Ok, let say you have this beautiful, wide room that you can use as your very own private library in your house...I imagine you can decorate the room into your most favorite library.

Thick, think, big, small, picture books, children books, adult books, comics, dictionaries, encyclopedias, anything!

T_T I love thinking about what I would do if I had the money to have my own house with a big room for a library. First of all, it would have big picture windows so plenty of natural light can come in. Also I love watching the weather so yeah. And of course a big squishy chair by the windows. And a fireplace!! Mm... sitting by a fire with some tea and watching snow fall outside or something... @[email protected]

Anyway, what books. I would have a huge special bookcase just for manga and my Japanese fashion mags. (This may seem silly and like something I would eventually outgrown, but seeing as I'm 22 already... I doubt it'll be going away anytime soon). I would need separate sections for fantasy and sci-fi as I already collect a lot of those and love eating my way through them.

I would probably, assuming huge funds, have a separate section in which to collect all the books I read and loved as a child. Just so that I could open them up every so often and reminisce. ^^

And then lastly I would definitely have a section for science books. Textbooks.. journals... some general science-type reading. Just because I'm in the science field and would love such easy access to everything I need.

*sighs* That would be so lovely. Too bad I don't have heaps of money to do something like that...

That kind of library sounds nice. with big windows and a fireplace like that.^^
But for teh room shape, I like the round room with spiral stair case and big ceiling. <3

What will be in that library of yours?
there will be big windows with seats right on the sill with big comfortable pillows and heavy warm blankets. High bookshelves from floor to cieling crammed with books. The'll be a dark wood, and a wrap around kind of couch pointed to a corner with a large brick fireplace with a large mantle with my chess bookends holding books inbetweem. There will be two paintings one each on either side of the window. One will be a scenaic painting and the other will be a duplicate of my favorite painting from the Louvre. The floor will be hardwood with a big rug covering most of it. There will also be one coffee table with several pouffs around it with the lamps. Candles would also be on the cofe table. The room its self would be a square. And two stories the but more of a layered look the chairs and coffee tabel would be on level one and the fireplace on level two... the window would go from through both layers. The scenic pic would be on the second floor and the potrait fromt he Louvre would be on the first. Everything would be dark rich colors of browns and blues and greens, with silver accents. The stair case to the second floor would sweep around the edges of the room close to the bookshelves (also used for getting off high shelves)

What kind of books will you fill it in? I love reading anything and everything so i'd fill it with everythingi could get my hands on. Mostly though it's be fantasy... and art books. All kinds, but probably if i can the classics all leatherbound with gold leafed pages. I'd want to collect many editions of my favorite books so there would be some repeats.

I'm really not a fan of reading books, unless they're popular and interesting ones.. xD I like manga most.. and maybe books on art and stuff like that. n___n

Hm..having my own library doesn't necessarily mean I have the money to afford everything I put in there. xD But if I did, I'd include a few working computers, some tablets for drawing xD, maybe a small table with some chairs for... eating? Haha~ and a bunch of comfy couches or beds for reading. :lol: I like reading on my bed. <3

I would fill that sucker with every occult text I could get my hands one, so long as it's not from llewellyn press, since nothing of worth comes out of there. Especially the classics, Crowley, Fortune, Blavatsky.

My grandmother started off my collection awhile back. Her mother's parents used to have a hotel, and someone left a couple of grimoires in a room once. This is turn of the century stuff, not really serious, I've learned about the history of them and while there are magical undercurrents to them, they aren't anything of huge worth in terms of older occult texts. One of them is essentially a castle running manual from the 1600's (reprinted in like 1900 under the name of Albertus Magnus to make sales) everything from cursing livestock from hexes placed on them, to digging for gold and preventing gremlins from caving you in. It's a great book, for historical value, but not for serious study.

I'd probably have to save a shelf for my comics, cause you can't be serious all the time ;x

HMM. well i would have long shelves that go all the way up to the ceiling so that i could have many books. oh and it would be a round library. cuz it would look awesome.The floor would be wood. with a good soft rug. i would have a computer of course that way i can look up new books. I'd have a sofa and chair so that multiple people can sit in it. I'd also have a small end table for my drinks or snacks. Big beautiful windows.

A lot!!! I would have Horror books especially Stephen king books. I'd have manga of course. i need a library for all the ones i have. im running out of space. Batman comics because he is awesome. and some regular books. lol. Don't really know what else. but it would be alot.

MY library would first have to be very tall and longXD. The books would go up to the ceiling, to were you need one of thoes rolling ladder shelves. it would have swriled staircases to reach certin parts. A fireplace with a rug in front of it and some chairs and couchs.As well as a a table or two and lamps that hung from the celing as well as table lamps. And HUGE GRAND windows that reahced the ceilings. and one of thoes globes of the world [i love thoes things]and of course some art around the room.

