This anime came out in 2010 so it's the "old" side but I recently just discovered it. (Actually I've known about it for awhile but didn't watch until two weeks ago). It also recently released a movie this past February. So let's talk about Star Driver.

I went into this series only knowing two things. First, the hero of the story has a sailor moon-esque transformation sequence. Two, he called himself Galactic Pretty Boy.

Hilarious no? I should warn you though if you're expecting a parody anime, this isn't it though. It actually does have a great, somewhat serious, storyline (Dazzling Sparking Transformations aside)

Here's the summary of the show.

Star Driver takes place on the fictional Southern Cross Isle. One night, a boy named Takuto washes up on shore swimming from the mainland. He later enrolls in Southern Cross High School as a freshmen and makes new friends. However, beneath the school is a group of mysterious giants called Cybodies, which can be controlled by humans in an alternate dimension known as Zero Time. Takuto, The "Galactic Pretty Boy" , finds himself dragged into opposition with the "Glittering Crux Brigade". Glittering Star Cruciform Group), a mysterious group that intends to take possession of the island's Cybodies for their own purposes as well as break the seals of the island's four Shrine Maidens, whose powers prevent the Cybodies from functioning outside of Zero Time.

I admit it's got a slightly slow start. The first couple episodes just feel like "set up of drama for the episode, oh look bad guy, FABULOUS TRANSFORMATION, Takuto the hero wins!" repeat. Things start getting good around episode 6 though * u * I spent a lot of time raging against this show and saying it a terrible and horrible but once I stopped to absorbed it all in, I must of really liked it because I'm even drawing fanart of it! The music is wonderful too.
