Mmmkay, so I love V.C. Andrew's books. All of them are great and I enjoy reading them, even if they are sad. I know a lot of people don't read them, considering they are more adult books. I started reading Flowers in the Attic when I was 11 and I was pretty much hooked. Does anyone else read these?

Hi, I've read all of her older series when I was younger. I liked them all, even though they all fall along the same theme.
Later, I picked up some of the newer books, the mini ones - I think it was the Orphans series - and didn't like them at all. Of course it is not her writing as she has passed away years ago. I have not yet read any of the longer series since as I am afraid to be dissapointed.
But I will always like Dollangers series and the Casteel series the best and plan to re-read them someday. I also like the stand alone 'My Sweet Audrina', The Cutler Series, etc.

Have you seen the Movie for 'Flowers in the Attic'?

Yes, the new mini series aren't as good, and I haven't really gotten into series. I think the last series I completed was the Gemini ones. Anywho..I am a big fan of all the ones you mentioned. Except for the Cutler one..I didn't like that one that much. I adored the Landry series though.

I don't think any of them past the My Sweet Audrina book is any of her writing. I saw somewhere it was a guy that picked up her writing. Even though he is starting to slack on these new series..for a male he makes really good female characters!

Yes, I bought the movie online a few years back. I was very disappointed in it. Not good at all.

I haven't read the Gemini ones, any good?

Cutler...that was Dawn? Yeah, I don't believe I liked that one as well. I just can't remember now. I loved the Dollangers and Heaven I believe was Casteel, now let me remember which one was Landry..*goes to look it up*....Oh yes Ruby..I did read those and now I can't for the life of me remember much about them. LOL I'll have to re-read them all now.

Yes, I believe you are correct. She dies somewhere in the first series and had left plots and half finished works behind. But the newest ones..uh no. Yes I thought is was a guy too.

I think for fun I will try the newest one I have on my shelf when I am done my current book. I believe I have Rain..or is it Willow? I'll have to check :P

The Gemini ones were pretty good. They were kinda different from the rest. He kinda got into the whole spirit thing and there were some ghosts.

Willow and Rain are both old ones...I didn't like either of them to tell you the truth. They made a movie about Rain..but since I didn't like the book I am not to eager to see the movie.

Yeah..that dude has been spewing off books lately like there is no tomorrow. I read the first of one of them, but didn't read the other three and there is another one that I bought..haven't read it yet though.

I don't know why I like the books so much, I always end up crying over them and getting all soppy. Oh jeeze..when I thought Troy died in the Casteel series it just broke my heart D;

Willow and Rain are oldish now, but new to me. LOL. I read the other ones (Dollanger, etc) in the late 80's early 90's :P, so I call anything after the Logan series new LOL. Willow is 2002, rain is 2000. I didn't know they also made a movie of Rain...

I haven't even looked at the new stuff that has come out recently.

Aha, I found it. She died isn 1986 after Dark Angel.

I loved all of the series, except the mini series.
I think my favorite had to have been...The Rain series.
The Gemini series was absolutly amazing though.
It was a little different then her usual (Yes I do
relize she has been dead for quite a while.) I still
think those were something unexpected. I would really
suggest the Gemini series if you wanna get back into
the V.C.Andrews books, Leela. The Willow series seemed
to leave off without telling the whole story. Which
kind of sucked. I didn't like that about the series,
but if it had been finished off, I imagine it would
have been one of my favorites by her as well.

@Leela What did you think of the Dawn series?
@Cable You don't need to comment on my question
to Leela, 'cause I know you will want to. I know
how you feel about the Dawn series.

The Logan series was a good one too!

Yeah there is a trailer of it on youtube that I found. Hmn..did you know that V.C. Andrews was actually in the Flowers in the Attic movie? They said she was like a maid or something and that if you blinked you'd miss her. I looked forever and I could not for the life of me find her!

Yeah..the Heaven book seems way to good for it to have come from the dude. No offense to him, he still does great books, but they aren't the same.

