Sailor Moon = BEST THING ON EARTH!
Sorry huge moonie here and I will always love Sailor Moon and the Sailor Scouts. I will never grow out of Sailor Moon, it was my first anime, and I didnt even know it was anime. I watched it one time at my grammies house at like 7am on the Kid's WB way back when. Jupiter was always my favorite. I am 20 years old and still lovin' Sailor Moon! I like to watch the Uncut original Japanese version with English subtitles. :)

adorably_evil 03-04-2009 04:18 AM

It was my first series too. Saturn is my all time fav, but I do love all of the senshi and other characters. I have every season and the movies. In fact I'm watching the R season now XD I'm even cosplaying Princess Hotaru at Sakura Con this April. It is such a great series and I will never out grow or tire of it. If I can get my DVDs to survive, my children will watch it as well :P

Tgoga 03-04-2009 04:41 AM

Sailor Moon was my first ever anime, I remember waking up way early in the morning and watching it before school when I was like six O.O So long ago.

I even had all the little mini dolls back then, I have no earthly idea where the went to XD

Yeah the books are hard to get now, I heard the u.s. isn't licensed to sell Sailor Moon merchandise of something like that O.o I could be wrong.

I did manage to get all the stars and super s books as well as v.l. 11 of the first series and I do have the first manga but it's all in Japanese XD

adorably_evil 03-04-2009 04:43 AM

You're right. The U.S. lost the rights to any Sailor Moon merchandise. I don't remember why, but they did, so now we must buy our stuff online -_-'

fiarra 03-04-2009 11:00 PM

From what I know, the creator pulled the rights and wouldn't let anyone pick them up. You can hardly blame her with how badly they destroyed the series when dubbing it here. =X

Julianna 06-30-2009 01:51 AM

my first anime! <3 it seems to be many girls first anime here in north america ^^
sailor moon is such adorable and really funny to watch! <3 i also had the dolls!
i wonder what i would think of it if i watched it now!

i should go buy all the seasons if its possible! <3

fiarra 06-30-2009 06:03 AM

Julianna: if you are in the US, that will be next to impossible. They only did 3 seasons I think here... and now no one has the rights to it so they've stopping selling it pretty much everywhere

Ghost Love Score 07-14-2009 02:41 AM

OMG.. Sailor Moon Was THE BEST... To Bad they Never Finished the Seires.. cause of the Gender Bending Sailor Starlights...

marialomasee 07-31-2009 03:57 AM

I love sailor Mars she is my favorite, sailor moon and the others are nice too, but this one i like to copy the things she do

BlackMage KaiheiTsukiredi 07-31-2009 02:13 PM

Ah, Sailor Moon. I remember watching it when I was little and it made me completly obsessed with it. You don't know how many Sailor Moon items I had XD. My favorite was always, for some odd and unexplainable reason Sailor Saturn. I guess I liked her shy personalitiy and her dark secret. I even cosplayed as Sailor Saturn for a Halloween Dance I went to (the costume costed around $120. The tiara broke somehow .__.)
I was disappointed when they stopped airing the shows (and I didn't know of the last season until I looked it up... then I realized why they didn't air the rest.). I stopped watching Sailor Moon for a couple of years until i decided to watch them again, but in Japanese. It was so much better than the English, of course. And I was so shocked to find out Zoicite was acutally a guy (since I was so used to him being a girl... and the fact that he looks really feminine O_o). I'm on the third season now, I forget which episode.
I guess you can say I'll probably remain a Sailor Moon fan for a long time? XD

Sailor Moon, yes! This was my first anime I've ever seen and I loved it as a kid. Sailor Saturn was my favorite. :3

PinkWafflez 08-03-2009 04:34 AM

Sailor moon is my third fave anime because i only watch like 5epi.

chiiruchan 08-29-2009 11:39 PM

Sailor Moon is awesome!! I'm glad there are still a lot of moonies out there!

KidK Mirai 08-30-2009 03:52 PM

Sailor Moon was and still is my favorite anime ever, even if (or maybe because) it's a little corny and formulaic in places. It has such a sweet story, and it's terribly fun to watch with friends.

I have to say, though, that even though I first got into the series' English dubbed version, it's way, way better in its original form, without the edits and name changes and such!

chiiruchan 08-30-2009 06:25 PM

I started with the Dub too... but after seeing the Sailor Stars series... I couldn't stand the dub anymore. Hopefully Funimation ends up getting the rights to redub it like they are trying to. I hope if they redub it Greg Ayres will voice in it. XD I don't care what character. Maybe Artemis or even Zoicite.

scholar 08-31-2009 03:35 AM

I love this show; I still cry at the ending of season 1. I also love season 4, which not many people do, because they can't stand the Pegasus/Chibi-usa/uber-pinkness of it. But I love how season 4 deals with things that younger girls would wonder about, like falling in love and friendship, in a different way from how teens would. Plus, it actually gets pretty dark when the Queen behind the mirror starts working her magic.

For the ending of the series, I prefer the manga: more of a closed circle. No eons to fill in, like with the anime.

I don't care for the dubbing, but would love to see a properly subtitled version of Seasons 4 and 5.

chiiruchan 08-31-2009 03:37 AM

I liked the manga too, anime_scholar! I just ordered the last 2 volumes of the new edition in Japan. Instead of 18 volumes it is 12 volumes with 2 books of side stories. The side stories are on my wishlist though!!

scholar 09-02-2009 11:06 PM

I actually have an extra copy of one volume of the side stories -- my ebay seller made a mistake, so I'm missing volume 2 and have two of volume 1. I find them harder to understand, since I haven't read them in English ahead of time.

What I *do* understand of the Japanese, especially in the philosophical discussions, is a lot more mature than the translations TokyoPop did.

Even though the series was serialized in a children't magazine, it definatly was more mature. Some of the things in the original I was surprised to see in Nakayoshi magazine. I had a Japanese friend who lent me the ones with Sailor Stars in it a long time ago.

NorthEastFire 09-04-2009 01:07 AM

I used to be OBSESSED with Sailor Moon when I was younger. I started watching it around first grade, then when I started middle school I discovered the original Japanese version.

I still like the show; I just don't watch it that often. I think I actually prefer the manga, though; the horrid translations make it hard to say for sure, though. The plot is a lot more interesting and moves a lot faster in the manga, however.

My favorite characters are Rei, Ami, Hotaru, and Michiru.

Akuma-hime 09-04-2009 06:18 AM

first anime ever.
freakin loved it. I saw the live action drama it was hilarious although i didn't finish it because crunchroll removed the videos... I still have a general discussion about salior moon once in awhile with my friend leo as we reminisce our childhood together

scholar 09-05-2009 02:26 AM

Sailor Moon was my first anime, too. I remember rushing home to try and catch it on the 2:30 airing when I was in... fourth or fifth grade? I only ever saw second halves of episodes. But I loved the way that even though there were monsters regularly killed, the show had larger plot arcs, beyond the 20-minute snippets of monster-of-the-day.

chiiruchan 09-05-2009 04:04 AM

Back in the day it was almost unheard of to have an overall plot in a show. It was always single episodes... or perhaps 2 episodes that continued. I think Batman did that. Sailor Moon was awesome!! And it still is!! I just got the last 2 volumes of the new edition manga today!! I have to read them soon!

scholar 09-11-2009 05:32 PM

I love the small changes in artwork in the new manga! My first encounter with the manga was a poor scan of the Tokyopop translations, and they're pretty low-quality, both the scans and the translations.

I am ashamed to say that i never got the chance to watch sailor moon v.v
