It's been awhile. I went back about 6 or 7 years ago and watched it Subtitled. It was crazy how much they changed in the dubbed version xD

My cousin bought a bootleg DVD some years ago that has all 200 episodes subtitled. :B
Back in the day, when pretty much all you could see was the shitty US version, we use to go to this Japanese video store and rent Sailor Moon tapes raw, no subtitles or nothin'. They were recorded off the TV in Japan. |
Nice! My friends got a bootleg of Stars with subtitles which is the only reason I've seen it. We all huddled up on the sofa bed around a small TV and every second of it was... amazing.
My Dad later on went and downloaded all of the first season uncut with subtitles for me and put them on Dvds for me. <3 *Sigh* The things you had to do in order to watch anime back then. |
We use to rerecord those tapes for ourselves, even though we couldn't understand them. This was back around the time when Stars was still on the air in Japan. (Yeah, i'm old. [lol])
And then we used to buy fansubs off the internet. We bought the first season, S, SS and Stars. I can't remember why we didn't get R. |

Truthfully, I think it's a bit much, the fuss some fans make about what they call the 'filler' episodes. I'm of the opinion that if one doesn't like them, they can easily be skipped. Personally, I liked those little diversions, like the Makaiju arc and when Neherenia came back in Stars. I thought they were neat. ;D |
They may seem like filler in the show but it makes more sense in the manga :3

I collected the original manga years ago, from a Japanese book store. But my actual Japanese is very limited, so I really couldn't understand them. [lol] I know, that's pretty dumb of me.

That's not stupid at all! I think that's pretty awesome actually. I mean, sure you can't read it but it's got all the pretty pictures in it. If you can, I'd finish reading it. It gets pretty intense in the Stars Saga. So much in fact I wish that'd make another season for what they imply about in the manga. GAAAAHH! So good.
I have one of the old English mangas back from the 90s but by the time I was old enough to realize they had a manga, each volume was like... 50 bucks on ebay. >< But I picked them all up when they recently re-released them. Such pretty cover art. |
I can't wait to see it. I love the original sailor moon series, it was one of the first anime series that i watched.

I have been a sailor moon fan since i was 9 and it was my first anime I watched it all the time. I heard about the new sailor moon anime maybe like last year I have been waiting for it. But this is my question for the new sailor moon anime will it have japanese voice actors or english voice actors?

Initially it will have an all Japanese voice cast. [:)] I'm pretty sure there will be subtitles available.
Viz video, who bought the rights to Sailor Moon, is redubbing the original 200 episodes. Viz also have the rights to Crystal, but I don't believe they've made many announcements concerning the reboot. |
