For a long time, once I started to write and really got into the process, I always dreamed about becoming a professional writer and becoming famous for my works. I loved doing it and I was developing fairly well with my writing skills. I had this goal to be published by 18 or 19 (that never happened XD) and to develop my art skills so that I might be able to do my own covers (then the book would be all mine--except the publishing part).
But recently I have decided to leave writing for a hobby and if I write something that could have potential success in the market, I would send it in for publishing. So my works are now for myself and personal enjoyment and maybe the world will see it someday. |
I've always wanted to be a writer, even when I was young. However, I have a hard time writing long stories, because I become so wrapped up in imagining it that I have a hard time finding the right words to write down. My English teacher suggested I become a screenwriter, or maybe even a director. I'll always want to be a writer though.

I used to dream of writing, but I gave that up when I realized how poor a writer I was. xD;
|
I have wanted to be a author for a very longtime now. I have gotten a head start on my career by entering poetry contests and not to long ago I won a rather large one. at the moment I am working on several books but I have the Edison Complex so it is really hard for to stay on one for long.

I've always wanted to write a book, but never for the reasons that seem normal. Most people that I know what to write a book for publicity or fame or money or something...but I get creative when it comes down to 'why'. I want to write a book to tell a story, but not really MY story, it's my character's story. See, I like to get imaginative, so when I want to write a book, I tell myself that I'm only writing it to tell the story of those characters, because they came to ME.
Does that make any sense? I write to tell my character's stories because they obviously can't write and tell their own story. So they came to me~! ...of course, if I ever said that, someone'd probably put me in a psych ward or something. Eh. Best keep such things to myself, I guess. |
Haha, yes i have. I've actually wanted to become an author, but i usually get to lazy to continue the stories i write.
It's more a spur of the moment thing, sometimes i'll feel like writing, sometimes i just don't. I really hope someday that i can sit infront of my computer and actually finish writing a story. |
Quote:
Let me give you a hint from someone who actually is writing a novel (almost finished, in fact!). The best books aren't written with money, fame, or all of that in mind, but with good writing, storytelling, and a love of writing at the heart of it. If you have a story to tell, start writing it today. |
The people who wirte for the love of writing usually create the best novels, because they put their heart and sould into it. It's like artists who paint because they love painting and expressing themselves, not the money that comes from painting.
I'm currently working on my own fantasy novel. It's about a girl who gets sucked into another world when a priestess dies, fufilling the first part of a prophecy and setting a whole chain of events into motion. She wakes up in this world, and the odd thing is everyone seems to think she's lived there her whole life, and the copy of her that was existing in this world has gone through three years of elemental training, and is ready to complete a quest with a group in order to graduate the academy. She meets up with other elements, gets into many adventures, and ends up finding out that her and the group of elementals she's with need to save the entire nation from attack not only from neighboring countries, but from within. |
I've always aspired to writing a novel, at least one so that I can say that I've completed *something* in my life. When I was younger I was a terrible student and on my way to failing due to rather pathetic reasons, until I read a certain book. I couldn't understand it very well considering I was practically illiterate and was ashamed of myself, since what I could understand was wonderful the determination to improve was sparked. It took me a year or so but in the end I re-read that book...and in comparison to my level of (reading at least)literacy it's childish in my eyes now.
I want to write a book, any genre, just *something* in the hopes of helping someone that was in the same position I was trapped in. And that was pure cheese heh. |
Yes, I love writing, I'm always working on some sort of writing project that gets ditched over a while...but that counts I guess. I just love to write, sometimes I get sudden ideas and just have to write them onto paper. I haven't ever finished a project though--which sucks. I think I need to keep working on one project instead of starting very many projects and throwing them away one by one. Oh, and I get inspired by my dreams >w<

I keep trying to write short stories, since I don't have the patience or story plot for a longer book, but something always interrupts me...
I'd honestly almost rather own a bookstore though...all those books, just waiting to be read. |
I think about becoming an author but I am not confident enough in my writing style to pursue any projects past a few pages.
I get the idea all worked out but then I loose intrest or think of a better idea. Or become upset with my inability to execute it how I had envisioned. |
Writer
I've always wanted to write a book, there are a few problems though. Writing a book takes too long and I'd have to love a book a lot to stay on the same plotline and story.
Also, if you aren't that successful, there are problems with earning money and that's a big challenge. I'd probably win an award if I did write one. I've read a few and noticed a lot of things in common with those that won and those that recieved honorary things. |
I would love to become an author. Although I won't probably be very successful. Also, I would probably get hurt a lot if I read somewhere of someone disliking my book. I'm a people-pleaser, and I absolutely hate it when someone thinks about me, or something I did. That would create a lot of problems.
If I did become an author, I wouldn't like to be famous. Then, everyone talks about you. And basically, if you have fame, some people will love you, some people will think you're all right, and some people will hate you. So, again, I would be hurt that people would probably hate me. D: But writing books seems fun! I want to try my hand at it later in life, probably when I'm 60+ and retired. |
If I wrote a book it probaly wouldn't be very long but it might you never know but right now I'm too involved with my poem writing maybe if I get enough poems written I can put them together in a book or something, Id like to try but my poems come to ireguler that I dont know when they come or if I'll even have another one comming or not. I'm sure publishers would hate me cause I can't have a time limit my poems come when they want to lol.

I have thought this over, but I am never sure that something I write would be interesting to more than just me. I do think it is an admirable skill to not only be able to write well but hit on a topic or story that people find interesting.
I think that it is an impossible dream for me, but anyone else should keep the dream alive. |

I would love to write a book! But my problem is, I like surprises so i would prefer if someone took a few of my ideas and wrote the book! Because I love reading! Like, I wish i could just go to a store and find ideas for books I've already had, written... Weird huh? Most people prefer the opposite...

Yes, and I'm actually working on something now that I hope turns into something good (although I'm only on the third chapter). Possibly a book, although I've never gotten that far. I hope I can actually write a book and get it published.
|
I'd love to write a book. Unfortunately I don't have the attention span or creativity to do so.
|
I've been thinking of writing a book for a couple years now, I've created characters, but I'm still working on a story line. I doubt if I got it published I'd be very famous, but you never know ^^
|
I've been wanting to write a book for so long now. I've started several times but every time I got bored with the idea and never finished it. Right now I'm in a creative writing class so maybe that'll help me to actually finish something.
|
Definitely!
My friend and I actually wrote one in 9th grade... it was crappy, but the entire process definitely helped me improve my writing skills by a TON and I would recommend doing it to everybody that would like to - the experience is definitely worth it. |
Only a whole, whole lot! It's been my dream to publish a novel since I was six. ^^ I doubt I'd be an award-winning author or a legend (like my favourite author, Stephen King) but I'd still love to do it.
|
I know that I'm getting published soon. My ideas are cool, but very twisted. I hope that I become famous or win awards. What type of stories do you guys write? What genre? What kind (i.e Novel, poem..etc)?
