Anime Guilty Pleasure

Is there an anime or manga out there that you would never admit that you like it but you secretly enjoy? Take Sailor Moon for example. Yes I admit that I do like it. Even if a lot of people do make fun of it for the obvious reasons. It's my childhood anime and apparently I don't want to let go of my childhood.=3
So what's yours? If you dare.

Clotho 03-23-2011 01:55 AM

Pokemon if it's even considered such xD
Eh
and Naruto, or Mermaid Melody Pichi Pichi pich, or Sailor Moon...
xD

Zombee. 04-02-2011 07:31 AM

I actually kind of like Naruto, to be honest. But everywhere I go, whenever Naruto is brought up, all I hear is "Oh narutards this and that," so I don't usually admit to liking it so easily.

I don't know why anyone would make fun of sailor moon but people just make fun of anime in general.

Because the Americanized-DiC version of Sailor Moon was so childish and pathetically horrible that even Sailor Moon fans can't help but make fun of it. It was garbage, and they ruined half of the story doing what they did.

So when most people think of Sailor Moon, unfortunately they think of what they saw from DiC and not what was actually the story of Tsukino Usagi, but rather "Serena."

But yes, Sailor Moon would also be my guilty pleasure for the reasons mentioned above >.<

Draciolus 04-11-2011 05:39 AM

I was kinda the only one in my group of friends who liked Dragonball Z. So I guess that could be my Anime guilty pleasure I guess. But then again, I'll give almost all anime a try. Heck, Ive even watched(and own) all of Noein. I thought it was a nicely done anime.

angelbabe1 04-11-2011 11:49 PM

Elfen Lied... yes its all around wrong.. but I like it alot for some reason..

Sailor Moon.. as well.

Dance in the Vampire Bund... aparently alot of people find it to be all fan-seivous but I dont thinkit is.. its got a great story line its sad/romantic too!

Angelo 04-12-2011 01:47 AM

For me, it'd probably be Ouran High School Host Club. :3 I laughed my head off when my sister showed me it.

Another could be Fruits Basket, but not as much. I thought it was a very intriguing storyline. :D

When I was in school, everyone in my class would make nasty comment towards me because I watched Anime, or any sort of cartoons for that matter.
So basically anything I watched during my secondary school years like Sailor Moon, Digimon, DBZ, Tenchi Muyo, Escaflowne, etc are the ones I still like to keep close to me. I still dont watch them with other ppl, Id rather watch them on my own ^_^

Draciolus 04-13-2011 06:01 AM

I loved Escaflowne. I loved it so much, I bought it on DVD....now I want to re-watch it again....but I lent it to a friend. Good thing I know I can trust him. xD

Oh, and I just noticed how in the first post it also mentions manga guilty pleasures....well, I used to have Queen's Knight manga. It had some good humor. I also have I think just over, or close to, 20 of the Tsubasa Manga. I dont know anyone really, other than the 2 friends(who are pretty much like brothers to me) who introduced me to manga, that actually read it.

Dragon Ball Z
Sailor Moon was my childhood anime such fond memories
Pokemon if that's considered one but the early episodes not the later stuff they have which is just cra... bad...

I liked the Digimon anime series that I watched but seriously got paid out for it because I was already in high school when it was on and most of the kids had already grown out of watching animated series in general, unless it was more mature in theme.

Beyblade is another guilty pleasure, the story is not the best but I liked some of the characters, Kai is still an awesome looking character in my opinion. :D

Cora 04-16-2011 03:21 PM

I guess I could call Ai Yori Aoshi a guilty pleasure. Despite the fact that its adorably cute and funny the covers tend to be.....alittle sugestive. Which tends to make people think I'm reading hentai.....o.0

cumquadparamour 04-17-2011 12:31 AM

Digimon would definately be one-I don't bring up liking it much cuz all of my friends think it's a stupid rip off and insult to pokemon, but I've always kind of liked it actually. I also kind of avoid telling most people of my love for the manga "My little sister can't be this cute" (not the anime though, that was just compLETELY stupid.)
In general, I don't really hide my interest of an entire series, I hide my degree of interest in it. For example, everyone who knows me knows that I have some interest in Naruto, but if anyone found some of my NC-17 GaaraxNaru doujinshi, I would deny writing them >.>

sarofset 04-21-2011 10:07 PM

Midori No Hibi. I've never seen it in English, and I don't care. lol. It's awesome.

Omnomnomnom 04-25-2011 01:09 PM

Digimon. :B
Not necessarily a 'guilty pleasure', but an anime I would never admit to liking and/or watching.
Everyone had always made fun of it, and say how bad it was or how much or a rip-off it was from Pokemon. I like Pokemon, too, it's just I'm more fond of Digimon. :)
I didn't get around to completing all of it, but it was good to watch.

Cruncher 04-26-2011 01:43 AM

I don't really think I have any. If I had to pick anything I'd say Starry Sky. My brother always makes fun of me for watching it but.. I can't help it. Haha. =]

Teh Toaster Basher 04-30-2011 10:34 PM

I admit to everything I like. I really don't like keeping secrets or lying about things. But my guilty pleasure would probably have to be Soul Eater. I love Soul Eater because of the good plot, characters, and art work, but you know how it is, it's an ecchi. I'm not reading it because it's ecchi, but because it is, it's pretty embarrassing to talk about sometimes.

HigurashiTwins 05-10-2011 10:24 PM

I love Pokemon...mainly for the little Pokemons~ the trainers are too happy o.e but may is my fav traienr~
I saw this kid get hated for liking Pokemon at my school so....

If this can be counted as a guilty pleasure...I like yaoi P:
everyone bashes me for it, but it's just...so....hawt!!! .///.

Mystic 05-11-2011 07:05 PM

Digimon is up there as well as Sailor Moon. I can make funm of something I like though. Let's face it, the Dubs of both shows in English are pretty bad. XD

Codette 05-12-2011 04:32 PM

Shugo Chara. It's so disgustingly girly and adorable that it just makes me squee and all happy inside. I'm totally embarrassed to admit that I like it. (Also the anime is way better than the manga- shocker-)

GangsterGlam 05-13-2011 09:33 AM

Digimon.

Although I'm not ashamed to admit it lol

It's so old now, and wonderfully childish.. and I'm in love with it. <3
I'm absolutely dying for the next season.

It's nothing like Pokemon, for those who think it's a rip-off. Absolutely nothing. And every season is amazing in it's own special way.

I'm surprised by how many people said Digimon too. :p And yet I'm not too because it's super amazing.

SixhNaoto 05-15-2011 01:36 AM

Tokyo Mew Mew.....I have yet to meet someone who didnt laugh at me when I said that. Cardcaptuor Sakura too....and of course Sailor Moon XD

GangsterGlam 05-15-2011 04:21 AM

I like tokyo mew mew too.. definitely a guilty pleasure. My friends think it's silly. xD But I think it's cute.

Cardcaptors is good aswell, thinking about re-watching it.
And Yugioh. I'm going to slightly torture my best friend by putting her through watching it with me.

shinigamikarasu 05-28-2011 09:39 PM

For me it would have to be Digimon, Beyblade, and Yu-gi-oh. I loved them when I was younger; I love them now.
