Ever since I was knee high to a grasshopper, I've alwyas wanted to write a book and get famous and be published, and I do have an original story idea in the works. The only trouble is, I'm worried it might sound too close like plagiarism, hence the reason I'm so worried. I mean, half the plots are rehashes of other plots, right? And yet, authors manage to make them sound unique! But is mine unique enough to stand on its own?

I've thought about it,basing things on some of the strange but true things that have happened to me.I just dunno if I could commit to a whole story. I'm afraid I'd start, get bored or criticize myself early on and chuck it.So I'm really on the fence on this one, maybe maybe not..lol.I started keeping a blog about what I can remember growing up,so if I do write one,I've got a start kind of.
I cant ever see myself in the league of Stephen King or Anne Rice, but maybe a few people would like what I put out. Most likely ladies though lol.

In response to Amane:
Yeaaaaah. Well, at least I can see sections that I know are good. Like, I have a few paragraphs that I'm genuinely proud of, but it's all the connecty bits that need working on. Plus I'm taking way too long to start up my story. My plot progression is too slow.. but that may just be me being overeager to start working on how I'm gonna tackle the actual plot heehee.

But yeah, for other stories, I look over what I thought was "soooooo good" and realize that it's really not that great. In fact, it's usually quite badly written. Though I have to say, my story ideas weren't always too bad. [Though sometimes, even the story ideas were terrible.] It's just that none of them were well thought out. XD

yes, actually, i have
short-lived, but sure was one ^^
i wanted to write books a not-so-normal teenage life
but then i thought, wow, so lazy, how do i ever manage to do anything? XD
i never really thought of being famous, because writing a book is different from establishing a career as a writer. you'd have more luck with fame in the former. besides, every time i try to write, i just keep revising so many times, i may never like it, or finish :'D

The technique I used to keep myself from just tearing everything up was that I wrote everything down in notebooks and just kept going. It made probably for a bit of a mess, but it did mean I actualy got from start to finish. I'd be surprised if all authors didn't struggle with the question 'Am I good enough? Will the next be good enough'? Etcetera. I think it's like any form of creativity, if you stop pushing yourself, you stagnate.

Sometimes I think of writing a book. : ) Most of the time though, I can't write a "short" story without it being a cliffhanger, figures. :l Some people encourage me to write a book, but I'm still planning not to because I can't write just a short story.

I would love to get a book published ... I have witten a novel once during last year in november (for NaNoWriMo) and it was a awesome experience. I am going to do it again this year as well.

I think the reason why I would love to have something published is because just to have it out there and see other people reading it ... I think it would be cool.

@Aikata: To me, almost every book is a cliffhanger. What happened after those events? Was the main character's life a truly happy ending? Yeah, I like to read on and imagine like that forever. XD I guess the author figures that's up to your imagination rather than writing an epilogue.

@a_shy_girl_1999: Ooh, what's NaNoWriMo?

Yes. I would love to write a book.
I write all the time now. All kinds of horror flicks and things.
My friends like my writing a lot. I think that I might have a pretty good chance of becoming well known, but my stories are kind of disturbing. I'm not really sure.

I certainly do!
But I couldn't think I could finish it. I'm the sort who starts with something, and doesn't bother finishing for multiple reasons. This? I haven't gotten the encouragement. I have the idea and everything, I just hope it all falls to place some day.

I've always wanted to be a writer but I have very poor grammar sometimes so it's hard. I've written a good story in high school for english it was good but only a short story.
I also wrote a short story for my bf cause he gets bored a lot so I thought I would give him something to read lol. But it only turned out to be 10 pages long typed. As soon as I go back to school I am going to be taking classes to do something in the writing field and try and write a book on the side.

I've dreamed of writing books for years and years now.
I'm currently working on the second in a trilogy of fantasy books...yeah I know its been done...but the world I've come up with is completely different from other worlds and things that other fantasy writers have written about.
I'm still working on it...slowly.
When I finally get a version that's completed I will try and get it published. I imagine that it could do very well, because instead of using Trolls and orcs like most people do, I've created my own creaturs and monsters for the world.
Its funny because I've had dreams of people offering to make my books into movies and me telling them that no amount of money could get me to do it.
I'm the sort of person who hates when good books are made into movies, it ruins them.

I doubt I'd ever be very famous, it's hard to become so in the world of authors. But it's nice to dream about. :)

It is one of my life ambitions to create and publish a book, game, anything wherin I have created a world for others to enjoy. I don't care if I win awards, I don't care if it becomes amazingly popular or just sits in the literary underground. All I care is that at least one unbiased individual, who doesn't know me, thinks that it is great. That will be all I could ask for, one fan.

I have many promising worlds in my mind: the world of the "Playing God" stories I have written, about a few genetic experiments and oddities across a few generations, the world of "Afterlove", a romance set in hell itself, or even the linked worlds of Amala, Seion and Terravetus, the basis for a set of roleplaying campaigns I have developed.

Even if, in all my life, I publish one book and get a response from one fan alone, it will be enough.

Yes, though it's just a romantic notion.
I don't have the talent, or patience and commitment it takes to write a novel.
My ideas are rubbish too, though when I first think of them they're awesome...award worthy even :sarcasm:

I have so many original characters I've made, I've thought of writing out their stories in book form. I make their stories up in my head anyways, so it wouldn't be that hard! :D

...

Of course, the last time I said that, it took me three months to write one LAME first chapter. >_>;

While I don't think I'd become famous or win awards or anything, but that's because even though I 'write' fantasy, it's my own take on fantasy and I'm not sure that people would like it. Even if they did like my take on fantasy, I don't think that my stories, plots, and characters would be able to hold up to the expectations who read my books.

That said, I AM going to give writing my own book a shot. :3 I'll never get better if I don't take the risk and try. I love my characters too much to not be able to take the risk for them to get attention, to be given the chance to be something more then my own little ideas.
