Hmm, my first was Sailor Moon. :3 Well, actually, my first was Cybersix, but I don't think that counts as anime. XD;; Then it was Pokemon, then Digimon, then Dragon Ball + Dragon Ball Z. XDD;;; I was such a nerd. 8D!

Ancasta 05-04-2007 11:09 PM

Technically my first anime was Speed Racer, but in those days no one knew what anime was so I just assumed it was an old cartoon. Then Sailor Moon and Dragon Ball hit the airwaves, and it was hate at first sight. I loathed those series with all of my black heart, and would usually throw things at the T.V. when they came on.

Then Cardcaptors started airing, and I went online to find out more about the series (and why in blue blazes it wasn't making sense.) I loved it, and finding the Tenchi Muyo series shortly after cemented that love. And the rest is history.

Pokemon was my first. <3 Either that or Sailor Moon, I can't quite remember. They were both around the same time, weren't they?

The first anime I purposely watched when I actually knew that it was anime would have to be either Inuyasha or Yu Yu Hakusho though. Ahh, good old Adult Swim. Other early ones for me were like Digimon, DB (DBZ, etc.) and Ranma 1/2. xD Good times.

Rurouni Kenshin was what first hooked me on manga. I used to just stand in the bookstore and read it all instead of buying my own copies. I'd get a bit dizzy and lose my distance eyesight for a little while afterward, but it was well worth it.

And Naruto got me hooked on anime. I remember a year or to ago they had a New Year's marathon of it on Cartoon Network. I had nothing better to do, so I just plunked myself down and watch a few episodes. After just a little, I as hooked.

Very first anime I ever saw was Voltron and Ronin Warriors. And both are still some of the greatest animes I've seen. Even tho they are super old and beyond what todays audience wants they are still great pieces of work.

Ronin Warriors got me interested but after that I found Gundam Wing and that hooked me.

GeminiKizzy 05-09-2007 04:46 AM

Voltron was my real first but I didn't realize it was anime...just a cool cartoon. Then there was ThunderCats. Was that anime? I really don't know.

Flinx 05-09-2007 05:30 AM

I have to say Doraemon... more like a comic really. More manga one would be Sailormoon. Oh man the good old days... I used to draw Sailormoon in class, and my teacher scolds me. xP

stormsangel 05-09-2007 06:34 AM

I think the first anime I ever saw was Astro Boy but when I first watched (when I was about 7 or something) I thought it was just a cartoon because I didn't even know anime existed

Though I hardly knew it at the time, Rainbow Brite was my first anime. Most people don't actually know it's an anime either...
The first that I knew was anime however was Sailor Moon. I started watching Sailor Moon and was lucky to have the internet at the time, so I went searching. I found out about anime and how there's so much more in Japan than there is here. I read as much as I could about as many shows as I could and I downloaded so many images, video clips, songs and even shows that my dad had to upgrade our computer's memory.
It was a couple years later that I found manga for sale (Sailor Moon comics in Hot Topic) and I bought up every new manga I could find. It took forever for book stores to start carrying them.
Needless to say, I've been hooked. ^_^

GeminiKizzy 05-13-2007 03:32 AM

How funny. I had no idea that Rainbow Brite is an anime. That is so cool Guess I've always been an anime fan.

Emily Sargent 05-14-2007 09:07 AM

I'd say Sailor Moon, but it wasn't that simple. I've seen a lot of other animes before that.

There was Tondeburin, Tendekkuman, Dragon Quest: Dai No Daiboken, Dragon Ball, Dragon Ball Z and Yu Yu Hakusho.

With that much exposure, it's no surprise that I came to love the genre as a whole.

Tsubasa Rose 05-15-2007 03:07 AM

i'd seen alot of animes before Cardcaptors but i didn't know it until i got into CCS so i think its my first :D

LennaHime 05-16-2007 02:13 AM

My very first one was Sailormoon. I used to be obsessed, but now I'm mostly over it. ^^ But every so often, I try to stifle the urge to run around throwing frisbees and blowing bubbles at people...heehee.

SirYuki 05-16-2007 02:14 AM

Well ranma, sailor moon or db

bslayer 05-16-2007 05:49 AM

First was probably Pokemon or Sailor Moon. I really liked Cardcaptors too xD I'm sure if I watched it now I would say it was terrible, but back in elementary school I would run home from the bus to see it right at 4 o clock hehe.

Tsubasa Rose 05-16-2007 08:41 PM

bslayer: oh yeah totally lol i actually bought a VHS (yes a flippin VHS) of it and i watched it like a year ago with my sister and i just don't know where the appeal came from lol

but its only the american version watching CCS instead is still good. besides we were young, for me it was about six years ago .... (i sound old but i'm really not lol) :D

i've actually thought about it and my first may have been gundam... like the old school one lol but at the same time db/dbz and sailor moon

lennaHime: yeah thought i was Way over it, then my friend downloaded every single episode ... and now i'm back at square one XD lol

Colours 05-17-2007 12:24 AM

My first would have to be Apanman and Astro Boy.
Afterwards, Sailor Moon and this other old anime I don't remember. XD

Some Random Randomness 05-17-2007 01:13 PM

I had a friend that got me interested about 6 years ago. I know it hasn't been that long, but I've been an avid fan since. It was all just a bunch of anime's at once.

First I borrowed Rurouni Kenshin the movie from her, then Chobits. She showed me InuYasha on the computer and I bought Card Captor Sakura as my first manga.

Adrian 05-17-2007 01:44 PM

DragonBall

kimu 05-18-2007 12:47 AM

Akira ; D

lilazngirl100 05-19-2007 02:21 AM

WOW! Never knew Pokemon was a anime. Well besides Pokemon my first anime probably was...Naruto the japanese version (from along time ago...) and the first manga that I read was proabably Instant Teen. It's pretty funny. You guys should read it next time! :D

Deidara 05-20-2007 02:41 PM

Digimon first, but I didn't really know it was an anime. Then, when I found a charmander card at church, I got into Pokemon. :D After that, I sort of figured out about anime and started enjoying Slayers, Naruto, and FMA. Then I sort of got over Slayers... it wasn't that great anyways, but I'm still in to Naruto and FMA.

Tinman 05-20-2007 07:16 PM

The first real manga I read, I believe was Ranma 1/2 (before my time, but randomly stumbled over it) and Tenchi Muyo

broken_angel 05-20-2007 09:09 PM

Hmm...Pokemon and Gundam Wing were my first anime, I think. :3

As for my first manga...Angel Sanctuary. ^^
