Black Lagoon
 

Black Lagoon is a manga/anime created by Rei Hiroe and has not had a new chapter for quite a while...but what is out there so far is AWESOME!

This series is based in the (fictional) city of Roanapur in Thailand, and can pretty much be called the hub of all crime, with the Russian and Italian Mafia's, the cartels and the Triads in a balance of control. That alone should be a clue that this series has a fair few moments of violence *cough*understatement*cough*
The series mostly focuses on the Lagoon Trading Company, which 'occasionally' brushes against the law to put food on the table. The team consists of Dutch, the owner of the company, Benny the technician, Rock the Japanese ex-businessman and Revy 'Two Hands', the gunner. And more often than not they end up involved in LOTS of gunfights.
Yeah, it's a standard shooting anime with lots of bullets, swearing, explosions and some mature moments, but nothing explicit or serious, just some exposed parts...and a decent amount of blood/gore in (surprisingly) realistic amounts!

And another point to remember-all of the scariest people...are female. That's not me making fun of it either. After watching this series, I can honestly say that if you run into any of them and they're not happy-RUN AS FAST AS YOU CAN IN THE OTHER DIRECTION!! Though you may not get far before you get shot or stabbed, depending on who.

If you wanna know more-go read the manga or watch the series. The manga has 9 volumes published in English and I have no clue when the next 1 is as it's currently midway through another Arc. Scanlations are online for those wanting to see that.
The anime is 2 series of 12 eps (total of 24) with most of the current manga covered and a series of OVAs being made to cover the final published Arc. Subbed or Dubbed can be picked as both are well done (and the english voice cast really does a good job with this anime) and can be enjoyed.
All of the characters are presented well and there are some that only appear for a little while, but they are truly memorable in their own little way. My personal favourite is Leigharch (if my signature doesn't give that away...he kinda reminds me of Ripper Roo from the Crash Bandicoot games there). You don't always get that in anime.
