Spring/Summer 2013

Even though spring has only just started, one can already feel summer approaching, and with a new season comes a new set of anime series to anticipate!

AniChart has already revealed a number of series set to air between July and September. So wether or not you're still full about the current Spring lineup, or you're eagerly awaiting the new series in Summer, this is the thread to talk about it!

Personally, I've not really been keeping up to date with it all, and am actually still getting caught up on Winter anime (Tamako Market, anyone?)... but now that I'm seeing some of the names, I must admit that I'm really looking forward to the new Studio Ghibli movie?! I wasn't even aware there was going to be a next one, oh my god-! [drool]

Attack on Titan is getting a LOT of buzz, and with good reason. It's that good. (Okay, I haven't had the chance to watch past the first episode yet, but I plan to rectify that. Plus that OP sequence -- OMG, BEST OPENING EVER.

(edited for spelling. wow, I can't believe I didn't catch that sooner. "too"? ergh. )

I wish the magazines I liked were still around. I liked having what I should get excited about coming to my door instead of having to search it out.

Oh? What magazine did you used to get, then, Biggles? :o

I have to admit that I've heard almost NONE of the buzz lately - so I hadn't even realized that Attack on Titan was being talked about. I'll have to check out that opening, onsenmark.

I'm also really looking forward to the new special of Aa! Megami-sama. It's a series I really enjoyed, that partly introduced me to anime and manga as a whole, and I retain a soft spot for it. I'm not sure how I feel about Kimi no Iru Machi - I've been following the manga, but in recent installments it's been a bit boring to me... so I'm not entirely sure how I feel about it being turned into an anime.
From the spring lineup, I've been watching Aku no Hana and Hataraku Maou-sama, and both are REALLY quite good, though very different. Aku no Hana is very dark and psychological, and I'm really enjoying it, whereas Hataraku Maou-sama is rather adorable and funny, so it makes for a nice contrast.

The only magazine that immediately comes to mind is Newtype. I used to get it back in the day and recall it having previews of upcoming anime and manga. I imagine it must still be in print, but I haven't bothered to pick up a copy in years (though that's mostly because I didn't have much time for anime or manga while in college).

I never liked newtype because it was all gloss with very little content. I liked things like animerica and anime insider because the had excellent coverage and a sense of humor. It felt like were part of a community and it was an experience to sit down and read them. Those are old names, it gives you an indication of how long I've been "out of the scene".

I remember those, never ended up getting them. Mind you, I only ever got one or two issues of Newtype. I was never a big magazine person. I know what you mean about being "out of the scene" for a while. I'm not sure I know what's what these days (especially with the newer things). It's been a few years since I've paid proper attention to anime. I've only been getting back into it in the past month or so, to be perfectly honest, so I've a 'to watch list' the size of a small mountain. xP

I never had any websites I actually frequented, so when those folded, that was about it for me. I wonder if there's anything to fill the gap now a days. Like I said, I liked a cohesive, engaging whole. It's hard to do that with a website, they have to post things as the come in.

I haven't the faintest idea what you could use, though I know that animeseason (where I've been doing most of my watching of newer things lately) tends to post subbed things as they're released, and it has a sidebar dedicated to all of the shows that are currently airing. Not sure it does quite what you're looking for but -shrugs- it's the best I've got.

As for the "cohesive engaging whole" you're talking about, I doubt you're likely to find anything overly comprehensive on the net these days. People seem to want the bare bones summary. air date, and that's it. I kind of miss the days of teaser caps, character info, etc.
