There are no other details according to the article, other than it's apparently going to be a TV series.

Man, oh man, I can't wait to see what develops, 'cause I like Macross as a whole. I'm kind of hoping they delve into a bit of the "lost history", like what happened to the Megaroad on its journey to the center of the galaxy(although it's been said that it'll likely never happen)...
