yeah, I really miss it. I still remember how much I was enthralled the first time I saw it on toonami though. XD And the Dub was actually decent. Since then, I listed to the original japanese dialogue, and strangely, preferred the english dub to the japanese sub. XD

hehe my husband is really into gundam wing. when i first meet him (well went to his house) his room had all kinds of models of the gundam wing mechs. and one or two wall scrolls as well. apparently he also had a fansite for it as well that he worked on in the end of middleschool/ begining of highschool (i didnt meet him till the end of junior year). i havent actually watched the series yet because in geneeral im not a big fan of mechs, but he certainly loved it a lot.

I used to really dig it, but now I see it can't really stand up to the regular universe Gundam stuff. I watched it again recently and felt it dragged on too long, didn't develop certain characters as well as it should've, and clumsily dropped plot threads and then went "Oh wait! That's right ..." too many times. Don't get me wrong, episode to episode, it's entertaining, but looking at the whole tapestry that is Wing, it starts to look like a pale knock-off of the original MSG. It just feels like something that could've been far grander than it ended up being if only they had plotted it a little better and punched up their scripts.

On the plus side, the characters they DID develop I usually liked. Hiiro, Duo, and Trowa I like, as well as Noin and of course, the baddest mofo of them all: Treze. Treze was such a pimp ... much better than angsty (but then they were all angsty, weren't they?) broody Char-wannabe Zechs ... Mr. I'm all badass and stuff but then I'll disappear for 10 episodes at a time, come back for 2 with a whole different allegenge with whom I'm allied for nebulous reason, angst, then disappear again. Sorry. I wanted to like him, but Zechs gets old quick, as did the 700 political overthrows. Uhm, but I digress. Treze rocked. Most of the mobile suits were pretty darn nifty too. Always loved Deathscythe and the Tallgeese (I,II, and III) and of course, Epyon.

By the way, am I the only one who thought "Endless Waltz" sucked so very hard?

Oh wow XD; I actually got into yaoi in general because of the Gundam Wing's fanfiction XDDD;; I never watched it before the fanfiction, but the characters portrayed in the fanfic (forgot what it was, but it was a damn good one) were so interesting. *3*

I watched a few episodes, though unfortunately, since I'm not a mecha fan, I just couldn't look past it ;3; *stuck with the fanfic instead* ^^;;

I never watched it, well no. I've seen parts of it. I can't really consider myself to be a "fan" but I love Endless Waltz. I did read the manga and my cousin was totally obsessed with it. My favorite characters are Duo and Trowa. *nods* ^^

My favorite pairings <.< >.> *looks around* is Heero and Duo.

  • Gundam Wing was one of my favorites back in the day because it was on Cartoon Network. Even though I didn't understand what was going on half of the time, I still thoroughly enjoyed the animation and such. I was thoroughly amused with the movie that went with it, too. I remember watching it the first time it appeared on Cartoon Network, and I was just sitting on my parent's bed watching it wide eyed, jaw dropped. Sadly, I don't remember too much about the storyline anymore because it wasn't one I obsessed over, but it's still the only Gundam series I've seen. I'll have to make my boyfriend watch the series with Char innit. xDD

Honestly, I've never seen any of it... I'd like to, though! XD;

I love some of the themes from it, though! Like T.M. Revolution's "ignited" & "INVOKE." *nods head furiously* I <3 him muchly.

Definitely one of my favorite series. I love most of the gundam series. Gundam Seed is probably right up there in terms of good plot (albeit slightly confusing) but good action also. Epyon and Tallgees III from gundam wing rock.

T_T Just calling it old makes me FEEL OLD! I was going through my "Am I too old to watch anime?" phase when they were showing GW on Cartoon Network... And I'd already seen it before that!

I really don't like mecha animes, but I was a huge fan of GW.

Oh, I loved Gundam Wing. <333 But I haven't seen it in YEARS. Always had an emotional attachment to Trowa, for some reason, despite being an absolute supposed Duo Maxwell female incarnate. (We even both have blue eyes and 3 foot long braids, haha).

I had a hard time following it when I was younger, but the second time around I got it just fine, though the plot was a little, iffy at times, that just made me love it more. xD;

Never was able to get into the other Gundam series', though I love, LOVE the OSTs for all of them.

Haha, I had my own Zero model that took forever and a day to build, and my cat knocked it over and gnawed all the pieces up. T__T;

I loved Gundam Wing so much. It was the first anime I really really got into. 8D Bought posters, daydreamed about it, started trying to draw it, and all that. (I still have those UGLY doodles, lol.)
I think I was... well maybe 11-ish when I first watched it, and GW proved highly educational because it taught me words like rondevouz, coup, and guerilla (lol, I used to be so confused about them saying guerilla until my brother explained that it was another word, not gorilla.)

I really think it's a great anime because its plotline is so complex and it isn't typical like some anime, I think, in the portrayal of its characters. It's not overly comedic or bloody, etc. If you rewatch the series start to finish you'll be amazed at the developments the characters go through, how Zechs, Treize, and Lady Une jump from villains to good guys and all that.

I didn't discover fanfiction or fanart after watching GW though, and I'm sort of glad... I had NO idea so many people thought the pilots were gay until years later. XDD; I still don't get it, since no one seems to have a sex drive and the pilots all have female counter parts to give them support anyway.

And I saw Endless Waltz Special Edition a few months ago. <333 Yay, extra scenes!

Ahh, my gateway anime. I remember I used to rush home from school every afternoon to watch it. I had the VCR set up to tape it off of Cartoon Network, but STILL. IT HAD TO BE WATCHED.

I had all the action figures, too. And the old manga, with the cheap-ass binding that fell apart the first time I read it. I wanna dig out my old tapes now. ;_;

I'm not sure if that's the first one (there are so many Gundam series! @[email protected]) but I saw it recently and did enjoy it. I went all fangirly over one of the characters, so I can see how so many people love it. I think I would have adored it more had I seen it earlier in my life.

I wasn't enthralled enough to start renting the other eighty thousand Gundom spinoff series, although I might do that at some point. And if I'm wrong, and I'm talking about the wrong Gundam series, then...nevermind?

Haha, someone brought up the mention of fanfiction that goes along w/ the series. mangs. The fandom for GW is INSANE. The strange thing is how popular it got in the us, because I don't think it was that mainstream in Japan.

XD i have mini wing models and stuff too, and i recently bought the box DVD set so I could enjoy the series again. :3

I have never seen Gundam Wing before. Is it good to watch? My first time watching those gundam series is Gundam Seed which made me fall in love with it after watching few episodes.

Gundam Wing... oh, that brings back memories. *Misses Toonami* Heh. I loved this show. Still kind of do. At least, if it was on television again I would eagerly watch it. *Nods*

I loved both Duo (naturally) and Zechs. They were my favorites.. not necessarily together though, mind you. That'd just be silly.

Speaking of, I must confess to still reading some GW yaoi on occasion... >.> I was never really into the het pairings, except for Noin and Zechs.

HA
its my animation drug.
its one of those series i can just put on the English track and listen to it without watching it. all my fav VAs were in it...well, at that time they werent because i didnt know them XD then when i found out all their names and previous works, they became my fav group.
especially Brad Swaile (who is the voice for Light Yagami in Death Note). just totally loved his soft spoken boy roles.

even if you hated it...
it was something that made you watch it

it was also my first finding out about "pairings"

it was also interesting to think about using kids to fight adult battles.
watching the show makes me giddy. its the same feeling i got when i watched Akira.
