So, my friends and I are trying to think of a good group cosplay for the nest con. We're leaning towards Fate Stay, but I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions.
We're completely against doing Death Note or Naruto.

That all depends on what your into. No one else can really decide for you.
think about how many people you have, and then think about how many main characters a series would have. Like my friends and I did Haruhi Suzumiya one year. And we had every single main character X3. That was really nice. Also, try and keep males to males, and females to females. I mean crossplaying is fine, but if you want to do "professional looking" cosplays, try and stick to original genders <3
Just a tip <3

I'd really like to see a complete group cosplay from the video game Persona 3. I see characetrs here and there... but not a full group!

chii: Hah I did a Chidori cosplay, but I agree that a complete P3 group would be amazing!
For Zak, it really does depend on how many people you have, your sewing ability and what you're all interested in. My best advice for cosplay is to pick someone that you like and who has a costume you're interested in/comfortable wearing.

=3 Just make sure the cosplays aren't too hot in hot weather and too cold in cold weather. O_O; Though cons do get really hot indoors sometimes... I've overheated and got sick at a con due to a really hot cosplay. And drink tons of water!! Even in the fall and winter, you need to be hydrated.
I agree it depends on sewing ability, but sometimes you have to buy costumes/props online... so make sure nobody goes bankrupt from a cosplay!! :o Sometimes I wonder if my cosplay will make me starve... (But I end up managing...)

I'm into costume design, so sewing isn't a problem. P3 would be epic!
We've cosplayed lots of times, that's why we're having such problems.=p

What do you and your friends think of Bleach? or Kingdom Hearts? The Espada and Organization XIII would be great for a group to do :D

The only problem I see... is there are so many Bleach and Kingdom Hearts cosplayers already. @ [email protected] Of course I'm not saying nobody should do it... There needs to be cosplayers of them somewhere... or else it would get weird. =3 A con without KH or Bleach cosplay... is something I don't think will come for a while.

It depends on how many you are on the group. The group I'm in conssists of almost 20 people, so we decided to cosplay the characters from Axis Powers Hetalai which has almost 40 characters. XD

You could try Soul Eater. It has a lot of really cool character designs and most of the difficulties range from easy to medium.

Try Kuroshitsuji. I know its popular now ( I saw a bunch of cosplayers at the last con I went to early in September) But trust me the cast is pretty big and if like I think I read earlier you're into costume design the outfits are really nice. And some are quite complicated given its victorian era dress.
Theres lots of room to play around with to to.

I'd suggest you ask for themes of what sort of skit/image you'd like to present.
Say you're open to fighting scenes, pick shounen titles.
It's especially helpful if your team are mostly dancers and/or martial arts practitioners.
Dance/song a.ka. the musical sort of skit also works but only to an extent. If you can manage to find a REALLY fitting song then you're in luck. If not, there's always having to go for a spoof. ;3 It works. Believe me.
Other than what sort of skit, consider the skill level of your team.
Consider if they can make the armor and the clothes on time, along with the wig styling~
If it's all just show/talk and they can't really do it (I've seen this all too many times) then ditch the idea of hard work and try to KISS (Keep it short and simple) your way through it. XD
I dare not go by 'go by what's popular or what is going to be well known' since contests of this sort usually have you register so the judges should know who you're going as through prior research usually. So there's no excuses for going that the judge didn't know anything though it can be quite an issue. I know. It's become an issue here. >_> At least once.
You should all sit down and consider similar interests and shows/games/books for possible choices. XD
Or if someone can think of some really OSM skit/image/presentation specifically for a certain show/game/book then all the more good!
Popular choices these days seem to be shounen titles (long list is long really. O_o) that lean toward skits with fighting, parody and even satire. Musicals are also very popular.
Such shounen titles tend to be new and recent. Though if you are able to also manage an old franchise and do it effectively, you could garner a good rep thanks to nostalgia value. xD
NEVER DO THE I SHALL INTRODUCE MYSELF SKITS.
._. It kinda gets old in the long run~
