Does anyone here read light novels?
If so, do you have a favorite series?

Here's a list of light novels: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_light_novels

As for me, my most favorite light novel series is Trinity Blood. <3 They're a lot better than the manga version and anime version of the series, and the artwork by Thores Shibamoto is awesomesauce. <3

But I also picked up a new series called "Ballad of a Shinigami" and it's pretty good so far. <3

Ooh, yes! :'D

I have the .hack ones, but I've yet to read them. They're rather.. badly translated. (Possibly badly written. Not sure.)
zomg, there's one for Arashi no Yoru ni?! AWESOME.
I have the Kino's Journey one as well.. but I haven't read that either..

Other ones I haven't read but own: Boogiepop something, something with a blue-haired girl on the cover, and another one I forgot (wow, awesome job, Laila)

One I have read: MAID MACHINEGUN. YEAH. It rocks!

I too have read one of the .hack// seires (the one about Blackrose, which I thought was intresting... even if I didn't read the last volume, cuz I gave the rest away.)

I actually saw Maid Machinegun in B&N the other day. Is it any good?

The one about BlackRose is Another Birth. I'm a hardcore Twilight Saga fan, so I know a lot about early .hack stuff, but I can't get into the light novels because they're just.. really bad..

Yeah, Maid Machinegun is great. It gets a little over-cliche at times, and I disagree with some of the ideas it proposes (like that Kamen no Maid Guy isn't the epitome of moe!) but it's still very good overall.

Ahhh okie. I'm glad I didn't read the other .hack// novel series then, cuz I seriously was going to, but from the way you're putting it, they sound awful. D:

Perhaps when I get my bday money, I'll check out Maid Machinegun. <3

I'm a bit picky with writing styles, so.. check them out for yourself first, but personally they ticked me off. D:

Ahh I gotcha now. I know how that is, when the writing style is hard for one to understand.

Like I couldn't get into Kouga Ninja Scrolls (I think that's what it's called, the nvel from which Basalisk is based of), but I really like Trinity Blood cuz I can understand it. <3

The one thing I don't get is I saw the FLCL novel the other day, but it was $10.00 and had less pages than TB, which is only $8.00

Hurm. Trinity Blood.. I might have to get that. XD

I'm definitely gonna need to look over that list and see what's out that I'd be interested in. I haven't really been keeping track too well.

Why yes, you should get the Trinity Blood novels, so I'll tell ya about em.

There are two series to the TB novels, "Rage Against the Moons" (the first series) and "Reborn on the Mars" (the second series). There are six volumes to each series (12 all together)

But the way that Tokyopop is releasing em is they're alternating between series like they released vol 1 of RATM then vol 1 of ROTM, which I think is dumb, cuz ROTM is the sequel to RATM. ><

So far I have vols 1-3 of RATM and vols 1-2 of ROTM (which is what Tokyopop released thus far).

I'm way behind in Trinity Blood in general, though. (Arrrrgh why do I keep typing Tokyo Babylon?!) I've read like.. two volumes of the manga. And I CANNOT watch the anime because I break out in laughter at the terrible production quality every three minutes. >3>;;

Well, Tokyo Babylon and Trinity Blood both have the same letters, so that's prolly why you keep typing the first series instead of the latter. XD Anyway.

I don't mind the manga form, although I do hate they way they portrayed Leon, for he looks totally different than in the novels and anime.

But besides, the novels are the best, for they are the original story. And I think they translated it pretty well, so that makes me happy. <3

<3 original novels are waaay better than light novels as adaptations from a pre-existing series (..like the .hack ones are!) The only thing I remember about Trinity Blood specifically is I love Dietrich..

Nah, not much of a Dietrich fan, but I DO like Issak-san. Now HE'S full of awesomesauce.

Specially in the first volume
(SPOILER)When he was able to take down Tres and have him lose both his arms. It was great. <3(END SPOILER)

First of all yeah I heard the light novels were good because they were as close as you can get to the original dead author's vision on the story as you can get before his deathness prevented him from writing more.

Second of all lately I've been enjoying Welcome to the N.H.K. and the .hack light novels. Pretty good they be. :)

I haven't really read many light novels, because I just don't see them any where. But, recently, I did check the Strawberry Panic light novel out of a library. I thought it was pretty good. ^^

I recently finished reading the first light novel of The Twelve Kingdoms. It was an interesting story. Shame my library doesn't have the rest of the story.

I really like Boogiepop at dawn. The anime was kinda hard to follow than again I did watch it at like 4am half asleep all the time lol. But the book is really good and though I think they are kinda childish the stories are fun. I've just started Ballad of the shinigami; so I'll let you know how it goes.
