I just don't think that Keanu Reeves can pull off Spike Spiegel Or that they will do any justice tot he story. I really hope that they will focus on the Spike-Vicious-Julia love triangle with Faye being a complication to this and Jet being a strong part of the story, of course brought along with a creative view of what the world will be like in our future and an amazing soundtrack with the same jazz and country western funk mix. As far as I am concerned Ed and Ein can be left out of the script, there is no need to include them in the story. I hope it is a creative assembly of the existing characters and ideas, but not a bad 2 hour long live action version of one of the original episodes.

I never heard of something like this about Cowboy Bebop.

Odds are, I'm not going to watch it.
I didn't like any of the live action movies before, why would I watch another one?

Keanu Reeves will Kill Spike....KILL HIM!!!

I'll probably watch it, but... NOOO! NOT KEANU! WHYYYYY?!?!?! He can't act! He plays one type of character well and that is either a robot or an alien. WHYFOR?!?! ;.;.;.;

I know that there was an Evangelion movie in the makings (Weta Workshop was going to be doing the special effects) but last I heard they closed the project down because they couldn't find a writer or director who wanted to do it. So it's kind of cool that they're still trying to get it made! Hopefully Weta will do the special effects still. They had some amazing concept art for it. *__*

Well I don't like that they picked Keanu Reeves. But I'll check it out.

Did they really say they are making one? Because that worries me. I love Cowboy Bebop and how classic it is. I don't want US to remake it or anything. They should just leave the Japanese creation to themselves. They should make like Benten or another Cartoon Network show for themselves. I mean, that's their creation they should use them instead of Japanese. Though I don't know about their technological background but I have seen a lot of Japanese movies of other Anime and they seem to be good to me. I guess I will just have to wait and see how the US makes things awesome for Cowboy Bebop. It's just usually I would have thought nobody would have touched the classic.

I have a feeling that this and the dragon ball Z live action will not be worth seeing. I mean, don't get me wrong, not all live action is bad. But cowboy bebop and dbz.. They totally messed up on the actor selection I think. I have yet to see a non-japanese live action that I actually like. In fact I think if non-japanese/korean/taiwanese does it, then they should at least try to stick with the story line and character descriptions.

I believe Keanu Reeves can pull off spike. He is a fan himself and that is the big difference. they said with character design they were goin to stick with the original, so that's a major plus. I am really looking forward to it (then again i am a "glass half full" type of person.

I really want to see what they do about his hair... it's green. And fluffy. That wouldd be really interesting to see.

And on another note, I want to see how well Mr. Reeves immitates Spike's fighting style, all leg motion with hands in his pockets... Most of the time... From what I can rememeber anyway... The last time I saw anything Bebop related I bought the Movie and that was like .... Two years ago...

Keanu Reeves is a fan? That gives me a little burst of hope in this thing. I hope that means that he'll try to be as faithful to the real Spike as he possibly can.

Otherwise, I'm not going to make any judgements on this until we start seeing some visuals.

On the topic of other planned movies, I also heard about a live action Ghost in the Shell.

I really wish that Hollywood would just stop adapting animes/games to live action. I mean when I see one I go in trying to give it a fair review, but it always falls short of my expectations. I mean, yeah if this movie comes out I'll see it, I'll just be really disappointed if it comes out and has quality akin to Dragonball Evolution. But I'll be optimistic and hope that if Keanu Reeves is a fan he'll give the movie the justice it deserves.

wow....okay......they seriously need to rethink the live action movie thing in general. From the trailer of evangelion, I can already see that the graphics don't go well with the real people in the movie and the story looks like it's just ripping off the plot of evangelion >.> and....yea, I don't like it. Well, the live action movie is focused on the episodes right before Ed and Ein leave. (The exact episodes escape me at the moment.)
So, it's incredibly likely that Ed and Ein will make an appearance.
I was surprised that Reeves was cast for the role of Spike.
I mean, the only emotions that guy expresses is stoic and extremely stoic.
However, Reeves has expressed that he absolutely loves the Cowboy Bebop series, so maybe that'll will give him much more inclination to do an excellent job.

I should hope that Ghost in the Shell would be hard for them to screw up. I've not seen the animated movie, but I have seen a bit of the series. It seems to have what a lot of American action movies have, gun fights, a sexy heroine, a politics. If they do change anything with it, I hope they just dumb down the politics a little bit. Sometimes I had a bit of trouble keeping up. ^.^;

The only movies I remember Reeves showing emotion in were before The Matrix. It seems like he's been stuck in a rut since then.

If it comes out I will go see it just to see how badly they mess it up. is praying they do not mess around with the jazz music too much.

Anyway, I've heard that Mr. Reeves is a Cowboy Bebop fan and is really excited about doing this movie. (Though I've been trying to picture just what exactly an excited Keanu Reeves looks like...)

Who knows? At any rate, it looks like Hollywood has switched from turning videogames and american comics into movies to the Japanese manga/anime. (They've really gotta get some people with creativity in there. Their traditional whoring of ideas for cash has become so obvious lately that I'm surprised no one has officially made some sort of comment/review on it) This movie could either be really good (they're making some sort of effort. even though Keanu Reeves isn't a very... let's say "diverse" actor, he's very well known) or it could be another Dragonball: Evolution.

That being said, it might not even launch so don't get too worked up until you start seeing previews. They're also planning on making an American version of Death Note (if that translates into "takes place in america with white people and no mention of japan" or if it tries to stay true to the story with better CGI, storyline, and soundtrack {wtf was with "Californication?" Seriously?} is up to speculation) and several other anime/manga series. Here's to hoping Hollywood has learned a little from the flop Dragonball was. Just maybe they'll step up their game....

I don't feel much worry for Cowboy Bebop because I haven't read it yet(but I'll go search for it now). I do feel extreme anger at action movies made about asian cartoons in general. I think I'll go create a thread to rant now.
