I've noticed no threads pertaining specifically to shoujo so far in the Books > Manga/Anime threads. I think having one is really valuable to we, the fans who are always looking for new material to watch/read!

So! Post some of your favorite manga/anime here!

Series, (Original) Summary, and maybe some other series that you've read like it to give others ideas?

=3

- please treat everyone that posts after you with respect, don't flame other series (they are as precious to the poster as your favorite series are to you.),
----------

I'll start!

-Tokyo Crazy Paradise, A manga (to my knowledge no anime adaptation has been made) twenty years in the future in which Tokyo has become corrupt and everyone only looks out for themselves. In this world the police and the yakuza are constantly at war. In this adverse environment, the yakuza boss Ryuji and the police-child Tsukasa meet, and begin to grow closer.

- I would say that this series is similar to love celeb and kaikan phrase, in the form of the relationship between the two main characters the plot of the manga in now way is similar.

Skip Beat,
Quote:
Skip-Beat! follows the story of Kyoko Mogami, a sixteen year-old girl who loves her childhood friend, Sho Fuwa (Shotaro), but is betrayed by him. Having spent a large part of her childhood at Shotaro's parents' inn, she learned a great deal about hostelry and other such jobs. Shotaro, not wishing to take over his parents' business, moves to Tokyo to pursue a career in music. Sho, as he is called by his fans, asks Kyoko to leave high school and her life in Kyoto Prefecture behind to help him. Upon arrival in Tokyo, Kyoko lives an unreasonably frugal life, spending nothing on herself and doing whatever she can for Sho, who eventually becomes ranked seventh of the top twenty most popular entertainers of Japan. One day, she overhears Shotaro complaining about her to his manager, saying that she is a boring and plain girl. He proceeds to sweet-talk and flirt with his manager, in stark contrast to the cold and demanding attitude he usually exhibits towards Kyoko. Kyoko doesn't shed many tears when she learns that Sho thinks she's only good for housekeeping. Instead, her "Pandora's box" opens and she vows vengeance on Sho. As she is carried away by security, Sho mockingly tells her that if she wants revenge, she had better become a bigger star than him. And so, Kyoko changes her appearance and enters the entertainment industry, facing many challenges along the way. Skip Beat! follows Kyoko's journey to climb the showbiz ladder as she meets interesting people, troublemakers and friends alike, with hopes of getting revenge on Shotaro, as well as regaining the sense of compassion that she had lost when her heart was broken by him. As Kyoko cultivates her acting and friendships, she soon discovers a sense of self separate from her initial plans for revenge.
Umm... i guess i would say Honey Hunt is similar, do to the revenge by the main female character striving to become more famous then who betrayed her.

i liked beauty pop. i haven't read it in a long time, so i don't remember it too well. i do remember it was about this girl who was a very good hair stylist, but didn't really care about having such a good talent. aparently, when she was young, she badly cut her mom's ear, which made her slightly afraid to keep cutting hair. anyway, there was also this boy that was determined to be the best hair stylist in japan, but hated that the girl was better than him, so he was always trying to prove he was better.
it was a really cute manga. now this is making me want to read it again. =^_^=

I've read and enjoy both of those!

I also just read the manga "Love Celeb" which is a little mature but also a fairly enjoyable read.

Right now, I've been crazily reading Dengeki Daisy. It's pretty darn funny, and I find myself copying Teru a lot in my daily life now. 0w0
