Let's see....most animes I prefer in Japanese with English subs, but when it comes to animes that base around using an English or non-Japanese setting and theme,I perfer the dubs....UNLESS! The dubs suck REALLY badly

FullMetal Alchemist, I kind of like either way. I do prefer it subbed, but the dubbed voices are just fine for me. There's a couple voices in English that make me wince, but other than that, it's all good. And Fletcher is SO CUTE in Japanese! Squee! My friend and I watched it together a few years ago, and we still talk about how cute his voice was! :D

Azumanga Daioh, I actually like in English. Don't get me wrong, the Japanese cast is ADORABLE, but the English cast is just as good, and I think with Azumanga Daioh, it's just funnier if you don't have to follow along with subtitles. It's more amusing if you can just watch it.

I can't STAND the Japanese version of Rurouni Kenshin, and I actually think that's the only one I don't like the original voices for...

Jewel- He does. And really, I like of alot of the female voice actors that play males in Japanese animes, but I just did not like his voice at all. It didn't seem to suit him.

Most of the anime that I have watched already, sounded better in the original Japanese version. But the one that I actually liked in the English dub for Fruits Basket... Well, except the voice for Ayame and Kyo... The voice for Ayame just made me feel uncomfortable. And the voice for Kyo just didn't fit the character as I had imagined it.

I usually watch all anime in Japanese....Until Full Metal Alchemist. The ONLY anime so far where I can NOT stand the Japanese version and I completely adore the English.

Lost Universe is another on that I watch in English along with Moncole Knights and Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann.

I guess it mainly depends whether or not I'll watch it in English. I think most English translations problems is giving all the girls ditzy nail on chalkboard voices...and that, I can't stand.

It depends. Some sound better in Japanese, other in English. But I haven't been watching anime for-EVER, so yeahh.

I prefer japenese dubbed anime.

The english (and german*cough*) versions just end up sounding horribly wrong to me .___." Everytime I hear my favourite Character with a completely unfitting voice. ..a little something in me dies ._.". (Same with "live-action"-stuff. I'm weird like that XD").

Not to mention that they tend to change pretty much =/

I actually never prever anime in English...Japanese with English subtitles is my favorite, and only choice. I have this obsession with everything being original so original voices is a must, even though I can't understand them ^.^

* Many of us hear faster that we can read, which makes a dubbed movie easier to keep up with.

* The audio matches the facial expression, making the movie much more enjoyable to watch.

The Cons

* Poor subbing can include misspelled words, letters written backwards and entire pieces of conversation ommitted completely.
* If you're reading the words, how can you watch the show?

I usually watch the English dub first and then watch it subbed to catch some of the edited things and jokes. The dub has to be really bad for me though to watch it subbed right away.

I have never taken any Japanese classes; but after watching subtitles for while you can pick up on words and their meanings.

As for English dubbing, early works tend to have poorer translations and voices to match the characters. But as the industry grew, it became clear that the voices and translations needed to improve. Granted not all of the early works had bad dubbing, but the quality has grown over the years. For example, when I went to Anime Next, I attended a Q&A panel with some of the voice actors from Full Metal Alchemist (Vic Mignogna, Caitlin Glass, and Travis Willingham). After auditions for their roles, the producers sent their choices to be heard by the Japanese board and had gotten their approval for the voices. More attention is being given to the tone and pitch of the original Japanese voices when choosing an appropriate English dub.

I prefer the original Japanese version, over english. I like classic anime, but many of which are not avalible in english. Sadly, many of them are unavalable subbed.

The only anime I like in English is Inuyasha. Other than that, I prefer only Japanese.

I reallyreallyreally hate most dubs.
The only good one I can think of is Death Note, but even that wasn't incredible.
Mostly, anime when dubbed really makes the characters sound bad, in my opinion.

Like, in Suiri no Kizuna (Spiral), they gave the antagonist a Southern accent.

I side with subs (Original Japanese stereo).

I find it depends on which version I've seen first, subbed or dubbed. And it also depends on how WELL it was dubbed. Breaking my own rule was Sailor Moon and Dragon Ball Z. They were so horribly edited down for the kiddies and then horrendously dubbed that when I finally saw them in their unedited and subtitled form, I was in awe of how much better they were!

But if the dubbing is at least decent, I'll prefer it over subtitled if I've heard the dubbed version first. As I haven't watched anime in a loooong while, the only ones that come to mind are Full Metal Alchemist and Trinity Blood. The dubbing has been really good!

One thing that annoys me though is how some films refuse to give you the option of listening to it in its original Japanese format. Miyazki films have this problem, as does the younger of the Vampire Hunter D movies. We know these started in Japan. Now let us hear 'em gosh darn it!

I like to have some in endlish like ones that have a lot that go on in them. were some just sound way better in JP.

I prefer Japanese. They are always the best. =) The only one I loved in English is Inuyasha.

I think it really depends on how the English Dub company does it. Because some dubbing companies can actually do a good job sometimes. But when they do a horrible job then I stick to the Japanese dub. I do love Japanese dub though <3.

I prefer japanese. For some reason anime in english just sounds weird to me. Mostly, because the japanese version is easier to find.

I prefer the original Japanese voices. It just feels more authentic I guess and most of the time, the emotion is spot on. It also helps my Japanese listening skills believe it or not, it has definitely improved my grades in that area and I've gotten used to really fast dialogue. XD The only english dub I vaguely liked was Kinnikuman Nisei (I think it was called Ultimate Muscle when it was on Cartoon Network a long long time ago?). It was cheesy but oh so hilarious.

For me it depends on what anime it is. Like for Digimon and pokemon for example, I can't really sit through the Japanese version. Ash doesn't really look like a 'Satoshi' to me ^^" And its probably because I first started those two with the english dubbed versions. Though mostly, I would prefer for the characters to be speaking Japanese for any other anime. I think that the seiyuus are very talented and can emit a lot of emotion and feelings with the language whereas it does get a little dry with the English version. But then again, the Japanese version would only have a good effect if the subs were good and accurate ^^"

I usually watch anime in eng because I am too lazy to read subs xD Only anime I will watch subbed is Childs Toy. Although I don't mind watching dramas subbed. I watch more dramas then I watch anime

I always watch anime in Japanese with English subtitles. I really don't like it otherwise. I don't like dubbed anime.
I think Gundam Wing was the only one i didn't mind dubbed.
Somehow Japanese seiyuu make the characters sound really natural. And their voices have more true emotion in it.

I found out that the only Japanese anime I liked in english isn't even anime its the movie 'Spirited Away' I prefer the movies and anime in usually Japanese. I don't mind reading subtitles. And I love watching both movies and Anime.

I usually like to watch anime in English because I like using it for background noise. The few exceptions I have is things like Sailor Moon, Slayers, Love Hina, and a few others that I like to watch in Japanese because I love the Japanese voice actors too much. ^_^

I like watching it in Japanese with English subtitles and there are a few anime series that I like in English dubbed.
