I've seen a lot of people make mention of this manga/anime in passing, especially in relation to other Magical Girl animes, so I wanted to make a thread on it, because while it isn't the best (IMO) it's one of the most popular and best-known animes of all time.

For me, the first season is almost unbearable watch, I know as a kid I loved it, but...As an adult I'm all like, omg, when will it end!?

Anyway, my favorite scout (of the original 5) is probably Sailor Moon (Serena/Usagi). Cheesy, I know. But she's quirky and cute and funny and a complete ditz, like me (or like I'd like to think). I find her relatable to some degree...Always having trouble with love, always having trouble with school and grades...Even as a kid, I looked up to her. She was a goof, but she still kicked ass as Sailor Moon.

I also liked Rei/Raye (Sailor Mars). She was powerful and firery..But my best friend at the time "claimed" her, so I never really admitted a like to her at the time, and instead claimed I liked Sailor Mercury second best. XDD;;

I think my favorite parts of the whole anime were the movies though.

I've also read only a fraction of the manga, but when I did read, I immensely enjoyed, moreso than the anime.

Never read the manga, myself, but I did watch the anime from time to time. I loved Sailor Mercury (Ami), because it fit me well. The nerdy school girl.

But my favorites were Sailor Uranus (Haruka) and Sailor Neptune (Michiru). I mean, come on. Lesbians :drool:

I never liked those two because they seemed so snobby and mean. :C

I have seen the entire series in Japanese and what has been dubbed. Japanese is better if you don't find having to read because they cut stuff out of the dubbed that is in the Japanese.. I've read nearly all the manga still trying for a full set to really sit and read it. i have also seen all the movies and the live action show based off the anime.. If darien/tuxedo mask was real and my friends laugh at me because they know how true it is I'd marry him/date him / what ever in a heart beat

I havent read the manga, but I have seen alot of the anime and watched some of the movies.
I like it alot and Serena (sailor moon) is my favorite, and shes even got my real name XD

I can't stand the first season of the English dub. It's just terrible. The first season in Japanese is a bit better but it's by far my least favorite season. I enjoyed Sailor Stars and Super the most. The Manga I think was a lot better and I liked the drawing style. It's a fun series although not the best. I still love it though. XD

It's amazing to how how big a role this show has played for a lot of people, girls especially, in introducing them to anime. I remember running home from the bus stop everyday trying to make it before 4 so I could catch the whole episode. :mrmayor:

Chibiusa will always be my favorite. I still have the poster of her from Super S that I bought at my first convention. My best friend in high school loved Hotaru so it was like destiny that we were best friends ^-^

Of the original 5, Makoto was my favorite. I loved how balanced she was, she could be strong and tough, but have an A in Home Ec. too.

I love Sailor Moon! My avatar is actually based on Chibiusa a bit. ;)

I never really got into the anime, but I love the manga. I actually own the series in Japanese -- I hope to be able to read it one day. However, my favorite version of the series is PGSM, the live action drama. It looks so weird at first, but once you get used to it, it really is amazing!

My favorite was always Mokoto and I guess she's still my favorite. A tough girl with a super soft side has always appealed to me . Otherwise, my favorite was Hotaru.

I recently watched season 1 on youtube with my brothers and man, it does just drag on. Despite that I plan to buy the whole anime series and the movies when I have $350+ to spare. @[email protected]

I found the anime and manga online, so I'll be going through those :yes: But it confuses me. There's Sailor Moon, Sailor Moon R, Sailor Moon S, Sailor Moon Super S (I think that's all...?) and I'm not sure which part goes where :lol: Regardless, I'll probably get bored after a couple chapters of manga and skip to the anime.

It goes: Sailor Moon (It has no suffix, so most fans call it "Classic"), R, S, SuperS, and then Stars. Stars was never released in America, so you'll only be able to find the Japanese version of that. (But honestly, the Japanese version is better than the English version anyway, so I'd just watch the whole series in Japanese. X3 But that's just me.)

Has anyone heard the news????? Sailor Moon (and Sailor V!!!) are going to be rereleased in the US!!!!!! :D :D :D :D :D
