Ginga: Nagareboshi Gin is an aime/manga about a young pup named Gin who is born in Japan while the vicious bear Akakabuto is causing both humans and animals to live in fear. Gin's father combats Akakabuto and is presumed lost and Gin is raised by his father's master to be a bear-hunting dog. It's only until episode 7 in the anime that Gin leaves the safety of the human world and joins with a pack of feral dogs who are at war with Akakabuto and his kind, and this is where the adventure for little Gin really begins.
It has a sequel Ginga Legend Weed, focusing on Gin's son.

That is an amazing show! I started on the one about Gins son though.
