hahaha i love the bunny backpack!! and then he wanted to go eat ice cream!! i guess no matter what age he'll still be his cute self :) and haru is pretty wise for a teenager... even with his black side
|
I love both his black side and his white side. His white side is just always so calm, and he says the weirdest things! Although I really loved it when Black Haru almost beat up Akito for imprisoning Rin
|
I loved the manga i am sad that it is over there needs to be more maybe more of the anime to idk
I LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |
@the roze: i really like the relationship that haru and rin have... it seems the most honest out of all the characters... regardless of the whole rin lying to haru and breaking up with him... but that was all to save him...
@eclipse ookami: i also wish there was more anime :( |
Yeah, Haru/Rin and Kyou/Tohru are my two favourite couples ^^
The anime missed out so much! Like, a whole year of stuff happened that wasn't mentioned. Not to mention Kureno and Rin. |
I love both the anime and manga versions of Fruits Basket. I believe that the anime is a wonderful adaptation of the first part of the manga series...and I wish that they would make the second half as well to be truthful. When it comes to characters I identify the most with Haru...mainly because I am a Taurus in the western zodiac and an Ox in the Eastern, so I see myself and how I can be in him. My favorite characters are also him along with Kyo & Momiji and Akira (I enjoy insanity...) I also really liked Hatori. My favorite couples were Haru & Rin then Kyo & Tohru. I really enjoyed reading the whole series...although the end had an abrupt feeling to me...I'm not quite sure why...nor do I want to spoil anything for anyone. ^_^
|
I found the ending quite abrupt as well, but I supposed that was just because I didn't want it to end ^^
All the same, I think it was a good ending. I was born in the year of the Dog - Shigure. I do like Shigure but he's not one of my favourite characters. |
I'm a dragon, and I happen to like Hatori quite a bit. He's a brave man, dealing with the other two disasters of the Mabudachi trio. I really didn't like Yuki, so I was quite glad his older brother embarrassed him so, and Aya in a wedding dress is priceless. The beauty of Fruits Basket is that almost all the characters changed or developed in the story, and they didn't exaggerate or give that "oh-my-God-the-main-character-is-a-spaz-yet-I-cant-help-falling-in-love" male harem sorta thing that you see in so many shojo, the characters are quite clear about their feelings, or define them throughout the series. Truly, my favorite shojo, and a classic to those who have yet to read it (shame on them).
|
I do quite often feel sorry for Hatori having to put up with Shigure and Aya, but then again Aya does listen to him, doesn't he? I really hate Yuki but I love Aya. They're almost complete opposites ^^

im year of the rabbit
i love momiji |
I adore this manga. Can't stand the anime. IMO the anime kind of destroyed the whole feel of Fruits Basket. They made it all cutesy and carefree in nature, and it's really not. There's really kind of a dark undertone in the manga that the anime missed entirely, and I think it's important.
Then again, the anime ended waaaaay before the manga did, so I suppose they couldn't get into the vibe of the later volumes. |
Seriously? You haven't gotten to volume 16 yet?I've already finished reading volume 18 and waying to get 19 once the libaray lets me know they have it(Broke so I have to lend threough the libaray, lol).I can tell you this though, passed volume 16,it gets really intense and suspenseful!!!I'm for real on that shit.

I kinda agree with you on that. The manga is amazing but the anime's not that great. I really wish they'd made it more loyal to the manga, and also made it longer! |
Fruits Basket is a wonderful anime, I adore both the anime - - and the manga. However I do favour the Manga more than the Anime. My favourite characters have to be Akito, Yuki - - and Kyou.
|
I absolutely adore - love - enjoyed reading the Fruits Basket manga! Once i finished reading the manga, i was just in awe, and kind of upset at how the anime was portrayed, like a lot of Fruits Basket fans. But I did consider the fact that the anime was created during the time the manga was still in progress, and I can see how the author may have felt better to make a short cute version of an anime, ending it with still questions, but worth at least watching it once. The manga tied up every lose end and was one of the few stories that had me crying almost every chapter. The depth, the description, the plot, the characters were all very relate-able.
The manga overall is a 10/10, and is one of the few books/mangas that I constantly re-read and find my favorite chapters and such. I do wish they would make a second anime to follow the manga more closely, or make a second season. |
The manga series had a really cute ending, but I don't like how the drawings changed. The faces just looked..different. There were also several depressing past stories throughout the series that made me want to put the book down. It started out funny and then got too serious. I just recently started watching the anime with my best friend. I've seen some of the episodes before, but it was a long time ago. I'm glad Rin isn't in the anime; I just couldn't stand her! I also hate Akito. [I doubt I'm the only one who feels that way..] The love that blossoms between Kyo and Tohru is very adorable. I was surprised when I found out the connection between Kyo and Tohru's mom. [Must...resist...spoiling...] Kyo was my favorite character; I suppose I have a natural attraction towards crabasses. The dubbed version definitely has better voices. |
I recently finished the manga. The very last bit surprised me, I wasn't expecting it at all. Not to say that I didn't like it but yeh....'sall good.
I remember watching the anime a number of years ago now. It was my favourite anime at the time, and because I hadn't read the manga, I had nothing to compare it to. Because of this I think the anime was not as bad as a lot of people seem to think. If you don't compare it to the manga, as a stand alone, it's good, it had good music and lovely artwork/animation. Of course the manga being the original makes more sense as a story despite the way the drawings changed. You could tell the story was well thought out from the beginning because everything in it is mentioned for a reason. That's one of the great things about Fruits Basket I think. |
I still need to read the manga. I'm a horse and she (I think I heard the horse was a girl) doesn't show up in the anime, so I'm curious as to her character is like. Just from the anime, my favorite characters are Kyou (he reminds me of Ichigo from Bleach), Ayame (how can you NOT love him), and Momiji (he's so cute).

@shinigamikarasu: isuzu (or rin) is a pretty cool character... she has a really wounded soul so she lashes out at people but she really is just kind of scared... not to give anything away :D but you really should read the manga... you learn so much more about all the characters!!
|
I always wondered - why is Isuzu's nickname Rin? I never really got that...
I still love her character though. She and Haru are in my opinion the second cutest couple in the whole manga. |
isuzu has the name rin because you can write isuzu out to mean bell and what sounds does a bell make... "rin"... apparently haha... you learn it in the manga i believe
|
Hmm somehow I missed that part ^^
Well, I think Rin is a really pretty name. I preferred her look when she had long hair |
yea i loved her long hair too... i was so jealous! i think it getting cut off was like her metamorphosis though...
|
Yes, I agree, but I still prefer her look when it was long...
Haru's hair is amazing! |
i completely agree!!
