Panty and Stocking with Garterbelt
What do you guys think of PSG?
Season one ended December 24th, and there was an implication of a season 2. Most of the show is pretty much just filler, and if you want to know the "story" or "plot" behind the whole first season you really only need to watch episode 6, 12 and 13. The beginning of episode 12 is a recap of all the episodes so far if you don't want to watch everything~ First episode for anyone who's interested. :'D Warning~ there's a lot of cussing and it can be offensive or make you go "OMG." and it's pretty much a parody of everything. My friend introduced it to me when it first came out[beginning of October] and I think it's hilariously awful and awesome. |
I love it! I can't wait till more comes out. It's so hilariously offensive! And it touches on a lot of things wrong in our society. For example, Garterbelt is portrayed as a gay pedophile even though he's also a reverend. I also love the style it's drawn with. It reminds me a lot of Invader Zim actually..... I love it, but I don't recommend you watch it if you're easily offended.

I love this anime it is so darn crazy and so funny the music is so nice. but some people says it's power puff mix with pixie stick's on drugs. I blame youtube for that crazy comment.

Not the most purposefully offensive thing I've ever seen, but close to it. And it was unbelievably annoying too. The heroes don't seem to have any motivation, and the reverend is pretty much their babysitter and provider. So the only thing it really has going for it to be purposefully offensive and gross. Which really isn't all that groundbreaking. There are plenty of much, much more offensive series out there than this, and some of them are better too.
After watching it, the only thing I can compare this series to are high school kids who think swearing and talking about sex all the time is *gasp* SO grownup and mature. Really, that's all this series has going for it. Yet another thing teens can find to shove in the parents faces and say "I'm so, like, mature Mom. You can tell because I watch this really plotless, offensive, annoying show that I know you'll HATE." >.> |
Louis duLac : I understand where you're coming from when you say that, but I think you're looking at it wrong. Like South Park (which I actually hated), this show is basically a bunch of parodies layered upon each other. The swearing and sex talk is in direct reflection of the teen population. So it's designed to make fun of absolutely everything. It's horribly plotless, but if you look past that, you can see what they're getting at. And that would be to make fun of society, they are purposefully putting everything that's unacceptable (sex with everyone, disgusting stuff everywhere, pedophilia) in society yet it's still a major problem.
I can't deny that it is a bad influence to some people however, but I can say that whoever takes Panty and Stocking as someone they want to role model themselves after are incredibly stupid and can not think for themselves. And if they're not influenced by this show, they'll be influenced by some other negative source anyways. |

@bunny and sailor star Haha yeah, I personally love it, and it's shock value in each episode there's always something that'll make you go "OMG" haha xD It's crazy and offensive and that youtube comment seems accurate, lol. and bunnyonfire I think this show was influenced by shows like Southpark[not confirmed I think] and the style is influenced by Western animation and stuff. And I'm pretty sure in every episode everyone is based on someone from either an anime or show or something~ xD It's fun trying to catch all the references in people. |
I never heard of it until I looked at this thread. I watched a few episodes and from those episodes I can say that it's not too bad but it's not anything great either. There were a few things that I found funny and things I found dumb but that's just hte style of the show. I like the "comic" style animation they have going on with it.

Bunny: Yes, I did realize that this includes a lot of parodies, even to its own genre. But really, the meaning is missed when you make a parody that older people can understand and appreciate, but the creators put it in a high speed paced story with flashy animation that only appeals to teens. And when it can only appeal to teens visually, teens won't get the parody in the full sense.
It's like offering someone a glass of ice tea on a hot day, but then telling them that they have to listen to a screaming child for a full minute first that is supposed to have something to do with real life issues. The person might do it, but they won't enjoy it. And this is only experience the show gives. And yes, I do know that there may be some portion of 25+ people that will watch this. I know one guy that watches this, but he only watches it for the needlessly stripper-rific transformation sequence. That's all he watches it for. To masturbate to. Because, including him and everyone else my age that I know, does not care to keep up with the sped up high pitched dialogue, whirlwind animation, or nonsense slapstick provided by the Gir ripoff. |

I was thinking of watching this a week ago , But I decided not to. It actually isnt that bad. It makes me laugh even though it's kinda stupid xD

Haha, it is pretty stupid.
I think the later episodes are actually a lot better, and if you can get through all the vulgarity it's pretty sweet. :3 Episode 6 is probably many people's all time favorite episode, mainly because it's where an actual story starts to show up(or at least hint at) and the main antagonists of the show actually show up. Plus the fight scene in that episode is completely mindblowing. Not kidding at all. The newest episode that came out(episode 9, the second part) actually got me pretty sad, again if you look through the vulgarity[[there actually wasn't too much in that episode]] it's a really bittersweet love story, that can bring you to tears. |
I'm....not....quite sure what I just watched....
I didn't really like it until the fight scene, and even then I think it was because of the music and the style change... I might give episode 2 a try if I have time, but... Probably not gonna be in my top favorites. It just didn't really sit well with me... (That little dog thing reminded me of Gir from Invader Zim though, which amused me XD) |

This show isn't as bad as I thought it would be when I first saw the promotional image. I *love* the art style and how it adjusts to the diffrent parodys.
I think with a few edits for content, an english dub of this would fit right on Adult Swim. |

The season just ended two days ago, and I found it to be a very fitting ending, and they BETTER have a season two with the ending they pulled off! Haha I also can't wait for the soundtrack on the 29th. :) And I agree completely with you, Majokko the art style is pretty sweet(completely drew me in) and a bit of editing of the language would be perfect for adult swim, and maybe they could have the unedited version on DVD or something. |
I've watched the first 4 episodes I think. It's kinda refreshing to watch because it's not something that I usually am into. I guess you could say that it's a guilty pleasure of sorts. I'm planning on watching more soon and I'm glad to hear that there is going to be some semblance of a plot to tie this whole thing together.
I love the art style as well. It's a very fun and the bright colors amuse me since everything is so vulgar. lol. |
The plot seems to play a very small part in this first season (I'm still hoping for a second season! x3) Since the whole show is pretty much just their random antics, and vulgarity! xD

I think there is going to be second season cause if you look. on gogoanime's website they show the next ep is coming out this Friday. but oh my gosh did anyone else was shock by the last ep?

PSG is great. I absolutely love the crude and absurd humor, and the art style is really refreshing, IMO. The transformation scene art is also great.
The story doesn't really pick up until ep. 6 though. And I was so >:U at the ending of Season 1. I heard the second season is coming out as an OVA though, so I guess it's okay. xD Scanty & Kneesocks are my favorites. Brief is really cute too. |
