A lot of anime fans hate the English dubs, so I was wondering what you all thought the worst dubs you ever saw were.

I think the worst one is probably Knight Hunters: Eternity. I love the anime to pieces, but over half of the voices sound like a bunch of idiots. Nozomi and Sena are probably the two most annoying voices I've ever heard next to Tabby from .hack//ROOTS.

The other dub I REALLY hated was for Elemental Gelade. I've been reading the manga for years now and I was so excited to see the anime. Then I bought the first volume and was so disgusted. EVERY voice sounded completely wrong for the characters. Ren's wasn't cute enough for her and Kuea sounded like a man. I watched the Japanese sub and it seemed to have the voices a lot more accurate for the characters....

The dub for Descendents of Darkness was incredibly bad. I couldn't stand watching more than a few episodes. Their voices just weren't what I would have pictured.

Angel Sanctuary was also pretty bad and I even watched that before I had ever read the manga and expected any specific voices. They were just bad.

I didn't really think the dub for descendants of darkness was that horrible...but it wasn't great either ><

I haven't watched angel sanctuary yet, but I will someday...

The worst to me would have to be Tokyo Mew Mew Power, as a kid I used to love the series ( watched the japanese version online. ) after finishing the japanese version I tried the english dub and I hated it, they changed the names had horrible voice actors and did I mention they CHANGED THE NAMES! Most 4Kids dubs suck but I think Mew mew powers top it off. XD

Well....there are too many dubs that I hate, but I think one that really made me laugh was the dubbing for Advent Children. Dear God, I laughed so hard because of the way the Kadaj brothers sounded. It reminded me why I never watch anything of that nature in english. The dubbing for Slayers was also pretty abominable. c.c

Dragon Ball, from everything I've seen. I also hated how they cut and changed up everything. -_- I HATE dubs, I rarely watch them anymore.

I'm not sure what the worst one is, but if I had to pick it'd probably be Fushigi Yuugi

I say any dub by 4Kids can be the worst. But there was one dub that was so bad, I sent the movie back. That anime movie was the Sonic The Hedgehog Anime. That dub was so awful! I mean dang, it made me wanna throw things. >_<;

4Kids can't dub at all, they should be strip of all dubbing rights and stick to "American" cartoons.

Oh yeah and Disney shouldn't dub anime either. They should stick to the Kiki Delivery Service kind of animes. Other then that, Disney should be stripped of dubbing rights and stick to "American" too. :P

Remember kids, 4Kids, Disney, and Sonic The Hedgehog the Anime (the 1990s one) are things to avoid dubbing wise. ^_^;

I would have to say Gravitation and Naruto had the worst dubs I have ever encountered.
Maybe Naruto's voice doesn't bother most people but it makes my ears bleed... And poor Eiri on Gravi was ruined voice wise.

The English dubbed version of Naruto is waaaay overreacting! seriously..the voices didn't connect well to the characters and it just sounded gay.

oh and, Bible Black (okay, i know it's for adults..but i swear i only watched a few seconds of an episode of it in my classmate's mobile! i almost threw his mobile when they started doing it! seriously!) their voices sounded really annoying the dudes' voices were so gay and the girls' voices were really stupid..

In my opinion the worst dubs would have to be Tokyo Mew Mew, or Mew mew Power -.-; and Fruits Basket. I like Kyo but..the voice was WAAAY too annoying for me.

Hana Yori Dango (Boys Over Flowers) is hor-ri-ble, it diminishes my gray matter. Personally I don't like any of the dubs once I'v heard the subs. if i started listening to the dubs first it doesn't bother me @ all but once i hear the original voices in the subs, it's hard to listen to.

The first one that comes to mind is Gravitation it was just awful. Yuki's voice was way too monotone, no feeling at all whatsoever it was very disappointing. Especially since you rarely see shounen ai animes dubbed. I had to quit watching the dub after episode four pretty much everyone's voice sucked saved Hiro's which was tolerable enough.

D gray man was another horrible dub. Seriously Funanimation has been picking,the wrong voice actor's to play characters. I was highly disappointed with their choice for Kanda, who sounded like he had puberty shoved up his butt. It was just awful defiantly not their best.

