The only Dubbed anime I like is FLCL.

It is AMAZINGLY well done. I prefer it over the Japanese version. :3

Honestly, I will watch any anime in english or japanese and not care about the sound difference. It's still anime as I see it. The only thing I can't stand about dubs are, that they pronounce everything wrong and it sounds so...bleh... I don't know how to explain it..

Take bleach, Kon in the dub is pronounced cone. It makes it seem like they don't take the time to review names and stuff to make sure the dub is correct. but other then that I will watch anime in both english and japanese. I sometimes enjoy hearing the different voices and being like: "wow thats different" xD

CandyStripes 10-14-2007 08:56 PM

I HATE English Dubs.
Except for Howl's Moving Castle, actually. The English was better than the Japanese! o_o''

StormRose 10-14-2007 09:57 PM

Overall, I simply prefer to watch my anaimes in Japanese with english subtitles, the voices match up better I've found for the ones I watched. Sometimes both match up well. The only time I watch them in English is if my little sister who can't read well is watching with me. Then its English-English subs.

For example, in Yu Yu Hakusho, Hiei's voice is absolutely amazing in Japanese. Better than English. *giggles a bit and shifts* Kurama's, is a toss up. In the japanese version he's voiced by a girl, but his voice is cool anyway in both versions. I like them both.

So, its just a matter of taste I guess. I prefer to watch it original words, and the translation rather than dub...

Akstar 10-16-2007 06:26 AM

Honestly I don't really care, as long as I have some English to go by, I know when I was watching Hellsing(first attempt of this one not the OVA though I've watched it too), holy crud I am scared of the Japanese version of Alucard's voice. Its so deep compared to the US version. Though I never minded the voices of both original Japanese and English audio for Spirited Away.

Noyin 10-16-2007 12:04 PM

As kid i used to watched them in italian...now that im so used to japanase...every other language sounds wrong to me with ANY anime!

Rurrik 10-18-2007 03:25 AM

I almost always like the jap better but anything with Vic Mignogna or Steve Blum i can handle in english

Vic is Ed from FMA and Blum is Spike from Cowboy Bebop for examples.

secretdae007 10-18-2007 01:06 PM

I don't generally mind English dubs. Usually if I am watching anime on DVD (usually Fruits Basket), I'm doing some that requires me to be looking at something other than the screen. Therefore, I generally put on the English dubbing.
It was amusing. When I watched Howl's Moving Castle for the 4th or 5th time, my roommate (who is more "into" anime) practically yelled at me to try something different and put it in Japanese... >.>; As soon as she left, I changed it back to English xD;;

Roth Keahi 10-18-2007 06:39 PM

There is only one anime that I know for a fact that I prefer in Japanese, and that is Love Hina. As for English, I will always prefer Fruits Basket in English over Japanese.

MasterChiefrei 10-22-2007 05:11 AM

I've been watching CardCaptor Sakura in Japanese too! My friend lent me his boxset and I'm seeing episodes I never got to see on WB *channel that aired the show* Kero's voice and Sakura's was hard to get used to and I still like the old voices but the Jap. voices are fine as well. >w< I prefer *definitely* Fullmetal Alchemist in English and won't watch it any other way. Seeing as the plot of the story doesn't even happen in Japan feels more right with English voices...that and I love Vic Mignogna. >w< All the voices for that show were done well. As for the anime I will only watch in Japanese is the second/third season of Sailor Moon. I think it's the second but I could be wrong but it had to do with first seeing the Outer Scouts and most of the English voices had changed...Sailor Moon's voice was done by a HORRIBLE woman! Every time she spoke I cringed and couldn't watch the show anymore. It made me terribly sad that they couldn't find a decent voice actress for Usagi's role. T^T
Don't you hate it when the voice of a character suddenly changes in the middle of an anime? *coughs* Yugioh's Honda. XD

sessigirl 10-22-2007 08:45 AM

I've watched anime in both english and japanese, I think the japanese voices go along better with the anime though...>-<

Vii 10-23-2007 02:29 AM

I like the Japanese version better becasue 1. it's the original, 2. I acually like reading Subs o__o and 3. I did pick up some words while reading/watching/listening

Shiho 10-23-2007 03:13 AM

Lately, everytime I find a new anime to watch, I always end up watching it in Japanese. Then when I hear the English version, I always end up thinking how horrible the voices are. So, I'd have to say I prefer the Japanese version any day.

Striped Chocolate 10-23-2007 06:41 AM

I remember the english dub for CCS. Sakura's voice was a too low compared to the japanese version.

As for what dubbed anime in english, I despise the Naruto Dubbed Version. I hate it!

Belive it! =|

Blyr 10-23-2007 04:22 PM

For Hentai, and things of that type, I prefer Japanese..

