DC vs Marvel

Ok, this is the ultimate of verus's for many comic book superhero fans.
Whic are you a fan of and why is the other better?

DC:
Orginal of the superheroes with Superman
Justice Leauge
The superheros here to to be very super and powerful
Shows like Teen Titans
Long running
Um, not much else for me with DC, bigger Vertigo fan

Marvel:
X-men
some of the best superhero movies
They're superheros tend to be more real
First Superhero team ever, Fantastic 4
One of the biggest comic book events is being put out by them right now, Civil War
The X-men legends games

If you got any other pluses or minuses to add for either, let me know.
me personally, i choose marvel, but I wll take the Vertigo line over any of them, but not much there interms of superheroes anywas.
What do you choose?

Yes, but if there was no DC and Marvel, you would lack many of the superhero types in manga.
And that Spiderman is very very huge in Japan.

Sailor Moon, Tokyo Mew Mew, pretty much any magical girl, hell even Dragon ball Z have the basis of super heros with out being called super heroes.
Super heros comics was some of the big ones to surive the comic code and to go on influencing the world.
You really think without the Fantastic 4 being created, them being the first team heroes in a comic, such things as magical girls would be around?
Yes, there would still be manga, but both influence off of each other, to deny that, is just well wrong.

Wow, what a reason to discredit them.
Naruto is just DBZ with ninjas, and even contains elements of super heros style.
And besides, aside from maybe chocobots, those animes are pretty much just like the longer running super hero comics of our side.

So, only because it's manga/anime means it can nto contain the same trace elements that super hero comics have?

Have you actually read any super hero comics? Or are you one of those who simply think that because it's american, means it can not be good?

And yes, I've watched both DBZ and Naruto. It's pretty much the same, except one has ninjas.

no, there is a hell of differences okay, the person who made naruto did not copy a retarded series about a bunch of muscle heads running around looking for balls.

yes i have read superhero comics

So then you can see the trace elements of teams and the idea of being a powerful person through out Naruto, Inuyasha, FMA? right? They are just not running around in the same costumes, which comics down to being one of the big factors for super heroes.

And instead you get whiney ninjas trying to become all powerfu? Unlike large muscle heads trying to become all powerful?

dragonpaladin 01-30-2007 11:04 PM

ugh you just dont understand naruto then, okay, im etting pissed off by people who say naruto is a rip off of DBZ, it is not, DAMNIT, ITS JUST LIKE SAYING MENEWSHA IS A COPY OF GAIA, OKAY, WINDOWS VISTA IS A COPY OF APPLE, FORD IS A COPY OF ____________, SONY COPIES NINTENDO BY MAKING THE PS

Itticus 02-06-2007 06:31 PM

I have always preferred Marvel comics over DC comics, and I hated the crossover that they did a few years back. Irritated me to no end. :x

Icksel 02-06-2007 06:36 PM

DC

i'm a Batman girl
plus, Vertigo is a DC company

AkashaHeartilly 02-06-2007 09:35 PM

I;ve never payed attention to the cross-overs that marvel did. Mainly only reading the Civil War series and the Eternals.

I and completely agree about the Veritigo, but something I don't even consider that part of DC with everything they put out.

Lilithia 02-06-2007 11:06 PM

Who created Spiderman & Batman respectively?

I use to like Marvel and then they went all haywire and the time line was all messed up and they were killing people and then bringing them back to life. Now don't get me wrong I still read spider-man and exiles.
I would say that I liked DC more but with this whole year later stuff they have gone and messed everything up as well. They keep saying they are going to explain it but i have yet to see that happen. Plus they got rid of Batgirls books.
Well those are my two cents and I didn't even anwser the question. I guess for know Marvel.

Keska 02-21-2007 12:10 AM

Honestly I'm torn with this question.

I used to be a Marvel girl all the way. I absolutly loved X-men and Spider Man. But then the books just started to annoy me for various reasons.

So I went and started reading more DC books. For a while that was great. But now my favorite characters are gone and a lot of what I liked about the books is also gone. For instance the family feel of the Teen Titans book is gone.

Right now I read more DC books than Marvel books. So I guess currently it's DC but that might change.

xdark_secretsx 03-11-2007 05:29 AM

Truth be told I don't really read comics that music though I am a Marvel fan. =)

Love X-Men, Spider-Man. Mainly X-Men.
I watched both X-Men and Spider-Man the animated series in the 90's and loved them so much.

I do like DC stuff, though not as much as I like Marvel.

Starburstnova 03-11-2007 10:11 PM

Marvel for me, definitely. 8)

eig 03-11-2007 10:27 PM

dc forever. i love superman~ all my dad's fault, i read his super old comicbooks from the 60s.

AkashaHeartilly 03-11-2007 11:28 PM

It seems few people are into superman now days.
To be honest, i really have not read any superman comics.

Spatterdash 07-23-2007 08:48 PM

DC all the way for me. I do like some stuff from Marvel, and I'm not entirely happy with the way DC's going at the moment (all these damned crossovers and deaths and things), but there's just so many characters that I love. I tend to read trade paperbacks rather than buying ongoing series as well, so I just buy what I know is well-written.
I'm not going to list all my favourites, since there's so many, but I'm a massive fan of the Flash. The older ones more than the new, but they're all great fun.

FrostsHellion 01-29-2008 08:54 PM

Make mine marvel... DC has fallen WAY behind in making good comics and keeping the interest up. Marvels had my attention locked up since avengers disassembled, through house of m, the decimation, the civil war, the intiative, world war hulk... its just one great story after another.

Although marvel DID just a-rape the ENTIRE spider-man continuity as a last ditch effort to split up spider-man and mary jane... now that hurts my confidence in the company.
