I don't watch anime anymore but back in the time that I did the shortest I knew of was called <forgot the first part> hide and seek. It played on adult swim for Halloween. It was one episode long. But it was a WHILE back. Before I was in high school. (I'm in collage now so...xD)

FLCL Its only six episodes of wacky hyperactive fun!

um, i watched the leastest anime ep was Kanon (26 ep)

When I saw the thread title, FLCL was the first thing to pop into mind. Otherwise, Trigun was pretty short, I think. And sad.

I'd put over a bajillion OVAs down, but those don't count, right?

No! No, the 4 episode OVA for Pet Shop of Horrors was my shortest! And it is AWESOME.

I guess the three episode OVA for Read or Die counts... But that was made to look like a movie so I don't really think it does.

Bus Gamer. It was three episodes long and taken from a manga that was a single volume long. I watched it in Japanese, 'cause I'm that much of a Kazuya Minekura nut and I couldn't wait for it in English.

Most of the animes I tend to watch seem to end at 26 episodes. How strange...

Dogs Bullets and Carnage.
Had nothing to do with the manga and was only 2 eps long.
I hope they actually do something else with it.

Lots of OVAs will be very short (less than 13 eps), but sometimes those don't make as much sense if you haven't seen the associated series.

The stand-alone series that come to my mind are: Dragon Half (2 eps), Petshop of Horrors (4 eps), IRIA (6 eps), FLCL (6 eps).. um.. That may be it actually. Golden Boy is 6 eps but is also pretty.. inappropriate so I wouldnt suggest it for casual viewing.

The shortest anime I've ever seen were Gestalt(2 episodes), Dragon Half(2 episodes), Video Girl Ai(6 episodes), Please Save My Earth(also 6 episodes), Pet Shop of Horrors(4 episodes), and Gunsmith Cats(3 episodes)

Ouran high school host club has 26 episodes and Vampire Knight is pretty short to i think

I watched Golden Boy years ago...I think that was also 6 episodes long. It's a bit perverted, but absolutely hilarious...and I love how the main character is such an idiot despite being so intelligent.

It was a good series.

FLCL is probably the shortest anime that ever reigned, lol.

But Wolf's Rain didn't last too long either in my opinion. :/

the season 2 of La corda D'oro it has only 2 episode to be unbelievable =3
