a Glass Darkly by Karleen Koen, but am not too fond of her other works :/ Also, Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell is my favorite book, it takes place in nineteenth century England, but in an alternate history where magic has died out of England and has to be rediscovered. It's quite good <3

I've never really read much historical fiction so I have nothing to reccommend. Lately though, I've been reading alot of biographies which is kinda similar. Kinda.

Usually if I read historical fiction I'll read things that are centred around the ancient world Egypt, Greece, Rome. It's were I find the most enjoyment in history, though I have read a few historical novels set in Elizabethan times.

@rozabee - Huzzah for Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell! Definitely a very awesome book.
I've been reading some the sequels to The Three Musketeers (mid-seventeenth century France) lately. They're very enjoyable, although according to the annotations in the one I'm currently reading, Dumas apparently took a few liberties with his history, especially with dates. Still, they're really fun books.

I just finished 'Mademoiselle Boleyn' by Robin Maxwell. It's about Anne's young life when she was in France, before being courted by Henry VIII.
It was an interesting look at Anne.
My next one is 'Katherine' by Anya Seton and Phillipa Gregory.
True story of the love affair of Katherine Swynford and John of Gaunt, Duke of Lancaster. Set in the 14th century.

The Tales of the Otori is a historical fiction series set in Japan. The author is Lian Hearn. I recommend this book to anyone who loves old world Japan. This book is amazing. I became so attached to the characters that I cried reading the book.

Kurenia I don't read much Japan historical, but I have read "The Snow Fox" it was AMAZING.
Ohh and that you all for the recommendation for "The Last Boleyn" I had never heard of it. I will look for it next time I have some spare book moneys handy. I have a sony ereader, but damn, I could really use a kindle, these books are so cheeeeeppp!! It is hard to be a reader with the cost of paper going up so much. And Sonys bookstore is not nearly as expansive as Amazon.

I love history, so it's only common sense i like reading it xD
But, lack of money makes it so i tend to read wikipedia more than anything, or watch documentaries.
I do have some old books from when i was doing ancient history though, they're VERY interesting, i have one im working through of the Caeser's.
I'm mostly interested in Ancient archaeology and Ancient civilisation though.
I want to read more about Shakespeare's era though, Elizabethan/jacobean era's ^^

That sounds good Callisandra_Naveah. I think I looked at that one when looking for more Tudor novels.
I am now reading 'The Queen's Fool' by Phillipa Gregory. It's about Mary and Elizabeth Tudor.