Other bad dubs

Ouran Host Club - Wasn't awful but couldn't get use to most of their voices, especially Kyouya's.

Descendants of Darkness - Was tolerable but hated Muraki's eng dub voice, it sounded as if the va was holding his noise while talking.

XXX holic - Yuuko is not Brittish!

Shuffle - Poorly picked voice actors.

DNAngel...oh god. That was just...pathetic. Daisuke was monotonous throughout the whole damn series and the only person I looked forward to hearing was Vic Mignogna's interpretation of Dark. I couldn't take more than 5 episodes before I finally said "F it."

Ouran is another one. Haruhi irritates me beyond belief. She was just too monotone. And, although I have just given Vic props for his voicing of Dark, his voicing for Tamaki was god awful. His voice is too soft and tender for such a frivolous character like Tamaki, which thus killed the character for me. Another that upset me in the series is the voices of Hikaru and Kaoru. They have deeper mischievous voices in the Japanese anime, and in the American version they just sound wrong. Too young sounding like they're 13 or 14 when they're 16/17 (around that margin).

Sailor. Moon. I used to watch the anime all the time when I was a kid. When I was a teenager I started to collect the billingual DVDs. Now I mock the (2nd season onward) "Serena's" voice all the time, it's so ridiculous. I much prefer the sub, I end up hating the grating voice actors in the English dub. XP

It has to be Negima, have you heard it? Negima's accent is one of THE WORST English accents I've ever heard, and on top of that, he's meant to be Welsh, not English anyway. (not that I'm a fan of the series, but it's like when they dubbed Howl's Moving Castle and Howl had an American accent, I feel sorry for the Welsh anime fans!)

I actually wish they were all dubbed British, in fact, I wish we had a big dubbing company over here who could do seperate dubs to the American ones, because I mostly really hate hearing the American voices. :XD It makes me uncomfortable!
That's actually the main reason I prefer to watch them subbed.

Anything dubbed by 4kids or Funimation, they seem to hire the cheapest voice actors possible! Case and point, One Piece, yes we get it Sanji is a tough guy, but the Brooklyn New York accent kinda kills his character.

I haven't seen an anime dub I haven't liked the dub version of....I think no matter what, in english or japanese, your gonna hear a voice that you won't like XP

Urgh, definately the worst dub I've ever seen was Knights of the Zodiac.

First off, the name of the anime is Saint Seiya, but the dubbers decided that they'd go with the subtitle that was added when it was brought to Europe: Knights of the Zodiac.

Well, after they'd changed the name of the show, they changed the name of some characters but not others. Seiya got to keep his original name, but the female lead went from Saori to Princess Sienna. No explination for why the head of an international conglomerate has the title of Princess, but whatever. What really drove me up the wall is the fact that they picked and chose who's names they changed. At least in Sailor Moon pretty much everyone got a new name.

After the names, the dubbers for the TV release decided that the story needed to be less violent. Saint Seiya is incredibly violent, has lots of blood and death, and a good bit of profanity. But Knights of the Zodiac has lots of fights, but all the blood became "Cosmo" (aka Gatorade blood) and no one dies. If you lose, you simply go back to Sanctuary to await the return of Athena, and you're never seen again.

Thank God ADV got the rights to distribute the anime on DVD, and their dub is actually pretty good. Everyone's voice fits their character (even though Seiya has this faint accent that shows up off and on) and the blood is actually BLOOD.

I have to say tokyo mew mew only cuz almost anything that came off of 4kids was crap so that should narrow down about how many i think are stupid

Rurouni Kenshin was pretty badly dubbed in my opinion. I haven't watched anime dubbed in years. Ever since I got introduced to subbed anime, I haven't looked back. Hmmmmm. Anything dubbed by 4Kids is pretty bad too...

i have noticed that most 4kids anime is bad then they ruin any good anime that might have been but oh well

In my experience, 4kids does the same thing that DiC did and tries to make the anime more "kid friendly" by American standards. All they really do is end up ruining perfectly good anime.

I forgot one. Saiyuki Reload.:headdesk: Oh it was horrible. Granted they pronounced Hakuryuu's name properly in Reload, but the voices were just really, really bad.
