Well, I just thought I'd start a thread on this manga seeing as it is my favorite of all time. I love Samura's sketchy inkwork, and his pencil renders/oil paintings. His story, too, is deep and intriguing. My favorite character (of any movie/anime/manga/book) is Manji. <3
So, feel free to come chat, hangout, discuss plot lines, characters, etc. ^-^ I'm through the latest US release - "Shortcuts"
Examples of the Art

<--I have a print of that on my wall ^^

This definately sounds like a manga I would want to read, just based on the title ^.^
Can you tell me something more about the series? Please and thank you ^.^

Hazel - Sure! It's set in ancient Japan, I believe near the end of the samurai era. It's about a man who has kessen-chu inside of him (little "repair" worms that seal all his wounds so he can't die), and a girl who's parents were killed in order to wipe out their sword school by an up-and-coming non-traditional sword school. She hires Manji (the immortal) to be her bodyguard and help her track down the man who killed her parents. It's a good action graphic novel with a really interesting story line and wonderful characters. ^^
light - !! I forgot about Makie, oh I love her too! I have a thing for badguys as well, but Manji definitely captures my heart (I'm fond of Magetsu as well whether he's "good" or "evil") ^~

Mmm, yes I think it will be. I think I like the Itto-Ryu conflict better than this current arc they are on; I like to see Manji in action, not dissected. D:

hahahahah yeah, i think it's almost over-done with the LETS CUT MANJI UP arc. lol.
i'd like to see manji fight Habaki Kagimura. He seems to be real good with the sword. it'd be awesome.
And yes. The Return of the Itto-Ryu! Please!!! :D

I'd like to see Manji express his feelings for Rin, just once! XD
I'm a hopeless romantic. ^^;

The books aren't too hard to find, Borders usually has a pretty good selection of them (at least where I am), but I'm not sure if there are any scanslations floating around out there... I haven't come across any at least. ^^

aaaah, light not so big about romance. and kinda like it that it stays in the bg. how old is Rin-chan anyway in the story now? She was 15? 16? when it started? Still a baby...
Manji looks so old compared to her.... XDDDDDD
I love how Anotsu and Makie are though. Simply heart-wrenching.

<333 Makie and Anotsu...yes. Also, Anotsu and ... that girl... from the samurai place, augh I forgot her name! I think it starts with an 'O'? And I'm away from my books, and too lazy to look it up on the computer! XD
Yeah, I think Rin was 14? when the story started, and now she's 18? and I'm sure Manji's around 28? but I don't care... I just really like their little crushes on each other. ;_; Hehe. ^^
I love kickass Manji scenes though, like what he did to Shira the first time. >)

hahahahah yeah. Shira episode. Mannn. That guy's a real case. LOL. This was one of the plots that I enjoyed. Really enjoying Magatsu's character development in it.
Yes, I cant remember his wife's name either. That arc was tragic.
*is so happy to find a fellow BoTI fan here, btw, navivi*

Yeah, Blade of the Immortal is so underrated. :/
I love that series. I need to re-read it though, I kinda
forget a lot. Makie is my favorite character. :]
Hiroaki Samura is kinda sadistic, but I love his work. xD

This thread is a bit underrated apparently! *shoves it back into view*
It's such an awesome series! I -love- Manji, and I'm glad to see how much Rin has developed. I know she's got a lot of fans but she was really sort of an airhead at the start.
Although I'd prefer to see Manji in action more, it is still kind of interesting to see more about how the kessen-chu work, and it does make you wonder how you get them in the first place since they're obviously very difficult to transfer.
And I wonder if there's more motive than an immortal army to the search for how to spread the Kessen-Chu to others.