Since I'd obviously be rich, I'd get all my books reprinted and bound in leather. xD

What would I have... Everything I can think of, basically. xD I have a wide range of tastes, but I collect faerietales from around the world, so I'd have a big section for those. :3

My library would be big and comfy, lots of sofas and bean bags. :D
Plus I'd hire someone to do big murals on the walls and repaint them every few months.

It'd probably have all the books I currently have and more of the same. Lots of fantasy, some sci-fi, maybe some PHP and design books too.
Also, since I'd be rich, I'd complete all the manga and comic book series I'm currently collecting.

It'd have to have Tamora Pierce, Catherine Webb and heaps of Green Lantern comics. </geek>

I would personal love a red leather chair in the corner. Next to it would be a big lamp. The floors would be wooden with a nice tan carpet on the floor. I would love to have a fireplace and a window seat with a pillow and blanket as well.

Of course I would fill the shelves with romance books. Maybe leave some room for fairytales.

Now I wish I had my own house with a spare room.

If I had a room like that(and I'd LOVE to), it would have several leather chairs and couches to sit on. It would also have wooden floors, and have three book cases filled with nothing but manga. Another three would contain fantasy novels for all ages- so that if I felt like reading a lighter fantasy novel, I could read one aimed for children. If I felt like reading a deep one, I could read an adult fantasy novel. And finally, I'd have one shelf for vampire novels, and one for science fiction. I like sci-fi and all, but I don't regularly read it. In addition to those, I think I'd have one shelf set aside for American graphic novels that I like, such as ElfQuest. And finally, I'd have several shelves that are stocked with books from other genres that I may want to read eventually, which even includes some of my favorite picture books from childhood. ^^;. Just to have them in case I ever wanted to take a trip down memory lane and read them.

I would have to have a very soft window seat. I'm kind of random about the books I like, but I would mostly have books that have a unique and captivating story line.

It would be hand-carved mahogney wood bookshelves tall enough to have one of those moving ladders that you sometimes see, i would have one wall plain cream with colorful paintings and a fireplace too with mythical animals carved into it's frame. There would be a thick persian rug and a deep comfy chair ro curl up in while reading with a table next to it to place books on. To top it all off sweet twin chandiliers to light up the room (electrically) and read by.
The books will be all my favourite genres manga, fantasy, sci-fi, horror and mythology from around the world. Each with their own shelves.

I only have a bookcase to myself at the minute, but a private library wouldn't go amiss! Hm, I would like a library like the ones in classic houses. I would love a set of those ladders on wheels that go round the shelves to reach all the books too. There would have to be a nice comfy seat, with a little lamp on table next to it for atmosphere too =P

I think for the actual I would have a section devoted to the some of the books that I liked when I was younger. I'd probably have authors like Roald Dahl and silly things like the Horrible History books.

I would definitely transfer all of the books I have right now, but I'd actually be able to put them in some sort of order if I had enough room for them.

I think I would spend more time looking for what I thought was the best looking cover for the books as well. I think Penguin Classics are amazing, so I would try to get as many of those as I could. Not like the cover is the most important thing.

I would also always make sure that I would have some space for new books. I don't think even with a library I would just stick to the books I have!

Hmm... right now my bedroom is my library, but I'm running out of space. I would definitely have manga. I own over a thousand manga, so those take up the majority of the space right now. I would also have fantasy/sci-fi books and of course my favorites. I love the Outlander series, so that would be a must, and the Inheritance Trilogy. The Giver and The True Confessions of Charlotte Doyle are favorites of mine from elementary school. Then I'd have to have all my childhood picture books, of course. And lastly, I'd have the space to collect old books. I love old books, the smell, the feel, and I love thinking about how many hands have held them and loved them and the history behind them.

I'm currently in the process of making my own library. I have a three bedroom house, but there is a FROG above the garage (as is implied in the abbreviation) I have two book shelves in there, but I was going to add more. The roof slopes at an angle, so I was planning on making a pyramid shape with the shelves to make it a little more interesting. now, I just need more books...and some wood for shelving.

I already have my own library. It not a room but some shelfs in my bed room the hold thousands of books. I read a lot.

Currently what I have is limited to 1 bookcase full with comic books and half of another bookcase filled with other type of literature books, and there are some books scattered on the floors and tables, so it's kind of a mini library in my my bedroom. xD But I still dreaming of owning a real library room someday.

i would adore having a house that I could actually have one room for my books. I'd want a fireplace with comfy couches by it. I'd want to walls to be full of book shelves with all my crazy collection of books filling them. I always thought those shelves were cool that had the ladders attached to them that slide from one shelf to another.
