so this series is brand-spankin-new and chock full of dark-hunter goodness... although written for a younger audience then her dark-hunter novels, I think kenyon delivers with this series...

so, has anyone else read it?
if so what do you think of it?

anyone out there think she should stick with novels?
or maybe drop novels all together?

basically just say something about it :)

i've read one of the first book of her series, the Fantasy Lover. well, it was okay, it doesn't suck, i prefer to read it over some books but i think it's nothing spectacular either

have you heard of the manga? i think there are only 2 volumes out as of now

Well, you've given me a reason to try it out now. >.> I knew that she had manga out, and I absolutely adore her Dark-Hunter series, but I've never tried the manga.

the first two books are kyrian and amanda... and the next two are talon (and i can only guess sunshine as she is his wife)...

but i can not tell a lie when it comes to manga so i have to mention that the art is clearly americanized and seems more comic-booky then manga, although it is read in the traditional manga way (right to left)...

i haven't read many of the dark-hunter books so i can't say the characters are how i pictured them or anything like that, but talon makes an appearence in the first one and i could tell it was him right away so the picture i had of him in my mind and what the artist did was pretty much spot on to me...

i don't have volume two as it comes out early 2010, but it seems worth the wait!

I haven't gotten ahold of any of the manga's but I have seen a lot of the pages on her myspace page. To be honest I'd be happy if she just released more books. Not that I don't mind manga, it gives me a better idea of what her character look like.

i am currently reading the book that the manga is taken from, 'night pleasures', and so far it is pretty much identical to the book... i found it kind of annoying that i kept seeing the manga people while reading and i kind of like making the people up on my own... but the only thing i see different is that amanda's hair is black and her eyes are dark in the manga, whereas in the book she has brown hair with auburn highlights and blue eyes... oh well... i still dig it all!

The Original novels were much better. I don't think the first manga gave the full volume of Kyrian's story.

@tokai: volumes 1 and 2 tell kyrian's story... volume 2 was supposed to come out march 2nd of this year... the next 2 volumes are talon's story and they come out september of this year and march of 2011

I was gonna say No I have not heard of it then I read on and you said "Sunshine" is his wife? Is it a vampire series? If so my friend is reading it and she says I should read it. However I am wary about getting into another book right now.. I am behind in my reading list as is and when I find a good book nothing gets done till I finish reading it...

it's not really a vampire series... but there is some blood trading in a vampire kind of way... but dark-hunters are technically not vampires... and there is a lot of greek/roman mythology and the gods and goddess and some celtic and norse references too... it is a great series... but the manga is little more tame... not quite as 'sexy' as the novels haha

If I buy any manga it will most likely be "Bring It On" "Dragon Knights" or "Chocolate" before I start a new series. But I will look into it when I get done with those..

Oh the series my friend was telling me about is the "Anita Blake" series.... So it isn't the same one. :( However I will still look into it..

oh yea i have heard that the anita blake books are somewhat similar ... i haven't read any of them myself though

I've read all her Dark-Hunter novels so far~ I just love her work! I have to admit I was kind of sad when I found out the manga is just going to be a retell of her 2nd book on. v_v I was hoping for another story in it all. (Maybe of Simi, haha.) I did enjoy it though~ I'm going to buy the 2nd one as soon as I can.

@butterflydemise: i am making my way through the novels... and they are really great! i was also a little disappointed that the manga is basically a retelling of the books already out, but after reading the first one and then reading the novel that went with it, i don't feel so bad about it... i like that it is made for younger audiences... i think it's great that a wider audience will get to read about the characters that i have grown to love so much... and i think simi is pretty fantastic too... but i love her akri more!!! :heart:

Have you hreard of Dee Henderson? She has a very interesting series about a Demi Fay princess who is a detective. It is very good. But it is rated R lots of raunchy stuff... And gore... but beautiful and interesting..

@Linnea: I guess so. It's kind of funny that they just blew over the whole 'sex scene', but you know what happened if you read the real book or not, haha. I guess it's also nice to see what the characters look like. (Though there's always the pictures on the main Dark-Hunter website.)

i don't like some of those pictures on the website... i think it mostly comes down to acheron... i got a really different look for him in my head... and most definitely not a blondie, since he hates it... and i kind of expected the sex scenes to be edited significantly, since it is more of a teenage reader... but i guess as long as we have the books, we can always reread hahaha

Ditto, and I guess so, haha. But I'd rather read a new romance novel and read a new 'scene' than hunting through books I've already read for a scene that would be awkward to read twice. (If that makes any sense D: )
