- I try to actively go to the comic shops every now and then(like, more than once a month), and I've actually managed to get a copy of Magic Knight Rayearth in japanese(I only know what it says 'cause I've got the corrosponding one in English), and I've actually got a June 2003 NewType magazine in japanese. That one, I have NO IDEA what it says. I just like observing the character art. >w<
So yeah. That brings me to the discussion point of:
Do you have any printed anime/manga related merchandise in Japanese?
Can you read it/Do you know what it says?

I actually do have some! I have Death Note 1 and 2 in Japanese. My friend went to Japan and asked me what I'd like as a gift. I told him to bring me a manga or two, and he picked that out X3 I know what it says because I have the series in English, but I can't read it. Wish I could, though.

I've got the first four volumes of Fullmetal Alchemist in Japanese. I also have the first three volumes of Count Cain, as well as one of the Weiss Kreuz manga volumes.
I also have an unhealthy stack of doujinshi in Japanese. ;o

I have at least 20 manga in Japanese... I have Japanese magazines as well. I can read some of it but I'm a really slow and poor reader, haha. In Japanese at least. ^.^; I sometimes think it would be wise to take a course... but I don't see much benefit in it.

I have many upon many japanese manga. I have most of Kaori Yuki's works, many Arina Tanemura's works (Full Moon wo Sagashite, Kaitou Jeanne), and I'm a big fan of Rie Takada. I love her manga HEART! I also got all of Kare First Love and W Juliet in japanese. XD;;; But I'm still a novice in japanese, so I go super slow. XD;;;

- I have about like 10 mangas in japanese. i don't bother to read them because the only reason i got them was to learn how to draw better. o-O;; i got them almost 7 years ago in a japanese manga bookstore by my house. but i've refrained from going back as i don't have much time to draw anymore. :O

- Ohwow. I didn't realize that there are avid fans that love collecting their favorite authors and such in Japanese as well as English, but I don't have too much room to speak because I did pretty much figuratively shit myself when I found the Rayearth manga. xDD
@Allegretto:: You and pretty much almost every anime fanboy. A boy having an unhealthy stack of doujinshi(dirty or not) is like trying to find an anime fangirl that's only liked anime because of yaoi.
Though, that doesn't take much effort, because I read manga before Yaoi was the cool thing to girls, and I refuse to read it. Dx

Durr hurr hurr. I got it all. And I'm a girl for the record. ;o But meh. Give me most any sort of porn and I'm happy.
I totally don't get the girls who like anime only for the yaoi and the cute shounen-ai fluff, though. D: I like it because I'm an incorrigible pervert.

oooh i have tons of Japanese manga, as well as some in French, German, Spanish, Korean, and Portuguese ^o^ most of the Japanese manga i have i either bought from a store near by my old house to use as art ref and to stare at the pretty pictures, or i got from a cousin.. who happed to be Japanese and gave me all her manga when she moved to LA.
i can't read Japanese ^^;; i took a year of class in uni but I'm a very very very slow reader and most of the time have to have my notes next to me. as for the other languages i have, i can read all but the German and Korean ^.~ . i picked all those up when i went traveling over the years as souvenirs (sort of) to keep me occupied until i fell asleep every night.
a complete list of all them would be quite long ne? though i do have most in English as well so i can read them ^.~

Do you have any printed anime/manga related merchandise in Japanese?
Yup. I got about two or three. ^-^ They're actually quite cheap here. 1-3 dollars only. xD Technically if I could understand japanese, I would be saving tons of money on manga instead of buying them in english. xD
Can you read it/Do you know what it says?
I read anything that's in hiragana and katakana. I recognize a few kanjis here and there.
Do I understand it? Hell no. xD Well basic stuff I get (good morning, good bye, brother, sister, etc etc) And sometimes I can get half the sentence "This sentence says something about wind." But yeah. for the most part I don't get it. ^^;;

I have all of Rurouni Kenshin in Japanese. xD On the last day of a con I went to, just before the merchant room was closing this one booth had reduced their price on manga to $1 per book for an entire series. It was well worth it.
I used to impress people by telling them what was going on in the books... I'd seen all of RK by that point and the manga doesn't differ enough that I couldn't figure out what was going on. xD

I actually don't own any manga in English ^^;;
All of my collections are in Japanese.
Because the price are almost similar, so I think it's better to spend money on quite an expensive hobby by buying the original instead of on other language which might have different meaning due to some wrong translations.
It's not like it's hard to find original Japanese manga, artbook, and doujinshi nowadays anyway.
It's practically everywhere. XD
>.> And definitely much cheaper hobby than trying to collect original cd drama or musicals dvds. ^^;;

Uh... I have doujinshi that's in Japanese. >.>; Does that count? If so, then yes.
Otherwise, I'm generally happy waiting for things to be translated. *Nods* I'm not good enough at Japanese yet to believe I could understand everything that's going in in a manga if it's in Japanese.

Like a lot of old school anime fans, I have a metric ton of stuff printed in Japanese... because that's what was available. If you were lucky, you could read Japanese or find a translation for the volume online. I remember finding Ranma 1/2 in English in some bookstore and being shocked.
So I have a small fortune in untranslated manga, film books, and original Newtype and Animage magazines. I didn't replace any but my favorites when they were translated to English. So I have Petshop of Horrors manga in three languages... Japanese, Chinese (which I can read a little) and English.

Ah. All my manga are in Japanese. I also tend to get weekly/monthly/bimonthly serializations (Shounen Jump/HanaYume/Asuka/ZeroSum/Chara/Wings/etc.) and of course, doujinshi. Have been meaning to pick up a few titles in English (of titles I really like), but I never get around to doing so. Amazon!Japan is my friend.
Not going to try listing manga titles, since I normally buy by series. And I read everything from shounen to yaoi and a veeery selected few shoujo titles.

- I own all of CLAMP School Detectives in Japanese. I bought them because they were only $3 each when TokyoPop was trying to get rid of them. It's kind of fun to own something from my idols in its pure, unabused by TokyoPop form. XD