I just looked and apparently they are trying to make a remake of the Flowers in the Attic movie <3 should be good. They said also on the website that they are making Ruby into a Lifetime mini series.

Cool, I think I will look for the Gemini one then. Thanks March Hare. :)

Oh, I have to look that up on you tube.

She was in the movie? cool, I didn't realize that. A remake is a good idea. As long as they do it right. LOL

Yeah, I have already mentioned my dislike for the Cutler series ;D

Yeah, apparently she was, but I think they just lied so they would get people to watch that crappy movie more than once. >_>

They do need to do it right..it was just all wrong and just ugh. I don't really remember that much, but I remembered I was extremely pissed at it. The movie is hidden wayyy in the back of my movie case thinger.

I was wondering if you still had that cruddy movie.
I can't believe you would bash the Cutler series. D;
It was just as good as the Ruby series.
Not as good as the Heaven series though...I loved
that series so much.Logan. <3 v_V

Yeah I do...maybe when I'm old I will watch it or something D;

No no..Ruby was so way more better than the Cutler series. You just don't know what you are talking about.

Thats why they are making a Ruby series and not a Dawn series.

;]

..Logan? Have you seriously gone to the dark side? Troy was the best male character of all time.

Sorry, I didn't see your question. :D

Honestly, I can't remember! LOL it's been years...I think I liked them all up to where I left off, and that was somewhere in the Melody series...I never finished that entire series.

But none where as good as the first and as far as I can remember, I had a liking to Heaven. I think..LOL Now I want to re-read them all! LOL

Well Troy was my favorite male character.
I meant to say Troy in the first place.
I think my brain is just a little messed
up tonight, or something. (Don't use that
aginst me, when you think about the Rain thing.)
I mean Christopher got all messed up later
on in the series. Logan was good too though.

Rain was so just as good as Ruby.

I don't ever want to watch that movie again.
I am kinda upset you had me watch it.

I have all of mine still..except the sucky ones which I sold, so I can read them whenever.

Yeah..Cary in the Melody series, he was another one of my favorite. I did like the guy in the Sweet Audrina guy, until he cheated on her with her cousin D;
I think I'mma reread that one.

Tch..I didn't make you watch anything. You know you wanted to. Everyone expected it to be good..it just wasn't

I'm going to have to watch the new one now..to see if it is any better, along with the Ruby series. I will record them if I have to.

I can honestly say that I've almost read them all..
I need to read three and a half series before I've read them all, and still the Dollanger series and the Casteel series are the best..
Though I'm pretty sure that it is because it's the only two series which she partly or fully wrote.
I also like the Melody series. There's something about it that I really liked.
I only own the Hudson series, but as soon as I've read it all I'll start buying the rest..

pretty sure I own all of them up to the mini series (and I own a few of those too). I was collecting them until I lost interest. Need to check my book shelf. Anyhoo, this thread has stirred my interest once again, I think I will start re-reading.

I actually started reading Flowers in the Attic when I was about the same age.
XD
I love all of her books, except for the newer ones, because they just arn't the same.
My all time favorite series are Flowers in the Attic and the Dawn series though.
I really should re-read them again.

She is one of my favourite authors ever! For me it is because in her series, the events and actions of one person can affect an entire family for generations. That, for me, is a very interesting concept. I do think that you either have to be older or more mature, for rape and other such concepts are present throughout all of her novels. My favourite series' are The Dollanganger sereis, The Landry series, and the Melody series. I also enjoyed immensely "My Sweet Audrina", which to me represnts a classic modern gothic tale (and I do not mean the trashy vampire novels that have come out recently). Some of her newer one, like the Gemini series, are a little odd, but then she has come out with some interesting plots.

I have read V.C. Andrews, I started reading her books when i was in 7th grade.. my favorite series of her is Flowers in the attic. I am not very fond of her newer books though, I think the old ones are much better.