If I start a series in Japanese, I don't want to switch to english later, because that throws everything off.

I do not have a problem with watching anime in English, though... >___>;;

Mirena 10-23-2007 08:18 PM

I usually prefer anime in japanese.. way too often the english dubs sound lame. I usually end up comparing the voices for fun. xD Mostly the japanese win.

Even though I don't understand japanese it always seems to me like most of the japanese voice actors put way more feeling into their acting, plus they also do those small breath sounds and gasps really well my opinion. And in the last episode of Fullmetal Alchemist, the scene where Riza SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER, the japanese voice version wins hands down. Also, the japanese voice of Hone-Onna (Hell Girl/Jigoku Shoujo) is way better than the english one. I think they really found the perfect voice actor for her, while the english is just lame and does the original no justice..

Erm, in short, I prefer japanese. And don't even get me started on how awful most Norwegian voice acting is (not to mention the limited cast xD).. now that's really scary!

Snarry 10-23-2007 11:51 PM

Hmmm...it really depends for me, my dad travels a lot so he will bring back anime and obviously it's in japanese...but everything here in the states is aired in english...and usually when I check out anime from my library I will watch it in english unless it's only in japanese.

But I have no problem watching it subbed...a lot of the time the translation is MUCH better (subbed) anyways...but w/e it's all good...because anime is amazing. ^.^

starrybaka 10-24-2007 12:51 AM

Anime in Japanese is better than English dubs. Most of the dubs are ruining the action in anime and the characters! Also, dubs seem to be very childish and a little bit more "safer" than the original anime in Japanese.

I was wondering if anybody heard that the Death note dub was aired in Adult Swim.

future 10-24-2007 08:42 PM

Eeeh~! I love CCS! Another difference in the English is that they don't have the first (I think nine) episodes. They start when Li appears to be the rival/love interest of Sakura. But yea... umm... I try to buy all my anime now so that I may watch it in Japanese. >> I just prefer it that way with subtitles... weird as it may be, I just like it more. : D

Yea, but I watched all of FMA in English on Adult Swim... but now that I own some of the DVDs I go back and watch random episodes in Japanese with subtitles. >>

Yup. Overall, I prefer the original voice actors cause to me it seems that the Japanese are more "into" the role than Americans.

Crazeh_Sunshine 10-25-2007 02:01 AM

I never really watched CCS in either language, so I can't contribute to that discussion... (read some of the manga though!)

But I have watched a number of anime in both languages, and I just have to say... it depends on the anime. Some are dubbed wonderfully, like Cowboy Bebop and Fullmetal Alchemist. Others, like Yami no Matsuei and Gravitation (in my personal opinion) were just plain butchered in English. I can only watch them in Japanese.

It's all relative ^^.

Susheh 10-26-2007 12:43 AM

~I LOVE CCS!
~I usually watch all anime in japanese,
and read the subtitles since they have the original voices of the characters.
~Most of the time I don't watch anime but I spend a lot of my time reading Manga although sometimes it hurts my eyes.
~My favorites list is so long >w<

Sutorumie Karurusonu 10-26-2007 01:57 AM

Prefered in English - Bleach, Blood+, Gokusen, Noein, Konjiki no Gash Bell(Zatch Bell), Jigoku Shojo(Hell Girl)

Prefered in Japanese - Naruto, Raki Suta(Lucky Star), Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuutsu(The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya), Cardcaptor Sakura, Ichigo Mashimaro

Sometimes the Japanese voices are nothing like the English voices (and vice versa), so I guess I only like one or the other depending on how they sound. And they murdered CCS in the English Dub. They did with Naruto, a little, mostly their mistake on making their own OPs and EDs and getting such bad voices for the Hyuugas, and some others on the show.

Fullmetal Alchemist was the only anime I liked in both languages (so far, at least).

Niren 10-30-2007 02:11 AM

If I have seen the anime in English first then I like the english better. If I have seen it in Japanese first then I like it better in Japanese..though right now I perfer Japanese

Aisha Woku 10-30-2007 06:48 AM

I watch anime in Japanese. It just sounds better all around, which would be an obvious, because it is meant to be shown in Japanese. lol The only series I have found that I can stand to watch in English is Full Metal Alchemist, Wolf’s Rain, and Witch Hunter Robin.

Shows I absolutely can’t stand to watch in English:

Naruto
Bleach
Hellsing
Saiyuki

Truthfully I can’t stand most animes in English for very long. The voice acting just makes me start to twitch. xD I realize it isn’t always thier fault since they have to fit their voice style into a certain amount of time. But still, some can pull it off, and others can’t. It also helps if the people directing/producing would hire the right kind of people for the right role…. ^_^;;

jayson_cool 11-29-2007 11:44 PM

sub is way better because you can watch way more episode.
